The real shame here is not enough of them will be made so EVERYONE will have a chance to own one (P+ mods prime example). Newbie's like myself join everyday, and we get more savy everyday as to what is good, and what is great..Like Super T stuff. Sad thing is, by the time we learn what the really great stuff is, the vets have gobble it up, and none left for the masses.

So in a nutshell, rest easy long term Super T customers, I'm sure you'll get one. Yes, your post did rub me wrong, but I am entilted to my opionion. Why do I own a Buzz Pro II and a Provari? Because I can. Get the picture?

It doesnt have to be just the vets that gobble them up, you just have to be dedicated to checking a thread daily, whether it be a noob or vet or a tweener that is all it takes. For some people that is too much effort or time to dedicate but it is what it is. Also, things do come back into stock eventually and if you really want something from supert you can usually get it (eventually). High demand product with a creator that is a perfectionist. I wouldnt have it any other way.

@vaptamist- I thoroughly enjoy the levity you bring to the conversation.

Regarding availability and sales of the Precise Strata:

All will be treated equally, whether you have one post here or a hundred posts, or whether you own 3 Precises or its your very first Super-T PV. Like we've done on all past sales or pre-sales, it will be first come first serve. We will definitely let you know in advance exactly when they will go up for sale and i'll even make a point to divide it into too sales times, in case you aren't available for the first sale.

I think the real concern here is, will i be able to get one? There are no guarantees you'll get in on the very first batch, but i can tell you we are hiring on more staff to prepare the upcoming Shockwave as well as several other items we have in the development and prototype stage, so when the Strata rolls out after the Shockwave, we will have more staff on hand to better meet the work load then just Kevin, me and Ashley :) Also, we'll be sure to run a very large first batch!

You see, that is one problem with people these days. Entitlement. "I deserve this more than that person for xxxx reason." It may have been an off-the-cuff post, but it is just too prevalent in societies these days. It's like people see something they want and revert to a child mentality.

Anyway, would I be more deserving if I had a bunch of old Super T performance parts on my Mustang? Nah.

If you are a big Super T fan then you should be happy to have them be a fair company, and hope that many new customers find their excellent products in their hands. Remember, good sales and great products will increase demand. Increased demand will allow them to increase production (and profits), which will lead to more innovation.

Just my thoughts. And for the record, I do not own any STM products yet. Have had the opportunity to use one for several hours though. It was a fine piece of machinery.

On one hand, I love Super T and deeply; truly admire SuperDave's art. Perfection, as simple as that...

OTOH, though, I think that whenever there is a new product coming out, Super T fans and customers should be more entitled to get it first. Meaning, a Super T device is so exclusive that then, this makes total sense to me, as in you become part of a top notch club, Ferrari, Lambo sort of...
Furthermore, not only should they -regular customers- be entitled to get a product first, but even get the possibility to "upgrade" their PrecisePlus, in this case, into The Strata Experience, by means of buying a Tank First; before/ at the same time the Precise Strata is launched. This goes a long way, since it would not only make PrecisePlus owners feel "less lucky", but on the contrary; it would be a VIP treat to them, thus, dignifying their Super T APV's status further...

Despite the fact fans out there will likely buy a full Strata all the same, it just would be a nice touch to make PrecisePlus owners feel "oh-yeah-fortunately-I-have-one-Super-T-already-and-that-puts-me-in-a-better-position-for-my-new-purchase" INSTEAD OF "oh-....-lucky-.......s-the-ones-who-havent-yet-bought-one-for-they-have-more-money-now-more-choices-they-go-first-etc"

Maybe this could be compensated by having a first batch of Beta Stratas sold just for current P owners !? Who's with me !?

I am not 100% sure but I am pretty sure, though, what Revolver was trying to say is that:

1. Any Super T product is Unique, so in a way, having one makes you unique as well, and maybe "the club policy" or preference towards clients makes natural sense, for they are unique or special, and should be treated as such... As in... If you don't own a Precise you don't know what's good or bad...! And maybe Revolver got a bit too enthusiastic with this idea...

2. But also, and most importantly, Revolver, IMO was aiming at not only getting his Strata but also at all of us getting them ASAP. So, a Beta Unit NOW sounds cooool. His idea was not bad, not bad at all...

;)

I also got a bit carried out because, even though we'll all get it sooner or later, I hate "later"... But thing is we shall all get one eventually... True... However, as I was saying, what really worried me was the fact that I started wondering what might happen with the limited Damascus and Titanium editions...

Mmmm... Imagine if Snork, or any of the Big Fans out there gets caught in a traffic jam, cannot get online for this or that reason that day... Then what !? Will a newbie take their Damascus P !?

I have an old Bear Damascus butterfly knife. Love it.

:D I'm jealous! :D
I have a titanium Benchmade Morpho butterfly knife, but it just doesn't have the same weight to it that a steel knife does, which makes it a little tough to do some of the harder tricks with. I bet your Bear is beautiful!

Actually the Bear is showing its age! Had it for a long time and it really needs to be rebuilt (getting a bit too loose). My buddy bought the same one you have and just broke down and bought a Benchmade 62 since he couldn't find a 42 that wasn't crazy overpriced. They are both super nice and both scare the !@*% out of me!

Yeah, the 42 might be expensive, but it's really the quintessential balisong imo. But like your friend, I went with the morpho b/c I couldn't find a 42 for a reasonable price, where as I got mine 40% on sale from Amazon :3
Probably should have gone with a conventional folder though, bc the balison is hardlyyy an edc considering you'll do 3 years in CA just for walking around with one

Intelligent post and a good business decision. Unlike certain other popular vendors who set themselves up as the Col. Kurtz of their product lines, requiring initiation into their special tribe for a slice of water buffalo steak. The whole 'you must be deserving' of a given product is pure fantasy that some people get sucked into, bending knee and offering praise in the process. That might be fine if you intend to stay a small niche player and have already secured your flock, but not if you've got aspirations to genuinely grow a business to become a main player.

The 'who is more deserving/entitled' mentality is a slippery slope with completely subjective criteria that can ultimately prove counter-productive to a business. Nice to see a vendor put this in perspective and ensure a level playing field for all customers.

I guess (heh) you could say I like Super-T models as much as the next guy but I don't see myself as being in some sort of club. I know for a fact that they don't appeal to other people for various reasons and that's OK. What bothers me is that when hype or "club" mentality sets in it tends to create an artificial value to something which is essentially just a metal tube.
I believe everybody should have a Super-T mod at least once so they can appreciate its beauty, performance, and get a feel for whether it suits them. Many people wouldn't be able to do that if getting a second-hand one cost them $400 just because of hype or some imaginary exclusiveness concocted by fanatics. That's dumb. Also, David sets the price as he sees fit in order to be profitable, he and his company did the work and it irritates the heck out me seeing people profit off of other people's work due to a "must have this in order to be elite" hysteria.
Do I want a Strata? More than you can imagine. Does a part of me feel entitled to one since I've plunked down mucho dinero to buy (from Super-T) a bunch of PrecisePluses? You betcha. But I'm prepared to fight through the swarm to get one because that's how I believe it should be and if I fail there's no way in hell I'd let someone take advantage of and profit from *my* fanaticism after the fact.
I just won't fail. :D
