Hey All,
I find it interesting that no one really seems to care for the plight of us vapers, apart from well vapers and their nearest and dearest. What has been your experience? I noticed on sites like FB when I post something vape related it gets nil likes or comments, but if I put something silly or funny boom hundred likes.. weird hey? I guess its a symptom of our times
just thought it was an interesting observation.
Cheers

A possibility, vaping has become rather mainstream. As such, casually mentioning it in mixed company (among non-vapers) may be no more interesting to them than if you mentioned you smoke cigarettes. It's not new, and it's not really very controversial.

If fact, nowadays, smoking cigarettes may be considered more controversial among most folks, and rightfully so.

That's how Facebook works. Post something funny and unimportant, everybody cares. Post something important to you, nobody cares.

That's why I don't post anything about my vaping or my lifting or anything else I care about and am proud of. No one (besides my wife and family) cares enough to know it.

I'm a man, and I can change, if I have to, I guess.

If you want people in your area to care in my opinion you need to advocate for vaping. It has to start somewhere and if you want to change something it has to start somewhere so it could start with you.

This is just my personal opinion and not a social statement or a call to arms.

I see a couple of the "We get it, you vape" memes in my feed a couple of times a week. I they're funny. I would hazard to say that non-smokers just don't understand the difference. When my mother saw me vape for the first time, she told me how dangerous it was. This, of course, stems from the negative press. I tried to get my brother to switch and his response was, "Why would I switch to something worse?". The old saying is still true. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

It does not surprise me. The only way to understand vaping is vaping. So people won't care about something they ignore.

Non smoking folks don't need to understand it and it makes sense. They don't have the need to learn about it and for most of them vaping can be considered as another unhealthy habit because in a way it is, even though it's less harmful than tobacco. Don't get me wrong, I found vaping and I'm grateful I did because it gave an alternative which non smoking people does not need.

And those people at the same time are being flooded with the anti-vaping campaign news that often appears in media

Healthcare people, are often misguided by official (government) policies as they are deemed approved and therefore safe regarding profesional liabilities. I believe that true and honest doctors should endorse vaping as they have the tools to better understand it.

But don't forget that lots of non smoking people, doctors and government officers are also health-freaks that will only approve a conduct that is 100% safe and healthy (few things in life are) so, even though vaping is much safer than tobacco it cannot be approved by them because it is unhealthy. Bye bye empathy!!!

Try "Trump vapes, Hillary dosen't". That will get some attention I'm sure.

You do realize that doctors, general practitioners especially, keep up with their profession primarily through reading medical journals plus various missives sent them by the pharma industry by way of advertising their drug products. Unless your doctor has some special interest in vaping you more than likely know a lot more about it than they do.

It's facebook, only reason why I have a facebook is for friends that I no longer work with. Imo facebook creates too much drama and controversy, Especially for vaping because every time a mod blows up that person puts it on facebook and then the media sees it and airs it.

I have never had a FB account.

I use email and a phone to stay in touch.
No middle man needed.
No need to air every conversation to the world, or help FB build an online profile.

Come to think of it, I didnt like "party lines" either.

The worst is group text. I've been woke up twice at three AM because somebody had to add me to group text. If it's an emergency I get it, but not for some discussion of a christian movie that I didn't see and have no interest in seeing.

Smoke_too_much,

I do realize it! But I was referring to honest doctors (and I may add "true" doctors) understanding such term as those doctors (physicians) that really care about their patients and have a real healing vocation. Those are a few.

I'm aware I will be burned in the stake just for making these statements: My very personal opinion regarding medicine is that it is more of an art than mere science. Of course scientific knowledge is necessary but I believe a doctor has to be a real healer using all the tools available to cure the ill, including BUT not limited to scientific knowledge. I see most of today doctors just as technicians applying formulas and rules they find in books and journals but without understanding that we humans are more than flesh and a product of chemical and biological reactions.

That is a very wise way of looking at the profession, and it is something I have always felt with the medical profession, black and white according to the info they have from their textbooks, which is great for somethings but not everything,
and another major point I have always felt that alot of them they just do not give a crap and are in it only for the MONEY.

Naw, doctors are just like real people. Sure, some of them are only in it for the money. But, I can't easily come up with another profession where you couldn't make the same statement. I've probably had more caring doctors than I have had the indifferent sort.

There's a whole lot of math & science under their belts, more than most people could handle. And I think that awareness gives some of them an attitude. My Ex-wife was a nurse and could tell some stories about that kind.

But my biggest concern with doctors is that it's difficult to know the good ones from the marginal ones. Meaning, some graduated with a 4.0 GPA, and others nearly flunked. But, most of us are practically throwing darts trying to figure out which one to go to ... assuming our insurance even lets us make our own choice.

Yep, doctors are people. Good & Bad.
