They are XTAR 18700 3.7v 2600mAh Sanyo Protected Batteries. Xtar description says they have two improvements over 18650 Protected batts. Improved anti-drop and impact resistant PCB and increase the limiting current on the PCB to better handle high demands of high power devices.

They sound promising. Just waiting to get my XL so I can measure and see if they would fit in the chassis.

Its the plastic housing right above the bottle threads... quite a few have mentioned it... i sent mine in and got a new one back in about 4 weeks.
