You are right you can not go wrong with the REO, a Phidias, or Kaji. All #1 in the juice fed mods on the market. :)

I am hoping to find my ultimate vaper in the Ali'i, but it's pretty clear to me that a person almost couldn't go wrong with a REO, a Phidias, or a Kaji. All of these mods are reviewing as the best out there in the category of bottom fed juice boxes. I can certainly see how easy it could be to rack up a sizable collection.

It's interesting how vaping has become a hobby for many people, in a way that makes me think of what smoking must have been like in the 1950s and 1960s. Today, we all get into trying out different models and variations, different accessories, different juices. Back then it was all about different cigarettes, pipes, tobaccos, Zippo lighters, collectible ashtrays, etc. The "Golden Age of Smoking". I wonder if this could be called the "Golden Age of Vaping", or if the best is yet to come.

But if we all start discussing where to buy the best vaping jackets, I think I'll call it quits!

As a newbie, let me give you my opinion on mods in general and the Phidias in particular.

I researched the PV for about a week before settling on the KR808 from V4L. I was looking for something I didn't have to mess with much and the cartos seemed like less work than an atty and cart or just an atty and dripping. I was pleased with it at first, but yes, you have to refill, (disposable carto? Kind of expensive.) And the batteries would only last a few hours before I had to switch them out. I had to carry extra cartos, extra batteries, and a charger to work, and always pop off caps, refill, spin, etc. It just wasn't the ease of lighting up a cigarette. Don't get me wrong, I like vaping, I could see the potential for quitting cigarettes, but it consumed too much time and effort.

Then I started looking for what was out there that could satisfy my laziness. I have seen mentions of the elusive "bottom-feed juice mods", so the hunt was on. I saw the Reo, looks good, but not really my style, I saw the Journeyman, nice but a bit too boxy and the Ali'i is okay but it has a hole in it. Phinally I phound the Phidias, puck yeah, but darn, how to justify $$$.00? Well, if the KR808 can get me down to about 4 smokes a day, maybe the Phidias can do the rest, so I ordered.

Here is my box with Murphy, he likes to be included (for visual reference, he thinks he is a big dog, he even backed down a Great Pyrenees, but really he is only 23 lbs, and overweight at that, but don't tell him.)
murph.jpg

Anyway, my verdict is that this works all the time. When I need a vape, I pick it up and vape, when I don't it either goes in my shirt pocket, or my pants pocket, or on my desk, or on the coffee table, or on my nightstand. I have used this exclusively for the last week and I haven't had any problems with it at all. It has gone to work, to the store, in the car, basically everywhere I have gone, and I intend to keep it that way. I was hesitant to lay down the cash when I bought it, but now I see that as silly, I need another one. Maybe freebie for the great review, fono? Hello? Is this thing on?

Anyway, yes it is more expensive than a KR8 starter kit, and yes the KR8 works for many people. But for me, I haven't had a cigarette since this started producing vapor, tons and tons of vapor, where I was still having the after dinner smokes and goodnight smokes with the KR8. Maybe I am just trying to justify my purchase, maybe I'm delusional from all the vapor, maybe it's nearly 2am and I just need sleep...

Okay, now everyone knows my opinion, debate closed.

Good to here you found the mod that works for you. :)

The Phidias is a wonderful mod and has helped a lot of people :)

Nice pics drum..I am going to be ordering a REOGRAND this coming week when they go one sale..

I have been vaping for 53 days with a riva, and while it works really well,to be able to cut my self loose from carts and paper towels, and just have a worry free vaping experience sounds wonderful..

BTW..the REOmini and the REOgrand are MECHANICAL..NO wires ....And made out of aluminum...

k3vin...good point on the REOs. So, did you have any luck getting the REOgrand....they sold out so darn fast, I didn't have a chance? Next time, I guess....but Rob at REO had 75 to 100 grands....and they sold out in, I think, less than 30 mins....makes your head spin. At least I have my trusty mini.

Now tell me there's not a niche market out there, huh?

You are right. Can I crown the Champion. I got them all and have used them all LOL

Hi Pete how you been :)

I'm good MX. I see you have been very active, helping out a lot of folks here. Thanks from all of us! As to crowning the champion, your opinion would certainly hold a lot of weight! In the end it just comes down to what works for you though. So if you could only own one mod, what would be your choice?

I totally agree with "Doc Holiday" aka DocWyatt, aka TheBuss..LOL.
I would have never started vaping if I had to draw from a wooden box. I mean the whole point is to mimick cigarettes.
This is why the patch, and the nic gum has never worked for me.
The actual mimicking the cigarette between your fingers, putting it up to your mouth, taking a long satisfying draw, that throat hit, and a long satisfying exhale is the real addiction in my opinion.
Nicotine is an afterthought. I could vape a 16 MG juice or a 0MG juice, and not think about reaching for an analog, as long as the PV looks and feels like a real cigarette .

This is my 3rd week of waping and have not touched an analog since, nor do I care to.
I seriously doubt that this would be the case if I started vaping with some wooden box.

