    Good evening lurkers :)
Tonight we had ribs, broccoli and corn.

Everyone is either quiet or busy tonight eh? ;)
Been busy planning some much-needed Geocaching expeditions.
I got out today for a couple hours in a local nature reserve and it was glorious. Hawks, Deer, Ducks, several huge pieces of sculpture and a couple Geocaches. I love hunting tupperware.

Geocaching, is that hunting for the rocks that have crystals in the center?

I don’t understand the meaning of “hunting Tupperware “ :?:

    Good morning lurkers

    Have a great day!!
    Good morning Sara

Woke up with a headache (actually a face ache) and more rain, it’s like February is late.

Geocaching is a world-wide GPS based treasure hunt. Someone hides something, records the coordinates and publishes them. Others use those coordinates to find what's been hidden.

    That's the simple answer.

Hiders will often make a "Cache" wherin are stored a logbook (for the finders to record their visit) , and trade items , maybe a gift for the First to Find. These containers can be Ammo cans, Film Cannisters, and ...yep Tupperware! Often they are camouflaged, or ridiculously tiny, or require a puzzle to be solved to reveal the actual coordinates of their location. ... so we go hunting Tupperware in the woods (or anywhere, really)

This is how ridiculous it can become: about 115 puzzles to be solved (not all geocaches are puzzles, but all require a varying level of detection to be found) ... solve them all, and find the caches, sign the logs and record the finds on the website.
Then the "image" of the Roadrunner will be made up of smiley faces. I have not attempted this one. I probably won't. I like difficult terrain caches (long hikes, up a tree, down a cave etc)

Just to add to the fun, we try to do this with a modicum of discretion... we know people are curious, and if we're observed discovering and opening a pill bottle (or whatever) that person might well follow us and remove the cache.

In my years of caching, I have found hides not much bigger than a watch battery, magnetic business cards in plain sight, 5-gallon buckets, hides disguised as pine cones, bolts and insects, had my image recorded on a public webcam (screenshot and email to the owner for credit). I've been to multi-day events with thousands of other like-minded folks, and spent countless hours with friends and alone discovering unusual and beautiful locations on the planet.

It's definitely geeky.. when I started in 2005, coordinates had to be manually entered into a GPS receiver, then computer programs were developed to automatically upload multiple records. Now, if you have a smartphone you can have the world at your fingertips, and thousands of mini adventures just steps away

Whilst it's not about the numbers (I have found 1405 since 2005) there are folks who have found hundred of thousands of these, from Wal-mart parking lots to the middle of lakes, downtown, or in remote wildernesses. And also the folks who have hidden them, who also hunt.

Download an app, take a look at the map around your home, grab a loved one, or a dog or a child, and get outside and find something...

Thank you for coming to my TED talk lol

Dale, Sara, it is a lot of fun.
I went out today with one of the dogs, to sign the log of one of the puzzle caches I solved last night. It involved a bit of walking, a modicum of bushwacking (about 150 feet of forest with a lot of deadfall) and a really cool container.

Then I dropped off doggo, and headed out to a local cemetery where I found 8 of the 9 that are hidden there. Well, I found 7, but in logging the one "Not Found" (smartphone app) , it alerted the person who hid it. He found my phone number (there's a large group of us the subscribe to the "Phone a Friend" list for those really cranky days where you just can't seem to find anything) and called me. We chatted for a minute as I returned, and wouldn't you know.... even from 50 feet away I could see the tell-tale and it was discovered.

Looking for the last of my day, I was questioned by an early evening walker, and so, much like this, I explained the sport, the parameters and he seemed quite interested, he even hung around as I finally found the tiny container, signed the log and replaced it. Afterwards he told me he thought I was a detective looking for bullet holes or somesuch, and the patch on my sling pack made him think I was an official of some sort LOL.

So, sunshine, doggo, hiking, conversations with friends old and new... yup, I had a great vacation day

    What about everyone else?

10hours of work which kind if sucked tonight lol
No "good reaction" for that. I sympathise tho. My workday is typically 10 hours, with a 45min commute at each end. Some days are great, others suck. I work mostly outdoors, and weather can really affect the vibe.
Hope tomorrow is better for you

Well, I definitely had to google and you showed me something new that I had never heard of. I think that would be fun if I had someone with me. If I did it by myself, I would need a GPS just to find my way back to the car.

I do love the outdoors though. When I get finished at the gym, I go to another place to walk outside. I love walking around the lake and watching the birds. I experience such calmness when I am around any type of water. Doesn't matter if it is a lake, pond, hot tub, or even the shower.

I have been keeping myself so busy the last couple of days. I had no idea how dirty the driveway was. That pressure washer was amazing. We had a beautiful day to do it also. I had on shorts because it was 70 degrees. Then of course today it started turning cold. It just cannot make its mind up about what it wants to do. Early Friday morning it is supposed to start raining and rain all weekend. It does really upset me because I need to rest.

I will have to get some pictures of the driveway. I thought I had but evidently, I was so tired I forgot. I work out six days a week and you would think that I could not find muscles that I haven't used but. . . I did. I am stiffer tonight than I was last night.

I got two of the vehicles inspected yesterday also. I wanted to get the tires rotated (I have retired from being a mechanic) and he said it would be $25. I don't care as long as I do not have to do it. When they got finished with the car, he said he rotated the tires for free. People are so nice to me.

I went to the car dealership today because one of the tire valve caps was a different shape than the others (which you know with my issues was driving me bonkers). They did not have black ones in stock so she told me to go next door and see if they had some back where they install tires. The little guy came back and handed the cap to me and told me to have a good afternoon. Gosh, everyone is being so nice to me lately. I am not sure if it is my cheery disposition or the new bra.

Either way, it's nice for a change.

Honestly, your phone will do the work. Doing it with friends is the best tho.. I just contacted old GC friends and I'm meeting SO of one tomorrow to have him watch me struggle over one of his difficult hides. Then Saturday, he and his squeeze (an old and close friend of mine) will go to a potluck gathering. The community is widespread, but tightly knit
