Hi, i received my VMOD XL yesterday, like it so far.
First thing is that the charger that comes with this device is only a 330 mA charger, so charging these large 18650s is going to take some time. I have a 1000 mA charger that I am using instead.
Anyways, on to my issue- I have an Aero 510 1.5 ohm atomizer that i have been using for a few weeks now on my Ego twist batteries, love it so far. However, it won't fire on the VMOD. The included atomizer (2.5 ohm bridgeless) fires, but I'm not a huge fan of it, the resistance is too high and the draw is too tight, and the flavor is nothing like my Aero. Anyone have any input as to why the Aero may not be firing on this unit? I have read other threads/posts where people are using the aero on the vmod, so I am hopeful that I can get it to work.
Thanks!
Edit- I just tried pulling the bottom center pin down on the aero atomizer, now I get a little puff, but nothing at all substantial. I see that there is an adjustable pin that is the atomizer contact in the Vmod, i tried turning it with a flathead screwdriver to bring it up higher, but I can't be sure if it is raising at all. Any input on this?

Ahhhhhhhh ... NOW he tells me it'll take FOREVER to charge the batt with included charger! LOL! Well, at this point it's the only charger I have ... But thanks for pointing that out scottic2!! Five hours last night and I never got a green light! Same thing this morning with a different batt, so it's the slow charger! ;-) Gotta tell ya guys & gals ... REALLY liking this Vmod!!! And I have yet to try the ShiFu! VERY happy vaper here!! :)

Yeah, the battery was pretty dead when i received it. If you divide the mAh rating of the battery (2200) by the mAh that the charger provides (330) you get 6.66 hours- not sure if it actually works this way, but that would tell me it takes almost 7 hours to charge the included Vmod battery from a completely discharged state.

I'm still here on ECF... sort of. ;)

Hmmm that's a mystery to me. I only found that most attys on the XL seem to take more physical threading-in than any other device... must be because of the o-rings and the deep well of the "chamber" . Now that you mention it, I remember when i first got the XL how I would have to push as I threaded. and I kept checking to see if it would fire as too much pressure can indeed shut down the center pin.

I'd pick up a Shifu 1.5 set anyway. Try another 1.5. ( i think 1.5 is the only way to go myself)

Nice catch on the charger rating... 2423 I'd get a decent charger. Batts and chargers are something that are not something to skimp on... safety and performance.

you mean flat top?
Yeah i'm surprised too.... could be a mistake, but some flat tops do work. just gotta try it. I'd contact them too.
Just saying, I always use AW IMR's especially if i'm using LR atomizers. Not entirely necessary but again "quality, safety and performance"
i just joined the vmod xl club thanks to the 50% off sale.i was surprized they sent a fat top battery.do most people use this?

yeah should be fine...
i remember back in the beginning (for me) when my guru/mentors would always harp on batt safety/quality and charging is a ground zero for danger albeit not commonplace.... get the best, and have backups for your backups.
ya i left the L out of flat top.i went ahead and tryed it,works fine.its a cl icr 18650 2200mah that came with the kit.

The Best for the Vmod is the new vapage ShiFu (slant coil) atty. :)

It's new and everyone hasn't tried it yet.

I've been happily vaping mine for over 30 mils so far without a hitch nor any impulse to clean.

If you click the link, you'll see a couple of comparisons with the HH357 there with people just trying the ShiFu. Both are loved.

Depends on your experience too; some may say the HH357 is the only way to go for "best" and i'd agree, but there is a degree of experience required; imo the HH357 is the best atomizer in the evolution so far; and i say this because i've had a couple years of dripping with just about every atomizer made (even rebuilds).
Best to get some of each of what most like on the XL.
I don't see how some don't like the 1.5 Ohm LR because I'd guess the true voltage of the XL w/ 18650 is about 3.4v. Nevertheless, a milder vape would be 2.0 Ohm.
Here's my list: (the 1.5 Ohm hybrids are a cooler vape than conventional 1.5's)

1. HH357 short or long 1.5 LR - HH357 are hand assembled thus the cost.

2. Shifu 1.5 or Aero (1.5) very similar....both of these baddies are designed like the HH357 on visual inspection; except the slant coil of the Shifu.

I spent time with cheaper atty's before going for the more expensive one's as I found feeding atty's a learning curve and the HH357 weighs in at over $20 so wanted to make certain I knew what I was doing rather than mess it up.

Nothing against the Shifu just never used it. Certain it is as great as said just haven't got there yet. Just lately been using the Vivi Nova rebuildable at 1.3 and been rather happy with the experience.

Thanks for the input. I have tried screwing the aero on loosely and as I could get it, to no avail. I guess i need to contact Vapage CS to see if they have any input.
I think between yourself and Andy, you sold me on the Vmod along with the Aero and HH.357 1.5 ohm. Unfortunately, my HH 357 came in working about halfway (based on the videos that I saw), so I sent it back to Hanna, I am waiting for it to get shipped back to me. The agony...
Will look into the Shifu. Unfortunately i don't have another 510 atomizer here to test the Vmod with. I really don't like the atty that came with it. I have a feeling that there is an adjustment that needs to be made on my Vmod to get this aero to work. As i said, I'll contact Vapage and see if they have any input.
Thanks again.

Exactly. The charger that comes with this device is poorly built (the battery likes to fall out of the + end) and is VERY slow to charge. Glad I have the 1000 mAh charger that came with my PS Prodigy 3.1 from a few years back.
