Well, my internet was down all day. Finally got back online around 8:00 when I got home from my aunts. This is the 3rd time since Christmas that we have lost it. I am glad though because at least it was not 2 1/2 days like it was last time.

I have been away from home most of the day but it was a very productive day. I am so thankful that my aunt finally went to see my eye doctor. She absolutely loved him and he took such time with her. She had bad pressure in one eye that he was very concerned with. He put her on medication (eye drops) that should help reduce it. I have to take her back in 2 weeks and I hope it does what it is supposed to. I am getting a little bit back into caregiving but I need to because her two daughters just have not stepped up. Someone needs to make sure she does her drops and he stressed how important sunglasses were because of her baby blues. I have fussed at her for years for not wearing them when she mows.

Because we were already out, I went ahead a took her to CVS to get her drops and then we went to Samsclub to pick out glasses. I found a pair that I thought would look good and she found a couple. The man that works there almost seems like family because he helped my dad all the time straighten his out. He took very good care of us. He will flat tell you if something looks good or not on your face. She tried on all her selections and the pair that he said fit the best and looked the best were the ones I picked out. Yay! I did good.

I hope I did as good a job picking out my frames. Bill helped me also. The only thing on me that has ever been described as small is the bridge of my nose. I never could keep my last glasses in place so I told him I wanted to go back to glasses with a nose piece. I ended up getting rose color half rimless. I was feeling adventurous. My aunt said they looked good but her pupils were as big as nickels so I took Bill's opinion.

He liked them.

Ate a slice of leftover pizza at her house for supper. Not the best thing for me to eat but it tickled her that I ate with her and I was getting sort of hungry and tired from all the running around I did today. That meant I did not have to cut up a salad so I could just come straight in the house and get my jammies on. Then I got started eating pickled okra. Hey, that's much better than donuts.

Before I started with her, I went to the gym and WallyWorld and even went to Sam's to fill up with gas. I have had a very busy day. I will try to rest up because I am going to the church tomorrow night. Terry said they were having spaghetti. Never had it there but sure I will enjoy it.

I'm tired. I'm going to bed. ❤️ you all.

‘Hopefully Rat2 is sleeping, that was quite a long day she had.

Our deck is a mini skating rink .
Both of those comments are funny. Me sleeping? Me skating? heehee I went rollerskating once with a church group when I was small. I remember falling a couple of times and getting right back up until I got the hang of it. It was fun.
Then 15 years later, the girls at the bank asked me to go. I thought to myself yeah, that will be fun. Well, I was wrong. I did not remember just how hard that floor was or how hard it was to get back upright on shoes with tires on them. All I could think about was it sure was going to be hot wearing a cast that summer so I held on to the rail until I could get to the place we were sitting and I took those darn skates off and I have never put on another pair. It is not one of the things that are on my bucket list.

I woke up and was determined to lay there until I fell back asleep. I gave it a good try but. . . coffee won! It was so good, I had to go back for seconds. heehee

It looks like it is going to be a cloudy yuck day, weatherwise. But I will not let it deter me. I hope they are right and the rain holds off until after I get home from my church dinner. I hate eating while soggy.

I am not sure who I feel the sorriest for when it comes to children not helping their families. I definitely feel sorry for the person but I also think that one day, when the child loses their loved ones, they are going to realize what they missed and have regrets. I was not always content with my situation (and that is putting it mildly) but I can honestly say I did everything I could and I have NO regrets. Zero, zilch, nada.

I honestly did not realize older people were treated so poorly by their own families until I started visiting my ex's grandmother in the nursing home. I would drop my daughter off at school and then I and my son would go visit her. Those were some of the sweetest people I have ever met. I just loved listening to them tell stories about their lives. They loved to be around children and I think it was good for my son to appreciate older people too.

We would be sitting on the big front porch they had and it would not be long until my son was entertaining a big crowd. I honestly think the workers started bringing them out there so I could look after them. heehee We did that until my son started school and it was not long until she passed.

I was always honest with dad and told him I would never put him in a nursing home unless he got to the point where I could not give him the care he needed and thank goodness, I was able to do that. But I know without a doubt, that if I had put him in a home, I would have still been there every day doing whatever I could for him.

Enough about that. My aunt has only been in my life for the last 3 years but I agree, she is lucky to have me. I know I told her daughters that I had retired from caregiving but I will make sure she takes care of her eyes and does what the doctor says. You know I have to. That's just what I do!

Good evening ladies

I love to roller skate though it's been a few years. Love to ice skate too but I'm no Kristi Yamaguchi
Tried roller blading in my 20s but I prefer my wheels side by side instead of inline.

I will definitely do what I can to keep my mom and stepdad out of nursing homes. My mom used to work in one when I was a kid, in Admissions. My brother and I volunteered there after school and on weekends. I remember they used to bring in a Swing Band at least once a year for the Harvest Ball. We used to dress up and escort a resident to the "dance" Sit with them and bring them cookies/punch. Listen to the band play Glenn Miller. Good memories. As I got older and saw/understood how the residents were treated, I vowed to never put my mom in there. I can only imagine times now as that was in the 80s. Kiddo would dump me in one of those places for sure ;) Maybe when he gets older, he will change his mind. lol Teens...can't live with them, can't live without them.

    Good evening everyone

Took another night off, my back is better but there are moments when I get sharp pain. Good thing I have edibles here
    Hi Joey
I was wondering how you were feeling, glad you’re doing better but it’s probably wise to wait.

Hey Joey. So glad your back is better but if you are still having any pain, I think it is best to give it more time. You do not want to start from square one. Believe me, I know.

I thought of you yesterday in WallyWorld. I was looking (or drooling) over the Valentine's Day candy. I chuckled when I saw this.
20230131_110031.jpg Of course, I thought of you.

Had a really nice dinner. The spaghetti was quite good. Can you believe he did not get his desert? I asked him why and he said he did not want it. I told him next time to get it and I would eat it.

They had a very good salad bar and of course my favorite, garlic bread.

He asked me if I wanted to do a dinner/movie night again Friday. He must like it and I sort of do also. I still want to go out and do things. Not just eat. But it is nice to watch tv with someone for a change. I'll ask him tomorrow what he would like. I wouldn't mind fixing a meatloaf and taters. I got some fresh brussels sprouts yesterday. They were really good air-fried. But I am not picky. Whatever he wants to eat, I can handle one night of cooking. heehee

My cousin is coming in again this weekend from SC. His daughter and 2 kids are coming also. There will be a full house down there. My aunt wants me to come to eat but I don't know. They are small children and I have noticed as I have gotten older that I do not enjoy being around little people as much as I used to. They are cute but so busy and loud.

I made the mistake of stopping by my favorite thrift store, Freedom House, today after I got finished working out. I came home with 3 more shirts and a garden tool. But I got it for less than half just one of the shirts would have cost me. They have such good prices and one shirt was leopard print so of course, I had to buy it. It was worth it. When Terry left tonight he said I sure did look nice tonight. Everything did match nicely. He did NOT see the leopard bra but he noticed the leopard cell phone case. heehee

I got my Valentine's garden flag today. Yay. It is cute. I have gotten so I like little gnomes. Probably because of the beard.

I do have a "thing" for beards. I already have my St. Patrick's Day flag and Easter too. I am really getting into these flags. They're cute.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I agree Dale :( Slept til the alarm went off but it wasn’t good sleep. I’m still tired dangit!

I’m sorry your back is still giving you trouble, Joey. Definitely rest it as long as you can. Is it upper, mid or lower?

Sounds like you got some good deals, Rat2. Mmmm can’t go wrong with spaghetti and garlic bread.

    Have a great day everyone:)
