Great to hear your liking it Tim... I know once I put this atty on both of my grands, it was no turning back and everything else was sold, PIF'd, or thrown out as I has absolutely no use for anything else.

As Train already suggested, try a little different angle to the coil. If that doesn't work, try raising or lowering the coil to the airflow. I run mine with the bottom of the coil to the center of the AFC, so I'd say a little higher than normal. I have never gotten a whistle but it is quite turbulent at times...

This is the tip I use on both of mine. I did have to cut off some of the stem on the bottom and trim the OD of the stem in order for it to set completely flush to the atty, but once its done, its done... Mine fit perfectly flush and the OD matches perfectly to the atty...

Deb, if you run a Derringer wide open, you will probably not like the O-16 then. I am thinking it would have the same air as the Derringer with only one airhole open on each side. I will say the air on mine are different when I went from dual coil down to a single Z-coil. I still have both sides open and of course there is more air than with the dual... I would never suggest anyone try the clone over the original as I have only read a couple people having both and no one has convinced me they are anywhere close to each other... Quality or vape wise...
I will raise my coil next build. That sounds good anyway. Letting the air hit the bottom then go up the coil. Dayyum this is a fine, fine vape. vaping it on the ferry to VT right now, heading to buy my new car. The ride home tonight will be a blast, testing a new car and new atty at the same time :D

Wow! Three stunning pictures right there! So glad to hear you like the 0-16, but I had no doubt. I have two of them and they have the two top positions in my arsonal. I actually prefer them (a little) over my Chalice IIIs....and that's saying a lot because I LOVE the Chalice IIIs....
How's the airflow as compared to the Chalice III? I ask as I got a Nuppin...brilliant atty but too airy for me. Looking for a new atty so as to justify another REO.

The airflow is MORE compared to the Chalice III. I am a MTL tootle puffer -- I run a single coil, around .8-1.0 Ohms, so I don't need that much air. I run the Chalice III wide open. On the O-16, I run a single .8 Ohm coil, side mounted, with only one airhole open. I keep mine on the next to largest airhole. Perfect. From there I could still go one hole bigger, or I could go double. So.....it has options for more air; the Chalice is more limited, but perfect.

I love the Chalice III because it is just so well made, and it NEVER leaks, and it's small enough it fits everything -- even all my non-LP REOs. After the Chalice III (and I have a Chalice II I love as well) the RM2 was perfect for me. Then I found the O-16 and it is pretty awesome. It's easy to build, great flavor, just all-around great. My ONLY reservation at all about it is that it has an o-ring instead of threads. I prefer threads. That's just me, and not important enough to keep me from buying a second one. They're kinda pricey, but I find them worth it.

Good Morning Reonauts. Been two weeks since I stopped by, and that is entirely my fault. Was catching up, and everyone was talking about maintenance and modification.... I must be the laziest Reo user on the planet. My daily beaters, two standard Grands with RM2's, never get waxed. The Black Wrinkle finish has rubbed off of the bottom, all eight corners, and along the front edges close to the door. They get re-coiled about once a month, and at that time they get washed and wiped. The RM2's get a good washing and cleaned with Q-tips. Maybe twice a year these atties get soaked in 91% Iso for 5- 7 minutes, then dropped in boiling water for 5- 7 minutes, then Q-tips. Black dot... ? So what. Just keep vaping. Wipe the batteries ...? Are you kidding me ? Just keep vaping.
The rest of my metal mods (VV Grands, SL/LP Grands, P67s) are on a half-assed rotation ; they sit motionless for long periods of time until I think 'Let's try this one again'. Then they get washed (except the VV Grands), wiped, and the Atty get Q-tips w/ 91% Iso and rinsed in hot water. And a new coil/ wick. If I still don't like the atty, it gets the 91% Iso/ boiling water routine.
The Woodvil (VV and standard) are also on a half-assed rotation. They gets waxed maybe 2 or 3 times a year, and every fall when it turns cool (like now) I moisten the interior of my Woods with Mineral Oil and a Q-tip to prevent cracking. They sit motionless until I decide to use that particular one again, then they get cleaned, and the atty also gets cleaned.
On all of my mods, I probably rinsed out the on-board bottle, squonk hot water through the feed tube, and Q-tip the 510 connector once for every week of use. And rinse/ Q-tip the atty. Just to keep the juice/ vapor clean.
I have never modified an atomizer, ever.
I have never modified a Reos mod, ever. Although I did send one VV Grand back to Rob for a "Haircut".
I guess I have the "Just Shut Up and Vape" syndrome. I'm cool with that.

