Nope! this is an African Cichlid tank. You can do it as easily as the one you have now!Cichlids are about the most colorful that you can get w/out saltwater. Now mind you I do have to throw a couple of table spoons of aquarium salt in there, but the chemistry isn't such an exact science as a marine setup. You can get baby chichlids for $3-$5 a piece, and they morph colors a ton as they grow! They're very hardy fish (adapt to variable water conditions).
The Basic setup:
VERY GOOD filtration
82 degree heat
Air stone to help water oxidation
small amount of Aquarium salt
and a PH buffer chemical which is WAY less expensive than maintaining salt.
oh wow there you go!!! For some reason that variety of fish is more expensive in Aus (unless I just go to rip off pet stores lol) that sounds like something I could manage though!! I already have to have a heater for my tropicals so yeah I have most of the set up you mentioned. How often do you have to add salt? They are beautiful
