Good morning Lori and Sara

Been trying to sleep but I've got to get around and buy groceries.
Good morning Dale

I hear you, I need to get to Lenscrafters, my contacts are in and I wanted to stop by Verizon and get a new screen protector for my phone. I dropped it and it hit the handle of the filing cabinet and chipped the screen protector  I know it would be cheaper to buy online but they are the devil to put on right. Lol
Good morning Sara.

I guess, I never heard her if she was stirring.

Good morning.
Thankfully, I don't think I have to go anywhere this weekend... (famous last words), don't want to jinx it.

Good morning Lori  Hope your weekend stays quiet ;)

Ordered my yeast for the mead and a few other things, ended up getting Lalvin EC-1118 yeast it's good to about 18% if you feed it the right stuff :D
Do you have some of the yeast nutrients? With proper use of nutrients you can speed the process up and it'll be ready to drink in 3 or 4 months, otherwise it will take over a year, probably closer to 2.

Here is a good article, though it is for large batches it will give you a good guide.

I need to get an appt. to get new glasses. Have been needing to for awhile...just HATE spending $$ on glasses. I can get by with stronger readers for computer work, which has been working out just fine.
But these glasses are shot. Would like to try contacts, haven't ever tried them. :)

I think I may need readers soon  It's getting harder to see things close up first thing in the morning. I haven't purchased new glasses in a few years, current ones are in rough shape, only wear them at home. Yeah, they sure are expensive (we don't have vision insurance, but get $250/yr towards vision/dental checkups), but then I guess the contacts are too. Lol. $198 for a year supply. I wear the extended wear ones so I change them out monthly.

You should try them out, once you get them in, it's not bad. Most of the time I don't even know they are there. It's great to be able to see clearly peripherally all the time.

    Morning all!

    Good morning Kad :)

    Good morning Kad :)
Yep, expensive buggers they are indeed!! I think if we go to an "in network" vision center, we get one free eye exam per year. But, that's it. Not that I'm complaining, cuz it's better than nothing, just noting that all we get for our eye plan.
When I worked for the city, they had a plan you could put $$ in for medical/dental/eye, and I think child care.
    Can't remember everything it covered.
But that was your money, no match or anything, but I want to say it was pre-tax. Not 100% on that though.
When I started (way back then) they'd just gone through a major overhaul of perks and insurance, lots of unhappy campers there. But they'd had LOADS of perks that normal people never see for a very long time, and I guess the local tax payers had had enough.

I can see at a distance, only a small bit of Rx for that, it's up close that I need it for, so I'm not sure how that works. Can they put both in contacts?? I'm clueless.
I was always too frugal/cheap to get both. Few hundred for glasses and a couple hundred for contacts...so I skipped the contacts. I'm SUPER tired of wearing glasses all the time now, so I'm seriously thinking about trying them. I'd LOVE to get a pair of Rx sunglasses, so I'm going to see how it all goes.

The shopping is done but that's just one thing on my list of five and the day is half gone

I've got a couple more things to knock out and then I want to relax and cross stitch. :)
Not counting laundry, I'll keep pushing that through all day.

Oh yeah, I forgot, they do give us $250/year towards vision and dental. It's accumulates if you don't use it. Ha! When I first started we had to pay for 100% for health ins. Then the first contract I voted on, it was free ins but a lot of the previous perks were lost. The old timers were ticked off. At that time there were more noobs than olds, so the contract passed. Sadly, we didn't realize what we were losing. We only saw free healthcare. This latest one, they divided us again, only now, the paid ins is for the old timers and the noobs now have to pay 10%. It's better than it was, don't get me wrong. But each contract we lose more and more. :(

I'm thinking that yes, they do have contacts where the script is divided. Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure one of my co workers has contacts like that.

I would love prescription sunglasses! That was one of the reasons I leaned towards getting contacts. :thumb: I also love waking up in the middle of the night and being able to see. (Well, not the waking up part ;)) I can see if I'm swimming. It's great!

    Good afternoon lovely lurkers.

Princess has been keeping us running all day...she wore Papa out and he's napping now...she on the other hand will have none of that, but at least she's sitting peacefully in the recliner watching cartoons right now...I'll take it. ;)

Lori, I love my contacts...don't need a prescription for sunglasses that way...and like Sara said, can see when I wake up or anytime...I do use reading glasses for up close stuff now though...didn't use to need them but have for the last couple of years...my eye doctor just told me to get the cheap ones at the dollar store since my eyes are not that bad for up close. I keep those cheap pairs everywhere so I never have to look for them.

Good morning, Fran! We got our internet back already. But the wind has really picked up! And still bands of strong rain. Believe it or not, I still have power and DirectTV is still hanging in there! That usually drops out if a little cloud passes over.
Glad to hear you're okay and fairing well so far...still keeping you in my prayers.

Funny thing about DirecTV, you're right about that, two clouds can get together and knock it out and sometimes it can pour for hours and never lose the signal. :?:...When Katrina hit those of us who had DirecTV had service up and running as soon as the storm passed...didn't matter that there was no power for weeks or even months, the service still worked....But those who had cable were without for months, even after power was back because the lines all got destroyed and they had to lay all new cable for miles.

Lol's, yep...I'd be happy with sitting quietly too.

That's what I was thinking. If I can get contacts, then I could just wear my own sunglasses.
AND, I keep forgetting to mention. Remember when I said a guy I work with is going to NOLA?
Well, they're supposed to fly in Tues., yep. :)
I think NOLA is supposed to be getting 10 inches of rain, last I heard this a.m.

Thank goodness for cartoons sometimes ;) Hopefully they last long enough to give you some time to sit for a bit.

Yep, that's when we're supposed to be getting the rain, Tuesday and Wednesday...bad timing on his part...but then again our forecast keeps changing daily because the storm keeps changing...so who knows, it could end up with nothing here...well, we can hope anyway. ;)

Thank goodness for cartoons sometimes ;) Hopefully they last long enough to give you some time to sit for a bit.
Oh yes definitely...and there's always DVDs if we can't find anything on TV or streaming on the computer...I can always find something for her. :D

...and I do the same thing with my readers.
I have two pair at home, one at work, a pair of reading sunglasses in the car.
Yep, me too...I have a pair in every room, in my car, the bf's car, 2 at work, and in my purse...I'm covered wherever I go.

Hello friends. I am sorry to be a party pooper right now but we had to take our corgi Mya to the vet today and she was diagnosed with AIHA. They have put her on prednisone and done a blood transfusion but things aren't going well. Have any of you had a dog with this and did they make it? The prognosis according to the Internet doesn't look good but the vet says don't give up.

Got all but one thing done and that's mopping the kitchen, thinking it best to do that tomorrow;)

I've worn glasses for years for distance but the last few years I've had to remove them for up close work
Tried bifocals and despised them so I just take them off.

Chili, so very sorry to hear that. I had to Google, have never heard of it either.
Prayers for Mya!! Hopefully the treatment will be successful!!

I'm waiting for the dryer to stop...then will try to take a short nap and stitch some.
The nap will be more cuddle time with Rita than a real nap, but I've been busy all morning/day (guess morning's been over for awhile now, Lol's) and would like to close my eyes for just a few minutes. ;)
