More power does NOT automatically come hand in hand with more taste. There's a lot more to it that screwing on an atomizer and hitting the button.

I have a dna 20 and a dna 30. While I've had both of them "maxed out", to be perfectly honest with you, 90% of the time I'm perfectly happy in the 10-15 watt range.

I'm sure that at some point I will be buying a higher power mod, but that's more out of want than actual need.

I must say that MOST of the time, power DOES equate to flavor. Not always, but in most cases yes. But taste is subjective and for me and my builds, more power creates more flavor.
I think we often give advice based on our own experiences. Which is totally understandable but we need to make sure that we make it clear that each person may have a different experience.

Unbelievable..... Another bad button! They just keep coming and coming and coming. I used to be a huge advocate for the SVD. Now, I believe it's the biggest pile of crap innokin has ever made.
If anybody is interested, I'm considering compiling a list of people who have had bad buttons on their SVD. I plan on presenting that list too innokin to see if they are willing to do anything about it. It's highly unlikely that they will, but I have a friend who is a lawyer who might be interested in picking something like this up. Every time I read about somebody who is having a button issue with their piece of junk SVD it makes my blood boil.

Add me as well, 5 weeks and it is playing up. Have gone back to my MVP with the dodgy shorting out pin (that I need to fix myself at some point)

I agree and I will be looking for the SX350 chip in any new device for myself since to has a range of 5 to 35 watts.

I just saw a video last night from Yihi technology showing the new SX350 V100 running at 100 watts (0.2 ohms, 22 point something amps).

Could be interesting in a mod!

well, count me in on the fire button problem. Ordered june 30 from ft, so less than a month of use. It has random misfire and shut offs. Will probably cost the same or more to ship back on warranty.

I really like it combined with the mvp. Any other alternative that takes 18650/18350 batteries and looks flush with aerotank mega? zmax v5?

The mvp is great, but find the tube more comfortable for home for home use. Going to use the svd until it breaks first.

Have had my SVD for 12 days, from Fasttech, and now it shuts off when pushing fire button. :(

Changed the tank last nite and since then it would start up but push fire button with a tank on and the button LED would flash red, yellow, green and turn off. It is fine without a tank on and seems to function normal and I've tried different tanks with same result. Could it be a center pin issue? Is it fixable or return it?

Again, my original SVD was purchased on eBay, and failed in two weeks after pressing the button rather hard a couple of times.

My second SVD was the complete starter kit from a licensed local seller, and has lasted me for quite a while now (relatively) with little to no problem. Every once in a while it will turn off while firing, but I believe that's because I'm extra-ginger with the firing button now and I'm barely pressing it, causing it to "fire" three times, rapidly, turning it off. My fault, not my SVD's.

I do have another as a backup, but I haven't needed it yet.

I'm probably more "forgiving" of the SVD's known issues than most, if only because I think it's the best looking and best thought-out mod there is, control-wise. It's uber-easy to use.

If this one goes bad, I will get another, as a backup for my backup.

I'm DIY'ing now, so I figure that, even if I'm getting one of these every couple of months, I'm still spending less than if I were still smoking analogs.

Should we need to replace them so often? No, of course not.

Is it worth it to me? I need to say, yes.

Contact them - I've never had to pay shipping for a warranty replacement.

Might as well bite the bullet and send it in, I did.

Writing a respectful note might help, as my replacement has worked well enough for the past 6 months. Shipping wasn't a problem, though I wasn't credited (it was like $3, or something) and had to wait about 3 weeks.

I might look at ordering another one, but not from FT. I'm actually going to wait and see what the 2.0 has to offer. Maybe there'll be a 2.5 with design revisions, but that'll probably be next year sometime.

Damn. My second SVD just failed on me yesterday and had to go to my backup.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I'm going to get a fourth as a backup, and continue to use these until there's another mod with the same features and easy, lockable controls.

I'll look to see if I still have my receipt, and maybe I'll be able to get a refund. I'm not sure what their policy is (B&M).

While it has a lower max amp (3 vs. 5), and doesn't telescope (18650 only), the Tesla VV/VW might interest you.

I have both (and others), and like both, the Tesla maybe a tad more. I don't need the extra power, it's a bit lighter with the same topper, easy to adjust and lock.

My SVD is 10 months old, fire button is "soft" but it keeps on working. Not in backup, but daily rotation...

I'll certainly consider it, but I'm also biased toward the style of the SVD vs the Tesla.

I don't mind that it's 18650-only. It's probably shorter than the SVD (I haven't looked at measurements, but the SVD is LONG), but again, with all these supposed shortcomings, I just love the SVD so much.

    Maybe I'm just a little dumb. :/

Mine didn't fail completely, BTW, I just don't want to press hard on the button like I did my first. That one won't fire anymore at all, but my second (the one that just failed), will fire if you press extra-hard on the firing button.

I really gotta tear that first one apart and see if there's anything I can do about it.

I got my SVD last week, and while I could change watts at first, after an hour or so could not. It went into lock unpredictably and while in lock I could still change voltage. I gaped on it for a week while working out return procedure w K. Puncher and it produced a great value at 4.5V stuck on 2.8 watts.

I'm willing to give it a second shot but reading all the button issues here has me a little spooked. I only payer like 42 bucks for it, but....we'll see.
