The word "vape"

I've said it before but the term "vaping" always makes me think of gaping vagina... like "yeah man, I put on some Luther Vandross and she was vaping". But it's grown on me and I can't think of anything better so that's what I will say.

I will forever and ever call it smoke.

i think drawing the distinction (especially to those who dont know the difference) is CRUCIAL.
a large part of our population has no clue that what we are doing is much different and HEALTHIER than smoking, so drawing the distinction at every chance helps our cause that much more. especially seeing how the FDA is trying to take it away from us.
sure, its easier to just call it smoke but in the end, its not worth it. JMHO

I'm pretty sure the ecig community didn't come up with the word vape.....it's been used by another community for years before e cigs came along.....people in California,Washington and Colorado know what I mean.

I think you are completely right. I wish we had a term all our own so we don't get lumped in with people smoke other things.

Yes, I hate it. I've hated it since day one. And I'll always hate it.
But there is nothing better, so what are you going to do?

Let me put it this way. I think it is the most obvious and logical term to use...

...but I'm going to feel like a dork telling somebody who's never heard of e-cigs that I'm "vaping."

I know what you mean. I don't tell new people that I'm vaping,rather that I am not smoking and that this is simply water vapor. It may vary from person to person but I typically just have a conversation with them and gauge how accepting to 'new ideas' they are. (surprisingly a lot of people arn't)

I think it makes sense but my girlfriend rolls her eyes when I use the word vaping around her. She even told me not to use the term "stealth vaping" in public. I believe it will catch on as people become more aware. I used to feel the same way about the word meme but now it's common place on Facebook.

More and more people know what e-cig are. When I first came to this community I was explaining it to everyone. Now I see more and more people with PV's walking around

But then I tell them that it is really nothing more than a miniature fog machine that happens to include some nicotine.
