Oh Tina, sorry to read you don't fair well with the fishes.... But but your doing wonderfully good with your fur babies.
Cuddle bug hehe, my girl turned out that way & she way a stray. Got her when she was about 5 months old & now she is 13yrs. She even gets cranky when I don't fill up her cuddle meter.
Yes poor mum.... Lucky for her she smelt the smoke before the fire started, but my older sister got it worse. They were playing cowboy's and Indians and my brother speared her in the leg with the bow & arrow........real arrows !!
Laura, I can't imagine not having a feline in my life..... It sure must be hard- hugs & more cuddles for you.

When I was little we had a dog, no idea of the breed, but was medium sized black & white. After she had puppies, we didn't have a dog anymore. It's weird cuz I must not have been all that attached cuz I never really noticed she was gone, that I can recall now.
When I moved out of the house, my roommate got a collie, so I got one too. Again, never bonded with her, barely paid any attention to her (poor baby), and after a few months I gave her away. Again, I don't even remember the details. sigh.

So I've never really had a relationship with a dog before. Now in my ripe old age I keep thinking that I'd like one. I like their loyalty and unconditional love. I would like to have a reason to go for walks. However I am deathly afraid of big dogs, and a little nervous around smaller ones - afraid of being bitten. At least I can defend myself around a small one, but a big one could maul me to death. And I don't like miniature yipyipyip dogs. Cute, but the barking is way annoying.

I have my eye on a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. They have the most adorable faces and are just the right size and I think the breed usually has the mild disposition that would suit me.

But I can't bring another animal in the house while Maggy is still with me. I tried once with a 2nd cat but it upset her too much. I figure she should live out her senior years in peace and happiness, then I can decide what's next. Cats are so much easier to deal with but I sure would like to try a dog once.

Some people are just not dog people. I have had dogs. Well wait, that is not entirely true... my husband has had dogs. 3 Chihuahuas (yikes, never do that again), 2 Datsons, 1 Pug, 1 Blonde Lab, 1 Blue Healer and 1 German Shephard mix. I did not/could not bond with any of them. At one time we had all 3 Chihuahuas, the pug and 3 cats all in the house. I found out I was pregnant and I insisted we downsize. But it never happened. Hubby was not given up his dogs and I was not given up my cats. lol So 9 months later, we added a baby to the mix. When we divorced 6 years later, He kept all the dogs and I took 2 cats. (the 3rd was Gizmo who had passed away) That was 5 years ago. He has since lost the Chihuahuas and the pug, but has gained the 2 datsons, Lab, Blue Healer and the mix. lol The big dogs were strays he adopted. Oh and he also has 6 cats. LOL the datsons are indoors, the big dogs outside and the cats are indoor/outdoor cats. He loves animals and keep right on taking them lol.

My husband now (1 year next month) and I have our 2 cats, Beau and Jewelz (4 years old) and couldn't be happier.

I don't know why I never bonded with any of the dogs or even the dogs we had as kids. I barely remember them and don't remember them ever just going away. Just one day they were gone. I don't think its wrong, Just some people are not dog people.

I finally got a close-up of my guinea pig, Venus! She's so shy, she'll hide in her hut whenever I come around. I had my husband put her in her pet taxi so I could actually get some pics, though. We don't let her out of her cage much because I'm afraid the dogs would go after her like they have the rabbits outdoors. :(
