RDAs are really the only attys I use TC with.

430SS works really well for TC.
I have stocked up with 316L. So will be using it. I like it pretty well in power mode.
also I suspect that is what the Disguiser is set up for. It does not appear to have TCR mode.

You can use pretty much any SS TC wire in 304 or 316 mode. You just have to set the limiter by taste not numbers.

But that's only 5 (well, 7 if you pull those other two out of hibernation, but still.... ) ;)
I have 13 of them lined up next to me by my computer, all with a different flavors. Only listed the ones I am and can do TC with SS wire :)

Can't you set the TCR for 316 in those mods?

After I decided TC wasnt for me I stopped following and learning about TC. Now that I actually like it with SS wire, I am still behind the power curve on a lot of it including what TCR is and how its set up.

I've run 430SS in Ni mode, for 304SS Ti mode works well. The mod doesn't know what wire is in there.

TCR is Temperature Coefficient Ratio or how much the resistance of a particular wire changes resistance in relation to the temperature of the wire.
There are TCR tables for different wire types on Steam Engine and various places on the net.
Once you get the value close you can fine tune it a bit if you want.
The fixed TI, NI, SS TC modes in mods have a TCR value programmed in for each of the wire types.
TCR is because one size does not fit all. Different types of SS wire with different TCR values and such as that.

I do not yet use TC but do pretty much understand how it works.

Thanks did not know that will have to get some 304 SS wire a few of my mods only have TI and NI TC modes and no TCR.

That's easy. TCR is just the resistance rise Cr over ~400C temp range. The larger the number the more the wire changes resistance.

The higher the number the easier it is for the mod to track the "temp".

Each mod uses a different input method but these are the "good enough" numbers to use.

Well darn, I just spent $7 on 100ft of 316L from Amazon. Then again, I had just received an email that I was credited $61 for my share of the great class action settlement Apple entered into for price fixing on e-books. I had no idea I sued Apple, but am happy I won. And the credit is good for anything, not just e-books, so the wire was essentially free! I sill have a credit of ~$40 (bought some SS Clapton too) and I'm struggling over whether to spend it on books, or that Griffen 25 I can get on there for <$30 (a few dealers offering).
