Good morning Dale, OBG, KC, Fran, Joey, Sara, and Paul.
Geesh, late getting around this a.m.!!
Ended up with a second wind, and wound up staying up til 11:30 last night!
Started cross stitching, and lost all track of time.
Crawled out of bed at 8 this a.m.!!

Stay safe Angel!! Just saw they're calling for a 9 ft. Storm surge in your area. :(

Thanks for the morning coffee injection KC!!

Bank and postal holiday here as well OBG.
Man, that stinks about your cell tower!!
Sounds like you have a highly functioning "Coconut Telegraph" in your area if you can run to town and get the scoop!!
Gotta love small town living!!

Have fun today Sara! The kiddos will love all that!!
I think we should have OBG's the meeting place! Just thinking about his smoker and all. :D

Joey, sorry you have to go back tonight. :(
I'll have Mondayitis tomorrow afternoon as well.

Great job Paul!! Gotta stretch those $'s whenever we can!!

So, had a funny thing happen last night here!!
About 8:45 DH went outside to smoke, I'd gotten up and gone to the kitchen for who knows what...and the doorbell rings.
I go check, and there's no one there....I figured kids playing ring and run.
So I went outside and told DH. He started laughing and said he'd just seen 3 kids run past the house.
He walked over and crouched down by the fence gate, and I went back inside...just a couple minutes later I went back out to see what he was still doing...just as I got to DH, he flung the gate open and jumped out and let out his best monster growl.
I think the kids coming through the yard about peed themselves!!:lol::lol: One jumped about 10 feet and took off running, ran straight into DH, then did a 360 and ran down the street.
The other kid ditched his friend immediately, and ran a different direction.
DH said they were both wearing Halloween masks, maybe about 8 or 10 years old.
It was too funny.

    Good morning lovely lurkers.

So far so good here, but Nate is on the way...we'll start feeling the effects in just a few hours...they are now saying it will be a Cat 2 when it hits, and it is still dead on for impact in my city...with higher wind speeds, definitely means more likely to have power outages...but the good thing is it will hit in the middle of the night, so won't be hot and it's really fast moving and the worst will be out of here by sunup hopefully so they'll be able to get the power crews out quickly.

If I had gone to the bf's, I'd probably be just fine and wouldn't even lose power because they are on the west side of it and won't get very much from it...but I couldn't just leave my son here by himself with no car and there may be impassable roads and wouldn't be able to get back...so here I stay, despite the bf whining about me not being there.

Gee, just had an awful thought...what on earth will we do for food...no restaurants will be open...oh we're doomed!:lol::lol::lol:

I feel for you! Hope it isn't too bad when it hits. Maybe you should stock up on some goodies to eat that don't need refrigeration or heating. Keep us posted how you're doing when it gets there.

So, this is the weekend we'll try to get the pool closed it the weather permits. Looks like tomorrow will be better than today.
Always hate closing the pool...so depressing. :(
I talked with our local pool folks where I get all my supplies and they suggested not closing it. Just keep up with the chemicals and on those very cold nights, just run the pump all night to keep the water moving to prevent freezing. That way, it's so much easier to open the pool again. We're still using ours. We were in it a couple of nights ago and will go in it again later today.

What OBG said, at least order some pizza!!

We get below zero here. Long, hard freezes. :(
For an inground, we have to drain below the pipes, blow them out (shop vac on ? opposite of vac), then plug them. Antifreeze in the skimmer pipe. Dismantle the pump and filter.
We've got it down, it doesn't take long. Then we cover it, and use those water filled bags to hold the cover.
It just looks soooooooo depressing. It takes up a good portion of our back yard, and once it's covered it's just a reminder of the long, grey winter.
We open it usually the end of March, or early April. Long before we can actually swim, but it's for visual comfort.

Well, we do have plenty of peanut butter and jelly. ;)

Did his truck break again ??
Oh yeah, we decided not to spend any more money on it after the last breakdown...was going to be a couple thousand, so not fixing an almost 20 year old truck.

Quick order some pizza and stuff !!!

Well, actually sent him out for sub sandwiches...got several of them, and they'll last us for several meals....we probably shouldn't be without power for too long, hopefully, but there'll be a curfew starting this evening, so won't be able to go anywhere, and just not sure when they'll reopen...so we're good. ;)

Bwahahaha. That is an awesomely funny story. Those kids will be thinking twice before ringing and running at your house ;)

While we don't have a pool, yet. Kiddo and I are working on DH for one ;), I can imagine how depressing it can be once it's closed for the season.

Ha Dale...I think I still have some Deejstuff too...wow, it's been a long time since I've gone through my stash.

Sara, glad the party was a success...bet kiddo had a great time....get some rest, you deserve it.

Well, the boy got into the sub shop just in the nick of time...he walked in the door 5 minutes before they were closing and placed our big order...just glad they didn't turn him away...we're all set now...just washing a last load of laundry and the dishes and can just sit back and watch wind blow...it's already raining steadily here.

Yep, black lights. I was a little bummed I couldn't watch the kids. They had a couple of observation windows but they were near the entrance to the playing field/floor/zone. It would be neat if there was a second floor and you could look down and watch. Especially for those having birthday parties. Enjoy your movie :)

Shepherds pie sounds good too. You all are making me hungry. And you are prolly right, they will be back. Hopefully not armed with eggs, tp or shaving cream :sneaky:
