Good review as usual. But his complaint with the 1.5 DC cartos just highlights a broader subject. Just like voltage isn't everything, wattage isn't everything either. Many atties/cartos will be optimal around 9.5 watts, but others, because of mysterious internals factors, are optimal higher or lower, e.g. the clear Turbo eGo cartos are 3 ohm devices that amazingly seem to work very well on an eGo battery, and are optimal around 5 watts. A Kick set to 9.5 watts would feed it 5+ volts and blow the coil. At least in the XL, it's not that hard to get at the pot to adjust it, though it's facing the wrong way. It just goes to show, there will always be more stuff to buy, and wait by the mailbox for ;-)

that is amazing... yes, another example that baffles me is: the SR 901 atty is around 2.8 to 3.1 Ohm, yet does well with low voltage and IS designed for lower voltage ( i use them from 3.4 to 4.2v).
The 510 SR is 2.2 to 2.6 or so and requires at least low voltage and sometimes more.

okay so i'm old, and slow....I'm searching for the easiest Kick modding of the VMOD XL.
I'm seeing people talking about it but no good pictures or instructions that I can use.
can anyone help me with a link or something that an old ,slow guy like me can understand?

Can you solder? If so Cracker's version looks pretty darn easy:

If not, then Chadster's version is probably the way to go:
this is just my mock up version. I will finalize it once I'm happy with my design. no soldering required and it works!

Kick is a big plus for this device.

I started to think about buying the kick, but I know one thing:

the only correct place to kick in xl is above the bottle, no 18 500 or others, 18 650 only, so if i decide to buy the kick is just the kind of system will apply.

I hesitate because i found cheap attys (1.6 ohm bridgeless no name for $ 4), which burns well even at a voltage of 3,3-3,4 V, so one battery is enough for about 5-6 ml of liquid(24h) without compromising the quality of vaping - so it may not need to kick;)

Yeah, optimizing juice for fine taste and least risk of toxicity is my focus too. Since the constant wattage theory doesn't really work, i like a voltage adjustable like the ProVari to quickly switch cartos/tanks. I can believe that with a Kick an XL can use a SR atty with good performance. For heavy go to vaping, the standard 3.7v XL with the right LR atty works amazingly well. No hurry to buy more gear, I only finally found a charger for the 4.8 v NiMH batteries i bought for no good reason. Anybody still happily using those?

HUH? What are you referring to?

Still HUH?

Who said the constant wattage theory doesn't work? To what are you referring? Not work for what?

With good connections, the Kick works great and does what it says it does, from my experience. I haven't modded my XL, so I have no experience with any of those modding solutions. I can say that I have been very pleased with the wiring modification I had done on my wood feeder & it works beautifully. The battery cut off happens within the ranges Evolv lists, too.

Please -- not necessarily here, but write in to one of the Kick threads (now in modding section) if you are having trouble---or sign up at the Evolv site forum and ask questions there.

TL, got am email from Skinny and he is super busy over in China. Nothing specific but I'm sure he is working on vapage goodies as well as the cig2o line.

I asked skinny for a Kick mod insert that we can use for the V-Mod XL. he asked me to send pictures of the one I designed. and He said that he was looking into this too and to sell it for a reasonable price. I hope this goes through..

All we really need is a thin tube that we can slide a 18490 and a kick in to and then put in the xl or even a tube cut in half I've been sayin this from day one

thin tube will work but we want something that we set and forget.

With the set and forget the kick will be loose and kick could spin around an lose ground connection from carrying in your pocket but with a tube it doesn't matter if it spins

I placed an o-ring on the body of the Kick and never had that spin problem. and I have my V-Mod in my pocket the whole time i'm working.

Yea I seen that I'm just sayin with a tube you could kick any vmod xl in seconds so if your like me and have three xls but you only have one kick you could switch it out in seconds nothing to set or nothing to forget

I see where you're coming from since you have 3 V-Mod XLs. I was thinking differently when I design my mod since I have only 1 V-Mod XL I kinda want something that I can set and forget.

I've already moded all of them for the kick so I can switch them out but I would still like to see vapage come out with some thing like a tube for the kick so any one could get up and running in seconds with no fuss just simple just plug and play