Great pics again, Sloth. Loved Canada, just haven't been in over a Decade.
Work is, well, work. My bout with tendonitis in my right forearm has subsided, so I am back to overnight runs and pulling tarps.
Daughter is spending more time with Loser #5. They are getting married this coming June in Jamaica. Mamaw says she's not going. I am not going down there by myself, so I guess we wait for pictures.
Went to our favorite Italian place (New York Italians in North Carolina, imagine that), and brought home some delicious Stromboli for supper last night. Sometime I do these things just to give Mamaw an evening without cooking.
Sorry I was absent so long. Try to visit a little more often.

Have a Safe and Blessed Sunday :nun:

Papaw, what a cool post. Good to see you back. I'm sorta in your school of "just shut up and vape".... I don't spend much time on modification and maintenance. The fact that I don't have to is one of the best things about a REO.

I have to be one of the laziest REO vapers there is. I don't do any of that stuff. I rewick when I need to, clean contacts once in a while, and may go months without rebuilding coils. I just dry burn them off when I rewick. I vape basically unflavored, except maybe a drop or two of flavoring in the bottle.

I don't vape unflavored, that's probably why I do as much maintenance as I do. I mix my own e-liquids. Just mixed 100ml each of Vanilla Delight and Caramel Surprise this morning.
The real killers are the Tobacco flavors. I macerate pipe tobaccos, then strain and filter for a PG based NET concentration. At 16% concentrate, these flavors are delicious, but wreck the coils. I usually dryburn and wick after every 6ml bottle. And, the bottle, feed tube and atomizer need to be flushed regularly.
But when done right, damn they taste good !

So glad you found the O-16 and are digging it. I found them on their first run and I too have never looked back (or forward) for other attys. Luckily I was able to find another one on the classies when they were unavailable. I even posted a wanted ad in the classies. Other than the Challice 3 that I use on my old-school Mini, and an RM2 (drilled) for my 18490 Woodvile, that's all I've been using for a long while.

So many airflow options plus great vapor (thick) & flavor. A triple win. I run a z coil (28 SS) anywhere from .5-.8 depending on liquid. I do use the Synar wide bore and yes, they are really snug. Luckily, I don't remove them much.

Thanks @Rayonati Sloth for posting this AND I again learned something new! The simple adjustment of the airhole so that I can see the coil rather than the end of the wick, made the vapor even thicker!! Am not sure about the whistle fix. I can't remember how I fixed it on one of mine. If I remember, I'll shout it out (could be at 3 am though).

Dang, I love this thread and our wise participants. Am presently in Northern Minnesota checking on my MIL (dementia). Not easy but you folks warm my heart.

Good day all!

I do the same with my coils and contacts. I rarely re-wick because I use RXW and just dry burn. For flavor, I like BWB Malty Toffee and put two to three drops of it into the REO bottle, the flavor is there but never overpowering. I have changed a lot over my REO years and I thought I was too old to change.

I've done the same with flavors, for the last year or so. I used to make various complex, multi flavored mixes, at fairly high percentages. I have files full of tried and true recipes. But what I found is that as my coil resistances went down, so did my flavor percentages. I gave up on the complex, layered mixes, and found as much or more enjoyment in just putting a couple drops of whatever flavor moves me at the time, into the REO bottle of 6mg/ml unflavored. Ms Rule is not a REOnaut. She's a 'push button' Kanger SubTank vaper, who only vapes a Menthol/Mint concoction I make for her. Total flavor is about 16%. She loves the stuff. I can't imagine vaping anything that strong in flavor.

He recently had knee surgery and is recovering. I think it is only Todd in the shop for the time being. You might want to send Rob an email though. I know he has communicated to a few over on the FB group via email on the site...

Thanks muzic!

Just tried to place on order with Rob but couldn't get through to pay for my order. It kept bouncing me back to the verify address page. Everything ok with Rob?
I had the same thing earlier this week. I emailed Rob and we got it all squared away. Received my order yesterday.

So just to try something a little different - I tried using 30g Kanthal to build 1.5 ohm single coils. Only took five wraps around a 2mm drill bit. Tiny little coil that heats up instantly. seems to be working for a tottle-puffing old fart like me. Running single coils in three separate RM8 that way, and works just fine.
