Ok I am thinking of trying one more time with the little Vmod if you all can help me.First i will choose a name before buying one this time.

My questions are:

Will a RM2 work with out modding on the small Vmod? If so what is the ring size needed to put under the RM2 to close the gap. I use have both the standard and milled rm2's. I don't want any other rba because this one is easy for me to put coils on.

Has anyone successfully filed or sandpapered the sharp bottom and top of the outside skin? Could it be done? And no i don't want a piece of fabric glued to the bottom plus that wouldn't help with the top part. I tried the bottom fix before and it was wobbly to stand up :(

That is the 2 most important questions for now.
As I've not sanded the sharp edges, I can't really answer your question. But from working with wood and metal before, I can say that yes it can be done. An alternative to using sand paper is using a small needle file to soften the edges. May not take as long either. I've also used a knife drawn across a sharp edge at 90 degrees to the sharp edge ti soften it. Just make sure it's a knife you don't want or need to use again.

I'm still working on getting my A7 to work on my xl. Maybe when my second one :thumbs: gets in, I'll be able to devote more time to get it working.

I can't answer the RBA question however I can say something to the sharp edges. I have two xl's one with the wood grain cover and the other one is the standard cover that comes with it. I can tell you from my experience the wood grain cover is not as "sharp" as the ones that come with it. The wood grain also has a softer coating which makes it very comfortable in the hand. Now from my understanding it is all the graphic ones that have this coating but I could be wrong. As far as the sharpest part to me is the black part of the bottom chassis that catches the cover. I have not thought about sanding it but I may give it a shot and report back.

Hope it works out for you and to be honest I bought one a while back from a great member on here ;) that even gave me all the steps and suggestions to get me on the way but it just did not work for me but I also was still trying to quit the stinkies so I ended u trying again after I had fully quit and it made the world of difference, I think it was my patience that got me last time.

I will definitely order another one on the half off sale as well as stock up on some slant coil atties. I have several drippers and RBAs and had a Penelope but to me I get a much better vape and less hassle off the 2.0 slant coil atties from vapage. In fact I just sold my Penelope. Will likely sale my other RBA's as well as they sit on the shelf at the moment.

For me the vmods are my go to's at the moment. I take both of them everywhere I go....and I have had many mods including a billet box and I still think I prefer the vmod over the others. I have officially stopped looking for "the perfect" vape gear. The only other mod I may get is the innokin VTR.

Don't get me wrong i still have some frustrations from time to time but nothing a good vmod bath and fresh atty won't cure.

I may try a reo one day but for now I am pretty satisfied as far as hardware. The main thing i need now is Moe atties, moe atties, moe atties. I have a half dozen or more of the silos still new but I don't use those.

Here's a fancy one someone did along with her technique and some good recommendations on paint.

"I love rustoleums hammered metal spray paints! I think it almost looks like a fossil.

I used some lazer cut stickers then sprayed over everything and then filled in with some polishes and added the stones for eyes.....easy peazy!

I just picked up some of their colorshift paint at Lowes, it's pricey, I think about 15-16. for a can. It's just like the colorshift paint they use for cars, one is a blue/purple, the other is green/gold. I can't wait to try them out!"

VmodDragonfly_zps031da50d.jpg

And here's a comment about preparation for painting:

"Yeah, you want to get all the shiny off, so that the [new] paint can adhere properly. Once the finish is off, clean clean clean - then spray."

I don't know it that would be necessary for rustoleum --- I'd have to re-read the instructions on the can.

I leave for one hour and you got a VMOD, _more_?? Good job hon! Welcome to the thread, Chance.

I have no idea on the RM2 as to whether it'll work unmodified on the VMOD. I must defer to our resident RBA'ers... Eddie, Kemo, muzik (I think... I'm sure there's lots more peeps).

The A7 (and yes, Kemo has the baby Vmod with the A7 on top) will work with no modification other than a teeny silicone gasket (which you can fashion out of a carto condom). The squid by Eddie has some mods done to it.

Funny that the sharpness issue has come up today. Thru the advice of fourth, I decided to try my crafty little hands at making something so the Vmod would stop biting me in the flesh. I didn't have the right tape, glue, or felt. LOL. So I used a piece of stick on velcro and it has helped somewhat. I think it might be time for that detailed lesson in filing, BadDad.

Oh, and mine is not terribly wobbly. Just like it's had 1/2 a drink. ;)

Agree that the graphic shells are by FAR more comfy. They have a strange softness to them, plus welp, they're adorable!! The Jwraps might be an idea too, but I don't think they'd necessarily change the sharpness of the chassis.

