BIL had actually done it as a birthday surprise for her.
He told her to bring clothes for warmish weather, and for however many days they were gone, and she didn't know *where* they were going until they got to the airport.

My BIL and Sister actually went a year ago last Dec.
They flew out of Boise, the tickets were something like $700 each. Which isn't horrible for a direct flight.
Their original flight was delayed and they lost a full day of vacation, so it didn't end up being such a great bargain.
They stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, just a short walk to the beach....unfortunately....The Obama's place was down the block from the B&B...the beach area they had access to ended up being closed more than it was open...as were many roads, etc.
They just picked a crappy week to go.
Remember how the Obamas' always went for Christmas break.

Afraid I don't, never kept up with the happenings of the Obama's

been fighting off the flu/virus/bronchitis for about a month now....nothing is kicking it outta my system....hopefully the long weekend will give me time to rest.
