Welp, yesterday was the first day on the new job and for the most part was pretty good. Except for one thing... We're being issued phones through the school district and they're bloody iPhones. I now know why I've stayed far away from them. I hate this thing. As in, I REALLY HATE THIS THING! It doesn't help that the IT department has total control over it (which really doesn't bother me), but it just makes you go through extra hoops to get the damned thing set up. It's tiny compared to my phone (I have a Samsung S24 Ultra). Icons and screens? Don't get me started. I need to see if I can modify how this damned thing looks, otherwise it's going to drive me absolutely bonkers every time I have to use it.

Aaaaaand nope! If I want everything alphabetized, I have to move each :censored: icon individually. There's absolutely no option to alphabetize everything AND keep the custom layout I prefer on my phones.

And if you haven't gotten the idea yet, I HATE THIS :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored: phone!

    Apple, you suck!

Good morning lurkers, happy Friday to our workers ;)

You’re killing me Joey! I’d love to see those temperatures.

    Could be worse...

    Good evening everyone

Bummer you gotta go back, Dale. Nah, being with your grandparents is never boring. :)

Joey, sorry your back on 6 nights. I want to wish that it goes quickly for you, but then that means summer is over and kiddo is in his last year of high school :( This summer has been not so good weatherwise. Crummy weekends and hotter than hades weekdays.

Uhhh not as hot as you, Retired. Yeeesh! I will take my complaining elsewhere lol. Except when it comes to Apple. Hate it with a passion. I'm on my 4th iphone and I will say the technology hasn't improved over the last 12 years imo. Why haven't we switched? I threaten to after every update. But all my music is on iTunes. I have spent a lot of money over the years (started out with a nano) and I really don't have the time nor desire to try to download it elsewhere. I know, I can just pay to stream the music but I'd rather just buy a few songs here or there.

    Have a great evening!

Good evening retired, Joey and Sara.

Yep retired, we’re in the upper 90’s daily here, we won’t talk about the feels like temperatures. At least we’ve been getting a little rain here and there.

I just dislike having to carry a phone period, no one should have to be reachable at all times , I only got one to make my dad happy but he’s gone now.

Wishing you all a happy evening :)

Generally I would agree, however, this job is special. Don't want to get into details how things work, but if something goes down at a school, we're one of the first to know about it so we can respond to the threat.

This is easier than you think. I'll boot to the Winderz side of my notebook so I can remember how it's done.

Edit -- You aren't going to believe this. Unless you're playing this stuff directly from iTunes, it should already be on your PC. Click on the Music folder and you should see a folder called iTunes. All your music is located there and can be played from Windows Media Player.

Now... Let's say you want to play your files from a USB stick to use in your car (yes, you should be able to do this in newer vehicles). You're going to have to convert the music file from m4a to mp3 format. Unfortunately, Windows doesn't give you the ability to do this but it should be possible to do within iTunes. If you want the steps to do this, let me know and I'll draw up a quick tutorial on how to do it.

Good morning lurkers :). Stayed up much too late last night and up late today.

Oh I know how it is, I’ve had to have one for work purposes too. Even the meat label machine requires WiFi and a phone to operate at work now.

All I can say is I hope the phone has an alarm on it that wakes the dead when we get the notification. Otherwise I'm going to be blissfully unaware of anything. I'm not one of those that stays married to their device at all hours of the day, especially after I get home. Phones go on the charger stand and get ignored. I don't know how many times someone has attempted to berate me for not answering a text message, and they get shut down when they're told text messages are not the way to get a hold of me especially as I have the notification sounds turned off. And if you aren't on my "preferred" list of people allowed to break through Do Not Disturb, I'll call you back once I do the rare check to see if anyone has attempted to call me.

Having a smart watch helps, too. I have it set to vibrate when a call or text comes through and I can discretely check to see who it's from.
