Dan, Thanks for the update. The drop of a wrap is interesting. What about a coil insulator? Maybe another piece of glass or something slid down over the coil so you have a SS->glass->coil->glass sandwich?

The outer part might work better with something other than glass. Something that could help focus the heat. Sorry I'm just thinking out loud...

Back in the day, (2 1/2 years ago) *cough* showing my vaping age...
I made this:

I then used a compund to encase the coil in to keep the air from cooling the coil. I did not find a real differance in an open vs contained coil. Pluss it was a PITA to set up and maintain. This was before they started using SS wicks. The only problem I see with a pyrex in pyrex tube is more heat loss through haveing to heat up 2 pieces of pyrex vs one, unless there is an air space between the coil and outer pyrex tube. I have been playing with 3 1mm pyrex tubes inside of a 3mm pyrex tube eliminating the SS mesh all together. But I need a larger ID pyrex tube that can handle all 3 1mm OD pyrex tubes. BTW 1mm is the size of the tube in the picture.

Dan what drill bits are you using for what sizes. I was worried about retrofiting existing genisis's and possible leakage around the tubes.

I used a 1/8" drill bit on the DUD to accomidate the 3mm pyrex, but if you cut the pyrex 8-10mm in length then you should not have to dill out the atty, unless you like the idea of the pyrex set down into the atty top.

wow totally freaking awesome!!!!! so i can use a 250ma glass fuse then? if so im going to snag some now lol

I would look for a fuse of a smaller OD. My 250ma is about 4.5mm OD. You need clearance between the top cap and the center post to avoid the coils from touching.

I just talked to Susan and confessed my sins LOL
She said they had over 100 orders last night and they are freaking out.
But she said it is all good and they have also had international orders, so the word is out :)

Just Spoke with Dan from Wale Apparatus Co. He also stated that he had about 150 orders this morning....he was calling all of them to verify it wasnt some sort of scam LOL.

I've been looking at some of the other products on waleapparatus and I Was thinking that you could use the glass tape or fused quartz wool to wrap around the wick and keep the insulation wall as small as possible

WALETEX TREATED WOVEN GLASS TAPE - 100' LONG - Wale Apparatus

Fused Quartz Wool - Wale Apparatus

Also maybe use the wool as a wick?

Woven Braided Glass Sleeving - Wale Apparatus

The problem with using stranded silica/quartz fibres is that they can crack more easily - just like the silica wick already used... the beauty of the tubing is that its solid and less likely to gragment into small inhaleable particles - or thats how I see it...

OK Dan, you need to make a U wick with a piece tubing at the top and stuff it into an SGV3 and let us know the results. My SGV3'S have been Sitting dormant for a while now. (Yes I know I can run a single wick in them...) I would like to know the results of horizontal orientation with expansion possible out both ends of the tube.

This also begs the question of whether the vapor comes out the center of the wick or up the sides of it?

A radiative wick aye? Freakin brilliant! What a proof of concept! The only other way I can see to atomise juice is with a hot plate of some type... Way too problematic though. I can see this going a long way to help make reliable, fiddle proof, long lasting devices. I suppose if you wrapped that in some titanium wire, a set up like that could last a very long time. The only thing to replace really is the wick, and cotton yarn is so cheap. If only I owned a genisus atty, I would give this a go. I wonder if the same concept could work on a Viva Nova. Just have a short piece of extemely thin tube suspended in the middle of the wick between the sides of the atty...