For me what its the REO, I have and use the other Juice fed mods, but the REO hits the spot for me. :)

Like I said all are top notch mods and it comes down to what will work for you or the Individual. What ever keep you off the Anologs is what it is all about. :)

While I understand the sentiment, here is the way it worked out for me.

I smoked 1.5 - 2 PPD, so I carried 2 packs of cigarettes and a lighter with me all the time, never left home without it. I started vaping on a KR8 and loved it, however my daily carry changed significantly. Just to go to work, I carried the carrying case with two batteries and 4 cartos, a USB charger, a spare XL battery, extra juice, and a spinner thingy I made from a 1.25" dowel and some string. Add to that every night I would refill cartos for half and hour and try to make sure my batteries were charged. It wasn't like smoking to me, it was a demanding and cruel mistress.

Once I got the Phidias, my carry to work is, well, the Phidias. I sometimes carry extra juice, but not always, and sometimes an extra atty, but not always. The Phidias is roughly the same size as a pack of 100's, same width, shorter height (without atty & drip tip), and a wee bit more depth. So, it is basically like carrying a pack of cigarettes, only a bit heavier and a whole lot prettier.

When I was done with a cigarette, I snuffed it out. When I was done with a cartomizer I unscrew it, put the bottom condom on it, pop off the cap, dripped juice in it, spin it, drip more juice, spin, repeat as necessary, put the cap back on and let it sit for a while then vaped. When done with the Phidias, I put it in a pocket or set it down. I usually refill the bottle once a day, unscrew the atty, take out the bottle, take off the top, fill it, replace the top, make sure everything is dry, put the bottle back in and screw the atty back on. Cleaning the atty consists of soaking it in PGA, rinsing in hot water, and letting dry, but I haven't even done that yet. Also change the battery once a day, but that barely merits a mention, kinda like opening a pack of cigaretts.

So yeah, I thought I needed something that looked like a cigarette when I started, but quickly found that I needed something that was as convenient as a cigarette instead. I believe the juice feed mods fill that role, and will help some people with quitting, as it did me. Some people may have excellent luck with the KR8, or 510, or EGO, or Tornado, or what have you, but if this helps just one person stop smoking, it's worth it, and I am one person.

Cheers, Jag

And that is the whole point that Doc is trying to make.
If there was no PV that looked like a cigarette, would you have started vaping?

Maybe, maybe not. If I had found this thread chances are that I, being the lazy .... I am, would have thought about getting a juice box. Cannot say one way or the other, can't change history. I can say before people buy more and more accessories for their KR8, 510, EGO, SB, et al, they look at the bottom fed mods. I spent ~$250.00 on stuff, not including juice; stuff I no longer use and will probably give away. I started with the KR8 more for the convincing of the cartomizer than for the cigarette size.

So, spending $40 - $80 on a starter kit (or buying disposable e-cigs) is probably a good idea to see if someone even likes vaping. I am not going to suggest someone spend $145 on a Phidias and another $50 on batts and attys to see if they will consider vaping. My wife tried it and does not like it, it would have been a waste to get her a mod right off (although I would have two now.) So sure, try it out with the starter pack, or disposables, but if you find you mess with it more than you like, look at these.

I'm still a newbie and I bottom feed.

Cheers, Jag

Could you guys help me out with this? I started with V4L, so have KR808 cartos, etc. How do they work with these mods? I can't figure out how the juice gets into the carto. I had come to the conclusion that they must only work with "510" stuff, yet Jaguar and others seem to have transitioned quickly to these bottom fed mods. Does your old KR808 paraphanalia work with, say, a REO, or do you have to get all new stuff? I swear I've read these threads and gone to the manufacturer's sites trying to parse this out, but am still confused. Thanks.

I think all the Juice mods will work with adapter, the R@R mods have a specila one the REO and phidios you can use a standard adapter.

So yes you can use the 808 cartos or attys on these Mods.

Yes I have not used the REO with Cartos but people on the REO thread have and say it works well.

If you can go to the REO forum page and post the question I now some one has the answer for you

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...s-forum/95123-reo-grand-opening-sale-846.html

OK. I already have the adapters from my Black Silver Bullet. So I screw that onto the REO, for example. How does the juice get into the carto? Does it somehow go up the tiny hole at the bottom?

I think that now I have tried a lot of the items out there...I have to say that I think the mods are a very important segment of the vaping spectrum. If they did the same thing as the traditional types of e-cigs, I would have nothing to say. But now that I have my own mod, I tend to vape less often and less intensely (there are even days that I forget to vape through the majority of the day). Why? Because the mix is right....for me anyway. And if that information helps just one more person working through this transition, then it is worth it to me to see this information in the Newcommers Area. That right mix is what got me off of the analogs and for that, I am grateful. As I've stated in other threads, I'm 2 months smoke free, been a smoker for 25 years and been vaping for over 6 months. It was the mod that tipped that scale....for me.

I'm not saying that this will work for everyone...nor am I saying it should be shoved down anyone's throat....
However, I do agree with Jag that it should be represented as an alternative...There are at least 4 kits I could have not ordered after the first one....and got a mod instead, and still saved money and been done with analogs much sooner. If I were still smoking, then my position would be pointless to discuss.
