Oh wow; that's not bad at all in comparison. So long as by adult they don't mean 15 years old.

The ones that you can breed and make money off of are the big dollar ones.

This guy in Pa. has a adult Female F2 for $500 picked up or $850 delivered, a lot of people asked her age but he keeps saying message me or call me.

Ahhh probably a 12 year old cat; or could just be a few years old and fixed.

As beautiful as they are I wouldn't be supposed to the f4 or f5 breeds so long as they have the same appearance. How social and how theybond with you has a lot to do with the way you are with them as kittens I think. Genetics will play a told as far as if they we prone to certain behavior.

Fortunately, cats' genes aren't very plastic. Even the ones quite a ways down still look quite the same as the originals, at least if they're bred well. They just look to humans, even as adult animals. It's really cool what can be done with breeding. They're amazing. You get all the looks and the fun parts without the 'rip your face off now' bits.

But there has been a tremendous amount done with animal breeding and how it affects the outcome of the temperament of the animal when it grows up. For example, if you take a wolf and try to raise it like a dog, at a certain age they become unmanageable in a normal household. They just don't get human communication the way a dog does. They aren't wired that way. It doesn't have anything to do with how they're raised, the circuitry isn't there.

Great books on the topic of human/animal interaction are Temple Grandin's Animals in Translation and Cesar Milan's first book, can't remember the name. Both of them get animals. Especially Temple Grandin. She's absolutely amazing. They both talk a lot about issues with how animals are bred and how it influences how they interact with humans.

Even in humans. There was a case where a baby boy who'd been damaged at circumcision was then raised as a girl. It didn't work. (It's a really, really sad story. The book is, As Nature Made Him. I knew, personally, one of the people involved in that whole mess.) It's fashionable to think nurture can change anything but from every attempt and study done, it just doesn't work that way. There's only so much nurture can change a creature's fundamental nature.

What do you do for a living, you seem to know a lot about cats lol.

You going to be the Saloon Zoo Master :)

PS: Keep the cats away from H2o, they seem to follow her around for some reason. :?:

You mean I'm in charge of the whole thing? This IS a zoo! :D Just kidding.

Heh, just grew up training and raising horses, then bred them for a few years in addition to having a life long interest in veterinary medicine and animal husbandry. So yeah, I've picked up a bit about breeding animals over the years, or at least horses, dogs and cats. Not so much into cattle, sheep, goats, pigs or poultry.

Now I breed computer programs. Yup, that's what I do. I'm a college student (PhD program) who's working in AI and genetic algorithms on top of a bachelor's in electrical engineering. It lets me breed things I'm not allergic to.

And one of these days, I need to get back to work before I make my grad adviser very mad at me. Fortunately this break has been really good for my head, so hopefully he'll forgive me for being AWOL for about 2 weeks. Either that or I'll get caught up and he won't notice. ;)

Well maybe you could take a look at our Ocelot, she has been kinda down lately,
Maybe you could give her a shot of something to perk her up:)

Well with the Savannah the closer to F1 the taller they seem to be. I would like to have a tall one.

If that's what you want and you're serious about it, talk to breeders. A lot of them will modify their prices for someone they know and have talked to. Especially if you want something specific, like tall or specific coat patterns. Join the fancy, get to know who's who. Learn what bloodlines and breeders produce what you want.

CFA doesn't recognize the Savannah, but TICA does. Go to their site and even more, go to the shows.

Very, very few cat or dog breeders actually make their living doing it and most of those who do run puppy or kitten mills. The good breeders rarely produce more than a few litters a year. There are just too many unwanted animals. You also don't want to get tangled up with the people who are breeding animals because they're fashionable or because they think they can get lots of money for them. Especially with a breed like the Savannah. In order to keep that look, they have to know about genetics and inbreeding.

So if you're there and helping out and they can trust you, then those prices are often quite negotiable. The real reason for the high price with a good breeder is to keep the best animals in the gene pool and discourage those who aren't willing or able to really do their best for the animals. It's not about cost but rather keeping them safe and healthy. People don't value things they don't pay for and high prices are a way to make sure those animals will be valued. But the price can be paid in other ways if you're willing to put in the sweat equity. ;)

Welllll ... I did just order a bottle of Alice in Vapeland's Cheshire Catnip. I'm really, really looking forward to that! I love vaping mints and catmint is one of my faves. It's a really earthy mint and very tasty.

I'll have to see how it is and maybe get her some.

A drink. A vape. Nice folks. Some Holly Cole. What's not to like?

Nice to meet you JMM57. If your handle is your initials and age, are you going to change it every year?

Am I the only one who thinks there's something odd about Holly Cole's picture? Looking at the face and the position of the legs, where would the arms and torso be?

I would really like to give my opinion to that Holly Coles Avatar, but it involves 2 women, and I think I would get in trouble :danger:

Here are some Savannah cat Vids in case some might of never heard of one.

...- World's Largest Domestic Cat - YouTube

Serval Chirps for Dinner - Cat Eats Dinner at The Savannah Cat Shoppe - YouTube

This one named Zeus The Serval, has a YouTube channel

ZeusTheServal - YouTube

One of the episodes of Too Cute from Animal Planet (I think) has a litter of Savannah kittens. They really are too cute, but you can also see the wild part of them. But that's what makes them great, as long as it isn't too much. I don't remember if they said, but from looking at the parents, they're quite a few generations from wild. Very, very nice. Although one of the little queens was quite a handful. She was probably going to be spayed, but the other two (it was a litter of three, two females, one male) will probably be left entire. The little tom was adorable.

They also show the temperament testing. Oh yeah, and both of their parents doing the DFA thing on the curtain rods. If you don't like pets on the furniture, often as high as possible, they aren't for you.

ProVari Pro-Ring | Loki Lab

Pricier than provapes; but, I think they look better

1.21 gigawatts!!!

I have two black Loki rings and like them, but they are made of Delrin (as are the Loki white ones, the rest are metal). Aren't all the ProVape rings made of metal?

Nice to meet you too. Re the handle, well I didn't think that far ahead ;)

Odd? Hmmm .. I see Holly draped over a chair or chaise but maybe it's just my imagination.
