Thanks Sando7. To help clear up my confusion and ignorance, are all IMR batteries non protected?

you want 18650 IMR's 2000mAh "non protected", and this is a very reputable vendor and imo AW are the best.....would pick up at least 2 or even more.
don't skimp on a charger get a good one like one of these
http://101vape.com/batteries-chargers/357-nitecore-digicharger-d2.html

or

Efest LUC Multi-function Smart charger - 101 Vape

they have 2 or 4 bays, take your pick

Batteries - RTD vapor

Hey all, I have gotten dizzy trying to read back through the pages but haven't found the answer I am looking for. My Other Half had an SVD, had it for about 2 months, and it is acting up. Doesn't seem to be quite what people are describing with the dreaded button issue, but maybe?
Ok so pop in a fully charged 18650 (she has 3 different ones so it isn't the battery), take a few puffs, then it starts acting up. Either no vape or pitiful vape, as if the battery is dying. Check the battery, it's still perfectly charged where it should be. I have been messing with it and watching the button light, and it does every now and then flicker or not come on but that's rare. Pressing the button harder doesn't seem to make a bit of difference. Yes she pushes the button for 5 seconds before loading a fresh battery. Tried 3 different tanks and does the same thing, so it's not that either.

Any ideas? Going from that back to an ego style battery is not sitting real well with her lol.

Not sure if you are having the same issue that I did, but it sounds a bit familiar. I thought it was a battery issue, or atty issue, as the light would turn on when the fire button was pushed.

What I found on my unit was that the light would turn on when I pushed the fire button, but did not always fire unless I pushed down near the 'top' of the button ie. top towards the atty, bottom towards the battery. Give that a shot; see if pressing down on different points of the fire button yields any different / better results.

sounds like your button is in the process of failing

For anyone who doesn't know, for the SVD V2, Innokin are collaborating with Evolv to create a DNA style chip to put in the new SVD. Everything about it is pretty much just about done, however most of the people that they showed the completed prototype to dieagreed of its shape, saying it looked a lot like a dildo..Innokin's employee that posts stuff on Reddit, Paul said shortly after that they were gonna redesign it. Here's the Reddit thread:

IMR's are definitely more advanced and built better so they don't need all that extra protection imo

sure hope the new SVD is a better product, might invest in another.....got mine retired now for about 2 months, still works but the button was going soft so i put it away for a rainy day, enjoy folks

Bingo. I tried using my fingernail to rub across different areas of the button while vaping, and saw the light flicker in relation to the quality of vape. I can't figure out where exactly the button "wants" to be pushed, but that does kind of narrow it down to, well, the button. Crap. That was $70 down the drain in less than 2 months. Can't say I will be running out to buy another one, honestly.

Thanks for your help all :)

I heard it's going to be a DNA 20 mod. If that is true, I surely won't be buying one anytime soon.

Unbelievable..... Another bad button! They just keep coming and coming and coming. I used to be a huge advocate for the SVD. Now, I believe it's the biggest pile of crap innokin has ever made.
If anybody is interested, I'm considering compiling a list of people who have had bad buttons on their SVD. I plan on presenting that list too innokin to see if they are willing to do anything about it. It's highly unlikely that they will, but I have a friend who is a lawyer who might be interested in picking something like this up. Every time I read about somebody who is having a button issue with their piece of junk SVD it makes my blood boil.

I am on my third replacement so add me to the list. However I am not sure it is the button itself rather than the board. At any rate they fail. I expected a fix however SVDDna20 is out so I think they are gone.

i have had the svd for a short time, what are the other options like dna?

I read people are saying 30-50 watt is the new thing, do that produce better taste?

I have been using spinners and those things since I stopped smoking 2-3 years ago. Just recently got the mvp 2 and svd, and so far I like them.

svd with five charged 18650 lasts me a week, but if theres something better I would try it.

More power does NOT automatically come hand in hand with more taste. There's a lot more to it that screwing on an atomizer and hitting the button.

I have a DNA 20 and a DNA 30. While I've had both of them "maxed out", to be perfectly honest with you, 90% of the time I'm perfectly happy in the 10-15 watt range.

I'm sure that at some point I will be buying a higher power mod, but that's more out of want than actual need.

While I concur that most flavors are great at 11-15 watts in rebuilds and (and 8-9.5 in carto tanks), there's nothing quite like cranking it up to 20 or 30 watts and pump out huge clouds with solid flavor. That said, I usually keep my scorchable flavors much lower. In the 10-15 range.

I can't go above 10W with anything but drippers. Anything else and I start tasting the wick.

The SVD is underrated I think. My nemesis clones with kicks, literally got kicked into a plastic baggy when I discovered the SVD, its all around better and less expensive. I just wish they made it with the SX350 chip for the flat DC.

I'll say that it would be underrated except for the frequent failures. Although they CAN be few and far between, there are several people that have owned more that one that bit the dust after a short period of time (myself included).

Fix the button issues and it would be at the top of the list.

I agree and I will be looking for the SX350 chip in any new device for myself since to has a range of 5 to 35 watts.
