The Vmod XL 18650 Bottom Feeding Mod from Vapage - Part 2

oh wow, I took the kick out of my XL because I hated the battery life of the 18490. Got the 1.5 vapage atty today and it's PERFECT with the 18650 alone. YAY, an all day vape with no fiddling and fussing!

I hadn't installed my Kick yet, and now I'm not sure if I'm going to. The 1.5 on it vapes wonderfully. I might do it just for consistancy in vaping as the battery drains down (I'm planning on stashing it under the bottle to keep the 18650).

New gen. hybrid atomizers (Shifu, Aero, HH357) at 1.5 Ohms have rendered VV almost obsolete. jk. But for those that don't use VV for whatever reasons, the grass is NOT greener anymore on that side of the fence. yah!

Playing with the Kick and a 2.8 ohm Vivi Nova at the moment.

For $3 an atty you know it isn't bad at all lol All I have done with the one I am using is give it a haircut losing most of the dangly bits.

It isn't 357 good but I am afraid it kicks most others and is running quite close behind the Aero. Still haven't got the new Hybrids but will add them to my often mentioned list.

I received my VmodXL today and 1.5 atomizer from Vapage. I'm having a hard time loading enough juice, though admittedly I like them pretty flooded. Tilt - squeeze - tilt squeeze. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

FWIW 18650 with 1.5 Ohm seems perfect. After being all VV, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Maybe, a lil' less squeeze? when you release the squeeze, it will suck the juice back into the bottle. Try tilting it and while it's tilted, give it a good dry pull. After that, tilt every so often while puffing and the heat will pull the juice into the atty. And like kat say's, a good soaking does a "Shifu" good:thumbs:

Don't be disheartened.

Every bottom feeder seems to behave differently and every atty or carto you put in it. It usually only takes a couple of hours to work out what works for you.

A method I use most of the time is to hold the VMod at an angle so you are feeding while vaping. Have to watch that angle though or you may end up with some juice hitting your tongue. You also go through quite a bit of juice but that vape has to come from somewhere !

Interesting ... I've always been afraid of overfeeding, which is my bane especially with bottom feeders. I tend to be stingy with the squeeze since I'd rather it be a little dry than too wet because then i have to suffer through or take off the atty and blow it out (from the bottom).
No wonder it takes so long for me to go through the juice (the XL does have a big bottle).

But yeah, like Andy says, i do tend to tilt it as i vape, and after a vape I tilt it some more - you can see that juice is getting in there as it will show some tuffs of vapor from the last firing.

Thanks to this issue, and comments about it being hard to flood the Shifu, I'll be upping my rations.
Using Shifu on both b/f's Reo Grand and XL

Shifu = best atomizer deal on the planet (even without the 50 off)

I like them better than the Aero but they are very close. I use 357's and AVA's and Shifu's every day.

I received my order today! I ordered 2 XL Premium kits, extra bottles, extra 18650 batts, spare O-rings....everything we would need.

I was so dejected after opening the box.

I received 2 premium V2 kits, the extra 18650 batteries that will no way fit V2’s, XL O-rings (I don’t know if they can be made to fit the V2), and extra 4.5ml bottles, which are the only extras that actually go with the V2’s. What a mismatched mess!

The items matched the packing slip exactly, so the box was packed correctly according to the packing slip.
It is just not what I ordered.

I am a day sleeper, so I discovered all of this long after they closed for the day. I will have to call them tomorrow.

OMG! I am a flippin idiot sometimes!

I finished my second cup of wake-up coffee and had a brilliant thought, just go to the website and check my order history to find the error.

Apparently, I am the error. It says I ordered this.

The atomizers are on back-order, but apparently I ordered this mismatched mess myself.

This is not good.

I'm waiting for the arrival of my VMOD XL (any day now!). and would love to hear more from anyone who has put the Kick under the bottle so that they can continue with the 18650.

I've seen the one video but are there any others? Has anyone tried and failed in this approach? and why?

There's a youtube video showing how it works. It was posted somewhere in the original VMod XL thread. Try going to youtube and searching VMod XL and Kick and it should come up. I haven't heard of anybody trying and failing. I have heard that you need to shave the top of the bottle a little to make it fit.

The only video I've seen is pacman1372's with the Kick in the position bellow the bottle.

I'm looking for some setup that will allow me to take my Kick out at will without having to mess with the type of connections he has done. Something like this ....

VMod XL Kick.jpg

.... but there is an issue with removing the bottle without ripping out the "C" shaped mold . Making the mold hinged or that it could be pulled aside would mean extra wire, not very clean or user friendly.

Any ideas?

Seems that is Sahill's youtube name.

Must confess all I have done is copy his original idea. Just replacing the rubber he placed between the battery and firing pin with a flexible piece of plastic.

By the way for size purposes the size of the plastic is exactly the same as the bottom of the cone, handy. If you have any juice cartons I used that little piece you remove that keeps the juice fresh then cut down to the size of the air cone.

Let me ponder the issue for a bit. May take a day or so but know I have seen an application that would work...if only I could remember what is was and were it is lol

GOT VAPEMAIL!!!! Got my Vmod XL! Yeah.

Got the digital caliper out and went straight to work measuring the real estate available under the bottle. :(

Even after shortening the bottle top ... not a chance.

Skinny! You need to make me a smaller bottle with those threads 'cause I've figured out a way to do the "C" shape basket so that it won't interfere with the bottle removal. Make me a bottle that is 3.86 mm shorter and I got it. Clean and pretty.

Of course the entire chassis could be lengthened but that wouldn't make any sense.

Even without the Kick I'm enjoying the vape with the 1.5 Hybrid BF :vapor:
