Thanks, Karen. You, too! I couldn't agree more with what you said about keeping monkeys as pets. That's not to say that I don't envy the heck out of the hands-on experience you've had with them, though!

Thanks sweetie! If the information online was available to me back when wanted one it I think I would have made a different decision. The only information I had was at the local library and college library. It was a much smaller world back then! Yellow pages were only in a book, an our reach was limited.

Hands on, monkey hugs and kisses were unbelievable. Hands on, with a monkey that did not want hands on was terrifying and often painful!

Yes, I have read all the posts from yesterday evening and through to this morning.

I am not upset at Valerie for her view on monkeys. I can understand fully why she feels the way she does.

What I have learned through the years is to take an experience that really impacts me and try to gain understanding on why it happened. Often there is an explanation that give me a different perspective. I am then able to learn from the experience and not be tied up with negative emotions.

I have learned so much about primates, monkeys and apes, through years of research and hands on experiences. I lived have lived in four different households where monkeys were pets. I have handled monkeys that were calm and friendly. I have handled monkeys that wanted nothing more than to tear me apart. I have been called into a vets office to remove a monkey from a carrier and place him on the table so he could be tranquillized for a procedure. I have been bitten many times. There are scars on my arms and legs from bites.

The most important thing I have learned through these years is that monkeys and apes should NEVER be kept as pets or family members. Yes, I did have two monkeys at one time. I always wanted one and with limited information available and a broker ready to sell it was easy to do. That started my journey into learning all I could about these very special primates. It did not take me long to see that primate ownership should never happen.

I have written a few articles on primate ownership and my experiences. Some of the primate websites have them for primate owners and those interested in owning primates. They are located here if you wish to know more. If you only read one, I suggest Lucy's story.

What would be your theory then on why Billy chose me to terrorize, yet didn't go after any on else? I never did anything mean to it, I walked past it and said hi to it, I gave it treats (I can't remember what, it was whatever they gave me to give it) and one day it just decided I was the enemy and needed to be hated. It would race around its cage, grab at me, screech at me, and generally drive itself into a frenzy. That thing was downright scary, but only to me (as far as I knew it was just me, it didn't act that way towards any one else in our group of friends anyway). It was so bad they literally had to go and cover the cage before I could even go in the house, or they just moved its cage into the parents bedroom. Do you know something about them that could explain it?

Is anyone else watching the walking dead marathon? It started last night. I have all the episodes on DVR, but am watching it anyway. I love seeing the characters at the beginning and comparing them to how they are now.

I haven't ever seen Deadwood that you all talk about. Can you tell me what station did it? I have on demand and all the pay ones too, but we don't have netflix. We pay enough for all the pay channels we figured we didn't need it. I have the Wii at the condo and we talked about putting it here, but I said not since I didn't want to get carried away playing it and possibly hurt myself. So if it is Netflix I can't get it.

Val..as far as I know...which isn't very far...but i DO make good cookies...Deadwood can only be bought! And I'm watching and DVR'ing WD's first season, since I'd changed providers and lost that.

I'm loving watching it again, with the knowledge I've gained from all the next eppies and seasons, as to the little " hint's given that I'd missed in the first viewing.

I wish RW would rerun periodically so I could keep up with what's going on...

Morning REOville

They're times I wish I lived in Canada. Sometimes the American Dream can really suck. You can be penalized for working hard, owning your home(s) and then not be able to enjoy your well deserved retirement. Healthcare cost here make no sense. Between the medical bills of last year when my DW had kidney failure and my current medical bills I owe over $40k which I pay with one of our SS checks each month. Im far from being poor by no stretch of the imagination. I own out right our family home where I grew up in Silicon Valley appraised @ over 800K wich I collect $2100 a month rent. That money pays for my current house payments here in Oakdale. A simple loan would wipe out any debt but I was raised as a parent you leave your children with all you can and never with any debt. Tho I no longer have a son we are lucky enough to have 2 great grankids and our plan is to leave them each a house. Sorry for the rant but I just don't get this country (healthcare system) which my son fought and died for...make no sense...no sense at all. Again sorry for a morning bummer but I woke up in more pain than usual and a bad mood...but isn't that what hump day is for. :)

I feel you, bro. Taking the money out of healthcare would solve so many of our country's woes. Unfortunately, as Americans we're great at collecting Pandora's boxes, and this is but one of them.

Still can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live, though. USA!

My realtor......really luv her to death but sometimes she gets to be impossible. Tonight shes telling me that idk (I don't know) and N/A are the same thing and I said there's a big difference, then she starts raising her voice telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about........geesh

n/a or N/A is a common abbreviation in tables and lists for not applicable, not available or no answer. It is used to indicate when information in a certain table cell ... quoted from encyclopedia...l...case closed, as shoudl be realtors big mouth...

Val, it could have been something as simple as the way you smelled. Your perfume or bath soap or shampoo, conditioner or even diet gives us all a distinctive smell to an animal. Very possible that some thing about your scent fingerprint set him off when ever Billy smelled you.
