Going to go with no lol

Didn't know they existed to be honest.

Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk 2

They are xtar 18700 3.7v 2600mAh Sanyo Protected batteries. xtar description says they have two improvements over 18650 Protected batts. Improved anti-drop and impact resistant PCB and increase the limiting current on the PCB to better handle high demands of high power devices.

Here is a post on CandlePowerForums showing some testing and comparisons - Xtar 18700 Batteries Test [ 2200-2400-2600 ]

They sound promising. Just waiting to get my XL so I can measure and see if they would fit in the chassis.

FWIW I just measured the space with an 18650 installed. There's 3/16" of potential spring compression room (or likely have to cut the spring down some). 3/16" = 4.7625mm, so IF the 18700 is indeed 5mm longer than an 18650 then I'd say it won't fit.

I measured the battery space from plastic to plastic and come up with 2.8125" or 71.435mm so it's certainly CLOSE to fitting. The 18650's I have (UltraFire brand - I know, not the best but then I don't usually like 18650 mods) measure 66.675mm

So my batteries are 1.675mm longer than their "size" (the "65" from the 18650). If the 18700 follow that same pattern and are 1.675mm longer, so 71.675 than no they won't fit.

All that said, I think you CAN get them to fit! There's easily 1.5-2mm of additional length if you modify the spring end slightly. By removing the spring and the plastic retaining channels you'd have about 73mm, which the battery should fit in.

Of course without an accurate measurement of the batteries length it's hard to say definitavely but IMHO it's highly likely.

BTW, I found a post by the same tester and it lists the length! Xtar 18700 batteries tested 2200-2400-2600 | BudgetLightForum.com

Xtar 18700 2200mAh Diameter - 18.4mm Length - 68.8mm
Xtar 18700 2400mAh Dia - 18.5mm L- 69.2mm
Xtar 18700 2600mAh [ Built on a Sanyo 2600mAh cell ] Dia- 18.5mm L-69.2mm

So if those are accurate (and I have no reason to believe they're not) it actually is slightly SHORTER than 70mm! They should fit without modifying any of the chassis, just the spring will likely have to be shortened.

I'm sure you know this, but many many different 18650's button top, flat top, different mah, brands... the key is which fit and which don't.
I have a flat top P18650 AW that won't fit any mod i have; yet.

Oh one question though... and here's where my battery naivety really shows... in the tests the AW 2600 actually appears to outperform the 18700's (or at least be equal to them)?
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/super-t-manufacturing/239453-aw-p18650-3100mah-introductory-sale.html

It looks to me like the Panasonic IMR would also fall right in there performance wise? http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/super-t-manufacturing/295446-load-testing-panasonic-imr-18650-2250mah-cgr18650ch-stock.html

What am I missing/misunderstanding? What benefit is there (with vaping loads) of the 18700 over an 18650?
