Captain? Full stop is a punctuation mark. "." - full stop. A period. :) Not a naval order.

There I go showing my inner geek again. It's a Star Trek thing.

And it's funny, I'm a professional writer, and I have worked in publishing for 9 years, but I never have heard that term used for punctuation.

Just to clear the air, I don't go to conventions or own a Starfleet uniform or anything. Don't write fanfic either.

VapApe, Recalibrate the lateral thrusters, disable the inertial dampers and then target their sensor array with photon torpedoes!

You know waaaaay too much to be 100% ignorant. Methinks you might own or might have owned at one point a Technical Manual. Fanfic gave you away... ;-)

So here's a thought, why don't we make up a new term, right here and now, and vow to take it out into the world? ...

...

...

...

I got nothing.

And Rocketpunk, I NEVER claimed to be ignorant of Star Trek. There is nothing wrong with being a scifi fan. There is, however, a lot wrong with writing fanfic (which you seem to know about too :p ). Also, no, I don't own a tech manual, lol.

I thought it was hokey myself at first, but haven't been able to come with a better term. Have any suggestions?

Let me put it this way. I think it is the most obvious and logical term to use...

...but I'm going to feel like a dork telling somebody who's never heard of e-cigs that I'm "vaping."

^ I agree with these.

A lot of the terminology is odd, like "juice" and "vaping", but vaping beats the hell out of smoking.

My mom introduced my wife and I to fake cigs and I introduced her to vaping, that was weird, "here mom take a vape of this juice" it was really weird. Im coming to terms with the terms but still feel like im buying/vaping some type of paraphernalia and if a cop sees me im going to get questioned about it. Not that im worried about it or anything, I just get the feeling.

I don't wan't this to be taken the wrong way (I'm a vaping vaper myself) but does anyone else here think the word "vape", or any variation thereof, sounds a little... corny or something?

It reminds me of TV dramas where teenagers are doing some new fictional street drug and they have some silly "hip" slag term for it.
Vape/Vaping is just lingo, the verb form of "vapor",

"Look Ma, I can vape with both my hands tied behind my back."

... which in turn produces another noun:

"That's a pretty harsh vape, man."

... which can spin off into adjectives:

"This vaping clearo sucks."

... and adverbs:

"And they walked into the the sunset vapingly."

Also new conditions, such as the craving for an e-cig as in:

"He's got vaperitis."

... even the state or condition lacking e-cig supplies:

"I can't stand the vapelessness."

... the study thereof:

"Vaperology."

... psychological:

"Vaping envy."

... profanely:

"What the vape are you doing with my Provari?"

...

Oh yeah.

Freakin dorky as hell. Couldn't hardly utter the word to anyone in the beginning. Now what bothers meis the flippin' spell checker always flagging it!

The gaping vagina: how about new vaping den (notice I didn't say hookah bar) , we could call it

"The Vaping Gajyna"

Where we always have plenty of dripping juice

Maybe we could all get together there a find a new word like:
