I think they're all press fit now.

Just for grins, try the reset. With the battery out, press and hold the fire button for 5 - 10 seconds. That drains any residual voltage from the electronics, similar to a full power off to reset a confused computer. While recommended (necessary) when going from stacked to single battery configuration, it may help. Hopefully!

My SVD was purchased last October. The fire button lost it's click after about 3 months, but otherwise it's still working fine.

Good luck!

That helped. It will fire now, but the button is still acting funny. I may have damaged it when it wouldn't fire at all yesterday. :(

the most leak free tank ive had so far has been the Aerotank that I use with upgraded kanger coils, not even the smallest drop of juice left on the connector.
No matter how much an Aerotank leaks, there wont be anything on the connector. There is no path to the connector like there is with the Protank etc. The air hole is on the side, not on the 510 screw thread.

Is it the same with an Aspire Nautilus? I have one of those on the way, and I know they have the airflow regulator.

As for this SVD, I'm going to attempt to take it apart and repair it. If it's true that wires are being held together with tape, I'll solder them.

I wonder if there's a more durable LED button that would fit, also...

Glad that got it going for you.

I do find, with my "soft" button, a really firm press is needed, and still occasionally get the contact bounce from it that tells the SVD to turn off. Liveable :)

May I ask where the SVDs that are lasting over a year were purchased?

I am on my second one and am now loving it, but afraid that it will, too, crap out. When it does, I can't see what would be a suitable alternative it terms of looks and the ability to use the 3 sizes of batteries I have already invested in this.

Oh yeah, and the SVD display makes for a great night light to stumble off to bed with after a last post on ECF.

    It is.

I've thought about doing that myself. Mine is still under warranty, but if the new one will still have the same defects as the first, I don't see the point of sending it off again.

I am curious to see what you find. Post what you find, if you have the opportunity.

If it's under warranty, I don't see a reason not to. I didn't get a warranty with my first one (nothing was mentioned about it, anyway), and I got it cheap enough that I don't mind experimenting with it.

I'm not quite sure how I'll take this apart, but it's pretty much dead (no firing, even after resetting), so once I do figure out how to remove the cap without completely ruining it, I'll see what I can see. :)

My third arrived yesterday, so I have a backup for the one I'm currently using now. I hate that my first failed so soon, and I don't like the thought that my second could fail at any time, but damn, I love the looks and features and vape of this mod.

But screwing it in increases the odds of twisting off a wire inside during assembly.

That's easy, look at how many turns you need, twist it backwards over half, then screw it on. If it is a good solder joint no problems. The problem with a press fit is not getting it back on, it's getting it off in the first place. Ask me how I know. :(

4 months into having 2 SVD's. so far so good. I get the occasional "I'll think I'll turn off now" but if you've owned any Vamo Version "whatever" you get accustomed to this. Longevity, I don't know yet, only been 4 months, I expect them to go the Vamo route and fire button will give up these low priced (well they say low priced I don;t think they are) mods all seem to have this button issue, my SID does too though it has lasted the longest.

I retract a previous statement about fast shipping from FT, I did get my SVD in 8 days, the Vamo V5 I ordered about the same time paying the extra 2 bucks for Canadian shipping never left China. Returned back to FT, now go figure WHY, the SVD was sent through. I made them refund me for the V5.

LOL if you folks think the SVD is huge, you should see the KSD E-Huge, I have one(Vamo V5 on steroids) 266650 battery. It actually is available with an extension for 2 x 26650's it looks ridiculous, it''s a self protection weapon with the extender. So far I love it, it's heavy and and I like that, but it is a Vamo inside.

Well this sucks.... I just woke up, and when I went to turn on my SVD it took me about 10 minutes of pressing the button over and over, and now that it finally turned on it's nearly impossible for me to fire the device. I have to try multiple times to get the button to "catch" or whatever it's called, and even when it does start firing if I even very slightly let off the button it stops firing. Not to mention it keeps turning off when I'm attempting to fire the device

The worst part is that the 30 day warranty from the vendor literally ended about a week ago

Yeah it's definitely worth a shot, especially considering they have a member on ECF who is very active and always goes above and beyond to help out customers. So I did send him a PM, but considering it's past the 30 days I'm not expecting anything, I just can't believe it happened just after the warranty ended. I bought the device on Apr 27th, and didn't receive it until May 1st (and then I had to wait another day for my Nitecore i4), which means I've only been using it since May 2nd. So it pretty much only lasted 35 days before it started to fail :(

I am very happy right now! It definitely pays to order things from a trusted vendor, as Vapor Engine (where I purchased my SVD) has already replied and is going to replace the SVD!

I definitely recommend that you guys check out their website - VaporEngine, and their thread over in the ECF Suppliers Forum - VaporEngine Deals, Reviews, Vaping Discussions.

I am just hoping that the second SVD turns out to be the same quality as the one's that so many other members have had for months, as I really love the device. I think I've looked at (and read about) almost every other VV/VW device online, and none of them had all the things I like about the SVD (the +/- buttons, replaceable batteries, telescoping or capable of using different sized batteries, ohm checker, and VV/VW).

Another good thing about this situation, is that I had already pretty much decided I would have to buy another device. However now that the SVD is being replaced, I will be buying an MVP 2 as a back up, instead of as a replacement :D

Luckily Vapor Engine also carries the MVP 2's, so I will be ordering one before Monday :thumb:
