More about the 801 Drip Tip on the Visions Regular:

It's fabulous, and I am not exaggerating. On a Regular, I don't need any modding other than the procedure outlined above. There is no leaking, no condensation accumulation, no bubbles and no gurgling. The steam is much warmer and the taste more intense - I assume it's because there are no obstructions within the Drip Tip, and the Drip Tip I got is shorter than the whistle tip that comes with the VR.

VRs with 801 Drip Tips have just become my absolutely positively favorite vaping setup.

Note: I did not remove the original cup seal, just moved it up a little so that it's flush with the bottom of the Drip Tip. There is no need to get rid of it, as far as I am concerned. I suppose one could cut down the tube so that the DT sits flush with the cup, but I love it as is and don't feel like fussing with it any further. Love this setup.

Bad, you've got to start carrying these DTs! :)

No leakage also when you lay the VRs horizontally?

I'm gonna order some 801 DTs and give it a shot too.

I think if the cup seal is lifted just a tad, and the DT is sitting flush with it, it can't leak no matter what you do to it, because the DT is blocking the fill slots.

Right now I pushed the cup seal down a bit, so it's not quite flush. In practical use, when people carry it around, it might slip, who knows... If I shake it upside down it will leak that way. However, I've had one lying on it's side for an hour now, and nothing. I'll leave it for another couple of hours and see.

OK, I had the carto sitting horizontal, with a small gap between the cup seal and the DT. After three hours, there was no leaking. However, with the battery end lifted at 45 degrees past horizontal or greater, it starts leaking. Just from observing it, it looks to me like this is the same dynamic as with the Flux with the conversion kit and a Drip Tip: it's not that the liquid actually leaks out of the fill slots (it does, but because of the thickness of the drip tip walls it doesn't get into the tip, or at least not much), it's more that the cup gets flooded, probably through either the wicks oversaturating, or because the wicks don't fill up the entire wick slot, and liquid leaks out through the nipple. On a Visions with a standard whistle tip this won't happen because the nipple and the tip make an air-tight seal - but this same air-tight seal creates other problems, like bubbles and gurgling. So I guess we have a choice between possible leaking when upside-down and no leaking with bubbles and gurgling (and condensation getting into the mouth once in a while, and slightly cooler vapor).

For me, the choice is obvious, since I don't carry these things upside-down, and I really don't like the standard whistle-tips. Other folks might choose differently.

And, I still haven't tried the "Ultimate Visions mod". I might today, I'm curious. What's been stopping me is that I only have about five VRs left, but since Bad said he'll put more up shortly, I'm willing to sacrifice one to the Goddess of Curiosity. :D

For that matter, I'd like to point out (as others have), that both Fluxes and Visions work great out-of-the-box. All these mods are just for those of us who enjoy fiddling and getting another 1 or 2% performance out of something that already works damn good. Plus, I like my pretty Drip Tips much too much not to find an excuse and a way to use them. :)

I really do hope that the next iteration of the Visions will utilize the Flux-like no-glue bottom seal design, and the Drip Tip single-plug design proposed earlier... The standard 510 or 801 Drip Tip can just snap into the plug, so the whole thing lifts out as one piece. Those two adjustments would make the Visions perfect - that, and purple tubes. :D

krazynavybiker,

The longer Delrin 801 style works much better then the little short ones, far better in my opinion, hope that helps, they dont cost a lot just a cheap 801 long delrin drip tip $5-$6 bucks.

Thx 4 tha help.

Thanks for the feedbacks. Able to use drip tips on them are cool. Was just wondering if they'll leak when i put them in my pocket with drip tips. The original whistle tip on the regular vision is fine, just have to becareful not to draw too hard. Pushing the inner plug tighter on the coil cup helps to reduce flooding on the coil.

Like you guys have said, there are room for improvements to make it perfect.

Briar - If you think the change was good by getting rid of all those obstructions in the mouthpiece, you should try cutting the cup nipple off and open the air passage more. The change in flavor and warmth is just as drastic if not more so. From what I have seen the inner cup ring does nothing to prevent leakage. It's all stopped on the outside BEFORE it enters the cup area so long as you don't pull the cup seal up too far.

btw... The metal cap end of a cheap Pentel mechanical pencil is the perfect diameter for opening up and removing the center cup nipple. ;)

Yup, absolutely this. A totally clear path from the coil to the mouth (i.e. nothing covering any part of the cup) is the only way to vape a CE2 as far as I'm concerned. I don't think it gets better than that. :)

Oh, I'll do that, definitely. I just want to do it with the drip tip rather than fiddling with the original whistle tip... Will have to cut down the tube though, and make that hole in the cup seal. That's the problem for now. I only have two VRs left, and I don't have a hole punch or a mechanical pencil. I need money to buy that stuff, and I'm out.

It's like this: after my last paycheck, it was, like, buy vaping stuff or eat... buy vaping stuff or eat... buy vaping stuff or eat... Guess what I did? I now have nine bucks to my name, but lots of new juices and a nifty Stingray kit (which unfortunately has to be returned for Daniel's perusal due to tech problem).

And, guess what? It's still cheaper than smoking, since here in NYS a pack can run as much as 12 bucks. I was spending close to 80 bucks a week for cancer sticks, can you believe that? Even with buying a ProVari, I'm no-where near that much with vaping!

I understand about money being tight. We have to squeeze every damn penny now-a-days. And I fear it's going to get much worse before it gets better.

If you get the itch to open that cup seal up, just look around your house. I'm sure you got somethin to punch a hole with. I haven't checked yet but I'm guessing one of my spent 223 cartridges would do the job as well. lol If you don't have any cartridges you could go to your local rifle range and pick one (or 20,000) up "dirt" cheap. ;) Might want to wash the dirt off it before ya use it though. :)

Prices aren't that much different here, either. I was paying upwards of $300+ a month for my cancer sticks. That's a ProVari and some juice every single month.

Here's the mouthpiece I've been using on the regulars since I got them. It's from a 3.5ml clear dual coil carto and works great.
