The Vmod XL 18650 Bottom Feeding Mod from Vapage - Part 2

I just switched to an IKV 1.8 510 while I rinse my 357 and it's better in many respects, like the bridge prevents hot juice catapulting, the smaller chamber under the coil gives a steadier feed, there's even a slightly greater vapor quality to it, but the flavor unfortunately is significantly more muted. My next 357 is going to be long barrel for sure, and I'm wondering if bridgeless is really necessary on a bottom feeder. If there is an atty with the taste power of a 357 but bridged, I'd like to try it.

@ukeperson, I'm lost now, where are tha AVAs carried? Ah I see em at Kokomo. But looking at the photos, how do they fit in the Vmod?

Another tetimony; Once you try a 357 you are spoiled for anything else.
The upside is that this atty, while not a beginners atomizer, you don't need an expensive VV to get a great vape.
The 357 LR 1.5 (soon V2) will be killer on any 3.7 device including the VMod. Regardless of the conventional wisdom, I use 357 on my eGo as well as Provari with the same results.

If you want to use a b/f, some of those are now carrying a b/f model... and there are the "USA 510 standard" which just means it doesn't have that big lip at the top.

I only use it on a VMax which with its extra punch, seems to make the AVA really shine. (LR 1.7 Ohm at 3.5 or 3.6v) It leaks like hell though.

@fernand, I've learned since using the 357, an atty that you want to make last as long as possible, that vodka soaking and blowing (from the connector end only, with the 357) is the best, (safest) way to keep them clean and working right....

In the past, whenever i've cleaned an atty they seemed to be only temporarily better, and the cleaning only hastened their demise anyway....
now however, I clean these puppies religiously at least once a week.
just wondering if you agree...

imo the AVA LR at 1.7 would be tiresome to try and use on a 3.7 device... ymmv.

My Aero's stopped spitting after a few weeks and still enjoying them but if pressed into a corner have to say I think I prefer the LR 306.

The reason I haven't leaped at the 357 is that I wanted to use everything I have for sometime so I had actually had experience of the atty's I have before trying it. Avid's stand at Vapestock is going to be the first place I head to with money clenched in hand. Must confess I am also interested to see if there is any info about the atty tank that would see me drop carto tanks in a heartbeat on my ProVari if it works out.

My aero will spit, or at least i will get juice coming up if it has a tad too much juice in it; won't vape as well either; but that's my mantra "just the right amount of juice".
I want a nice short (just for profile... actually longer works better) Trippy Tip pyrex to optimize juice cooperation with gravity. Maybe a fix like Hanna showed in a vid where he put something at the bottom of the d/t to shield spitting...

anything custom by Hanna has my full attention - the Tank.
He does have a line of Chinese cartos (?) i think, coming out soon.... but with a disclaimer; "not as good".

When I got the Aeros I had a piece of inverted plastic in the drip tip that was there for ages.

Did a job. Dropped out though and only notice a week or so back lol

I never dropped mine at all! and it still cracked! and they take weeks before they send a warranty replacement out! I'm starting to dislike V-MOD now! I think I'll just go back to my MAP tank setup with my Provari.

This may cause eruptions but while I am enjoying the Grand think I prefer the VMod.

Will see when I get it back and which gets to play back up. In the battle of the ProVari's Mini stays at home most often so let's see between Reo and VMod.

My thought's Exactly, have a chassis CNC'd from aluminum!! I myself am thinking of ordering another and having a local CNC shop replicate it, then rip it apart and drop the feed chamber into it!!

there's a weakness in the plastic housing for some reason they are prone to cracking there. some stress point.
If it cracks after your warranty period, 6 months, you have no choice but to live with it or super glue it.
Send it in just before the warranty is up and they'll replace it with a fresh unit.
it does take weeks...

Yes i have the same setup ... Reo Grand and XL Vmod.... the VmodXL is much lighter, but either one will be kept in my vehicle in the door pocket... I like the XL a whole lot, but it's not an indestructible Grand. Neither vapes better than the other imo. +2

Its the plastic housing right above the bottle threads... quite a few have mentioned it... i sent mine in and got a new one back in about 4 weeks.

Hey gang! Long time...I moved on to rebuildables, but the other half still vapes a Vmod.

The plastic has been an issue from the start. I suggested a metal chassis last year. Bet several did but I think the cost and form factor could be prohibative. I know from canabalizing, the plastic (in part) only holds the feed cylinder. Glue will work but often has to be re-applied. What you have to watch is vertical slippage of the cylinder. If it slips too far you will get a dead short and the spring will collapse. btdt

Has anyone tried the new 18700 batteries in the Vmod XL? They say they measure 70mm tall. I'm wondering if they fit in the XL.
