I'm pretty new to DYI, but am a loyal client of Wizard!!! My first order, I went through the site, put together everything I thought I needed for my start-up "lab". I placed the order online, my base, PG and VG, about 20 different flavors, the syringes, bottles and various other things I figured I needed to begin mixing. I placed a note in the comment section of the order, explaining that I was a green horn, and asking that if I missed anything that was blatantly missing, to please add it to my fee and I would happily pay. Two or three little things I missed were in the package when it arrived, no extra charge. I haven't had good reason to call with my orders, sorta disappointed on that, just to have a reason to thank John for having a great business, and going the extra mile to keep his customers happy...

I placed my first order with them On the 17th.. "just in the Nic of time".. No pun intended.:vapor:

Ofcourse, it was the end of the week with a Holiday on Monday and with a relocation in progress.. lol what a way to start.. hahahah

Good thing is is that I live in Central Florida and I'm sure my order will arrive quickly.
.

edit:

Once their settled in, I'll be able to just drive on over to their new facility and purchase in person.:p

I have to second your comments about the great service from WL. I got an order in late last week that had been sitting in my cart for a while. As a result of how long it was there, the carrier for the nicotine was lost, somehow. I got a call on Saturday, at noon or so, from WL to get that information so my order can be completed. Late nights, working Saturdays...I sure hope John and his whole crew don't get burned out.

I agree, hopefully they don't get overworked due to all of our orders and eventually burn out! I messaged them and mentioned having a company day each month, maybe after hours or on the weekends, where they could all sit back and have a pizza and some beer, just to keep spirits up for everyone since they work so damn hard to keep us happy! :)

Hopefully they already do something like that, or if not then hopefully they'll think it over. As hard as they work every day they need to keep everyone happy and in a good mood while they work, otherwise like you mentioned they'll get burned out eventually.

Hopefully that never happens!

Huge thanks to everyone at Wizard Labs for all that you do, we all appreciate it very much, and wish you a smooth transition to your new location!

This is my second go round with DIY. 1st time about a year ago was a failure. This go round is going much better. I can actually vape some (not all) of what I make now. I don't think it's anything I am doing wrong. It's just a matter of coming up with something my taste buds like. WL has provided me much stuff to experiment with.
Are there any general guidelines for sweeteners. EM or Sucralose. Is one or the other better suited for any type of flavors or are they pretty much OK to use with anything? How about both in the same mix?
Also the same question for lemon juice or vinegar. Is either one better suited for a particular flavor family?

EM kinda dulls the flavor and is not super sweet. Sucralose is VERY strong, so don't overdo.
Tobacco flavors are the toughest and require the most steeping
Bakery flavors are easier and require less steeping
Coffee flavors are tough.. period
Fruits are the easiest and some don't need steeping at all. The percentages vary but start small and increase slowly. TFA Smooth mellows flavors out and makes them less harsh.Vinegar and lemon juice affect the acidity and are supposed to mellow flavors out too. I don't use either. I try to keep flavor percentages less than 20 %.
GOOD LUCK!

Now that is the post I've been looking for, a quick concise rundown of diy flavor tips. Thanks.

I received my second order from WL day before yesterday and I am now happier than a pig in slop. It's so nice to have the little surprise gift they send when you order from them. I am slowly building up a nice little flavor inventory and having so much fun experimenting with the different flavors. Their service is second to none, and packaging is by far the best. It must be nice to have the success they seem to be having, but, that success came from their fantastic effort to please their customers. Two thumbs up, and since I'm missing half of a finger, seven and a half fingers to add to the thumbs.

Hi all....siked to try this DIY thing and from all the reviews gonna use Wizards for this first go around. Been reading reading reading and honestly.....I'm overwhelmed!!!! I have a few basic questions so please bear with me. 3 + years of vaping and my preferences are simple: PG, 10-12mg nic, a nice RY4 and the occasional tobacco = :vapor:

That said...my questions:
1. If I get the 12mg/ml Nicotine Solution in PG, will I only need to mix the right amount of flavor? Or need to still add PG? From what Im seeing it looks like a direct mix but making sure.

2. Will I still need to steep simple mixes like this or is that for the complex mixes?

3. In hoping the answer to question 1 yes, Is there a simple mixing calculator to show the mix ratio for say a 10ml and 30ml bottle? Please forgive this one as my math skills are nil. I saw a few calculators in the threads with lots of input spaces.....got a little freaked...

Thanks in advance to all. I have measuring syringes, lots of bottles......finger on the trigger....

Sitting down, facing forward.
If you're going to order 12mg nicotine you should order it in the ratio of PG/VG you want like 70/30 with 12mg nicotine. If you add PG or VG to the 12mg PG nicotine you will reduce the amount of nicotine substantially. If you do order 70/30 at 12mg all you will need to do is add the flavors. Adding them will effect the ration of PG/VG and nicotine content but not very significantly.

Just my opinion, worth what you're paying for it. Your results and mileage may vary. No warranty or guaranty is expressed or implied. Proceed at your own risk.

Generally speaking PG, polyglycol, produce the throat hit and some vapor. VG, vegetable glycerin, produce more vapor than PG. In terms of mixes the first number is the percentage of PG and the second number is the percentage of VG. I mix at 60/40 now, but have vaped at anything up to 90/10, it all depends on the specific flavors in the liquid. VG has a higher viscosity than PG so liquids with higher VG percentages are relatively thicker.

As far as steeping is concerned, there are benefits to letting liquids sit after mixing. Exactly what occurs is something I have no idea of. I recently bought a tobacco flavor from a vendor and was very disappointed in it. I let t steep for almost two months now and it is much, much better. I only mix tobacco flavors for myself and rarely do I need to steep them, so once again, steeping depends on the flavors involved and your own, personal, preferences.

I tried PG/VG mixes in the past and was not a fan. But this is all new to me. Is there a mix issue with just PG? What does the VG do?

VG adds more visible vapor. It also mutes the flavor and is less harsh on the throat. Some people use all VG or all PG. But, most use a combination of the two.

If you want all PG, your plan sounds fine. Especially if you're using tobacco flavors which tend to be used in low percentages since they're stronger. They do tend to need to be steeped a good while though. Other flavors not so much.

I use 36mg/ml because it allows for more experimenting with PG/VG levels and more leeway to allow for different levels of flavoring. And, it's still a low enough concentration that it's not so scary to handle.

But, your plan sounds fine to start with. You can always experiment with stronger flavoring and VG later if you want to.

You can get the 12 mg nicotine base, but that is the most expensive way to do DIY. Get the ejuicemeup calculator and purchase at least 48 mg base, IMO.

Tobacco flavorings definitely must be steeped to taste right. 2 weeks to a month is not out of line.

Start with about 1% RY4 in small 5 ml batches.

To answer your question about 12 mg nicotine base with PG, no, use it as is, and only add flavoring.

Read all the stickies in the DIY liquid forum!

Edit: Wizard Labs is about the best place to get your nicotine base. If you decide to use the calculator and get a higher concentration of base, get a couple of syringes, and a couple of 18 ga. blunt tip needles to measure the nicotine with. I never mix nic base by counting drops.
