All three chicks have successfully hatched!
And then there were three

What an egg-citing week it has been! Saturday, March 4, brought us our first pip (a hole in the egg made by the chick pecking with its “egg tooth”). It took three days for junior to break through the shell, and the chick emerged finally during the night on Wednesday, March 8. Taking that long to break through the shell tells us that the shells are very thick, strong and healthy. By Thursday afternoon, we had a second chick, and both had their first feeding at around 5 p.m. Thursday. Friday during feeding, we got some video of a chick trying to emerge from the third egg. Once again, this eagle pair has three hungry beaks to fill.

What’s for dinner?

For the first several hours after hatching, the chicks are nutritionally sustained by the egg sac that they feed on. Eagles receive all of the nutritional value they need from the fish, birds and mammals they eat. They don’t need to drink water because they also get all of the moisture they need from their food. While the chicks are this young, the parents feed them very small bits of food that is mostly liquid, like fish meat. As the chicks grow, the parents will begin caching lots of food in the nest. At one point last year there were nine full fish in the nest, in addition to a squirrel, some small birds and a duck.

I think it's all the same stuff :D

If you look now mom and daddy eagle are both in the nest :)

The female took off and the male is sitting on them now :)
Cool!!
Well, thankfully the food they've brought is fish, and not a cat.
Remember, a year or two ago, the webcam that the eagle brought a cat.
I guess school kids were watching as part of a science thing...and got quite a lesson on the circle of life...first hand...well, first hand via the internet.

Hi Lurkers [emoji4] Just wanted to check in. Hoping everyone is doing well. [emoji4]

Haven't been on ECF much lately. Been a really weird winter. Very busy at work due to unusually warm weather, until a few days ago when it turned cold and every time I turn around I have been sick with a cold or some other bug. Lol

Thanks for sharing the eagle cam OBG. [emoji4]

Thanks angel[emoji4] I have missed y'all. Just sortof got out of the habit and alot going on. I need to make a better effort to check in more often. [emoji4]

I did see where Provape has shut down. What a shame but I sortof saw it coming. I am primarily a squonker as most of you know, but I did grab a Radius last summer. Nice little mod. Still have my dragon and emerald green one from the early days. Shame to see a great company go down [emoji853]

Thanks Sara [emoji4] I will be fine. Hope that storm misses you! We had a dusting of snow this am. This has been a strange winter. We had about 6 plus weeks of well above average temps which made for an early spring. Now, winter has appeared. [emoji51]