Ahh, Crocky, you made me laugh at your comment about no longer looking for "the perfect" vape gear. I have the perfect vape gear. It's the one that's clean, full, and working. ;)

lil LuLu, thanks for the compliments! From one cartoon to another. :D

Vmod and A7 was a pain for me. Had to find the right combo of orings to either get it to fire or feed. I didn't try my rm2, but imagine it'd be the same.

As far as 14500 and low ohms, I run 1.1 on my Reo mini. Batteries don't last long, but I've been doing it since June with no issues.

which do I prefer? Hard to say. When the Reo fires reliably you can't beat it. But I've not had an issue with the vmod other than squonking instead of firing. But that's me being dumb.

I've carried the vmod daily since I got them.

This time i will keep my vmod. At least one different type of bottom feeder never hurt anyone :)

Ok i love making stories and have made many for my REO experiences.

Here is my first story for Vmod.

In a land far away lived the Vmodians. They had a way that was called bottom feeders and called me to come and see them. So i did briefly and was at first enchanted and charmed by all that i saw and heard there.

I wanted to try another bottom feeder that was beckoning me from another shore so I went to REOland. As long as i dwelt in the REOnation I never forgot the Vmodians. Even though i had left from there abruptly, i always went back to see them.

The problems i had with understanding were my own and not the fault of anyone. I called a truce along with some friendly native Vmodians.Setting out to overcome my former difficulties with bottom fed Vmods i asked questions. The Vmodians answered with patience and told me that some people use both REOs and Vmods.

The solution was to find another Vmod to have as my own.LO and BEHOLD the classies i cried. Sure enough as though it was a sign there was the best deal i could ever imagine! I got my Chance and took it :)

This is not the end but a new beginning :toast:

Rickajho, My daughter is grown now but she did like my stories and the pictures i drew with them. She was my singer and i was her storyteller. We were poor as dirt but sometimes the best entertainment is free. We still laugh about the big pantyhose doll I made her one night and our dog thought it was a stranger because he barked at it.

I remember muzichead saying he did no modding with the A7 on his Vmod...just used a 510 to 510 adapter and removed the chimney. I also saw something about putting a piece of electrical tape somewhere (hmmmm...having an attack of CRS here) to help close the gap between the rba and the chassis. I feel sure you can use the rm2, but no idea about the details. I'm still struggling to get a consistent vape out of the A7 on my Bogger! Sigh. I've tried the prewound wicks like you suggested, _more_, but had no real luck. Got one hand made coil built right last week...but when I changed the cotton it jumped ohms on me. Taking a break from rbas for a bit before I try again.

I use the amg slant coils...2ohm. I do not tip the nose down to feed, but hold the Vmod horizontally then lightly tap the bottle. When I hear a tiny little mini "squirk" I know it's fed and proceed to vape. When the bottle is about 2/3 to 3/4 empty I refill. If you tip slightly while vaping and do not squeeze the bottle at all, you can vape the juice farther down to about empty. I haven't perfected that technique, however.

Congrats on getting Chance _more_! I hope things go better this time. Also hope we find out a good way to ease the edges for ya. I suspect sanding is going to be the best bet.

That's pretty inventive tearose. Me, I'd just probably get a vinyl wrap and be done with it. But I'm a guy and my idea of decorating anything is "that looks good to me Honey". In other words, the Boss Lady does the decorating and I agree it looks great. Learned a long time ago, that's the best way to decorate.

I do have a question for my fellow Vmod friends, what battery are you using in your xl? I'm finding that the ones I have are not lasting as long as I had hoped. They came with the first tube mod I graduated to, almost a year ago. They come out of the charger at 3.8 but they don't seem to last very long. So I'm guessing I need to replace them but I'd like to know what everybody else is using.
I haven't heard much good about the ones Vapage sell, not that I think they are bad, mind you, just not as good as we can get. SO I'm interested in opinions.

Hey 2423kids, would it be in bad taste if I told you I have 2 grills and a smoker?

tearose, I'm still looking for that part to fix my Revo, still searching with hope. So I haven't forgiven up on it yet.

Hey fourthrok, Glad to see you still around. I'm like you, just enjoy tinkering with stuff to see what works and what doesn't.

And welcome to _more_ for rejoining the mad little group we have. I say the more the merrier and that's enough of my rambling for one night.

BadDad, I like the AW IMR 18650s for the XL, as well as the 4.8v green batts (for a 5v vape). I don't think anyone can ever go wrong with the AW IMRs.

Which ones do you have/use?

Yours come off the charger at 3.8?? They should be 4.2 hon... hmmmmm

And what charger are you using?

If you decide to go with the AWs, RTD is a solid, popular, ECF supporting, reliable, reasonable vendor. (rtdvapor.com)
