I don't remember for sure what year it was, sometime in the early 80's, but we had a major ice storm like that in Alabama...power out for over a week, stuck wherever you were...lucky for us we lived on a farm, and had a wood burning stove and our own well (which we only used for backup, we actually had city water) so while everyone else had no water, we had water and could cook and stay warm. By the end of the week, my father was dying to get out though and get away from us kids.

Good morning all.

Joey, that's the darn truth. It's a creepy feeling (to me) when the power is out.

Oh Angel, that is unusual for that far South.
Had to chuckle about your dad being ready to get away from the kids.

Have a good day all, and Happy Hump Day! :)

Good morning lovely lurkers.

Feeling a bit worse today...starting to move into my chest, but it's not terrible...yet...keeping my fingers crossed it'll stay mild...but at least I should make it through the day...have to get out the last of the 1099's today (new client she decided to take on just last night ), and of course payroll, so I don't have a choice but to go to work. :glare:

Oh well, hope everyone has a good day.

    Good morning, OBG[emoji4]

I also have several kerosene lamps and a 5kw generator. Thought we'd have to use it during Harvey, but we didn't lose power.

No power no problem I have dealt with it before. Back in the 70’s there was a blackout the covered the 5 boroughs for a couples of days in the summertime. Around 2005-6 when I lived in Rochester NY an ice killed power for more than 24 hours maybe two days, I bbq’ed my meals because I did not have a gas stove lol

I have a gas stove, plus a bbq grill, so lack of power would be an inconvenience, but not earth shattering. I could get by. My water heater is also gas as well as my heater.

Wish we had a gas water heater too ... whoever came up with all electric homes was nuts! :glare:

It’s a good day, still morning and I’m not going back to work until February :?:

I did have an electric one inside the utility room. I always swore I'd switch over to gas hot water if the electric one died. Well, it did. Ruptured all over the utility room. I went and got a gas one. Built an enclosure outside and crawled under the house rerouting water lines and tied it into the gas lines we have under the house. Love the gas!

We are in the upper 60's. Tomorrow, mid 70's. Slight chance of light rain tomorrow evening. Hard to believe we were at 17° a couple of weeks ago.
Wow! You’re going to get hot tomorrow

We’ll be at least 10 degrees cooler :?:
