So Vapordna sells me bunk TI wire. Only got me for 10' but wanted to try TC. Hope my ipv4s is not bunk. I will scroll back and find the right TI wire to buy. Onto my ni200 builds. I have 26g ni200 from Lightning Vapes. I assume it's not bunk[emoji58]

I've had nothing but bunk from Lighting Vapes. Amazon and Ebay have proven time and time again to be unreliable sources for vaping wire. Just sayn'. UNKAMEN is a good source for Ti but with the recent developments with nife, hard to tell if their rep will hold.

Thanks cig...I am scouring the interweebs for a source. Ukamen it is most likely. What's the bad PR on nife now? So my 25' of nickel blows too....oh well.

Gawd, you would think as important as tcr and res is vendors would provide something more reliable? I am thoroughly discouraged. I can count on my Ti though...always consistent.

The deal with the nife peeps have been getting from from the US is inconsistent tcr and res. It's acting more like ss than nife.

So ordered wire from unkamen however u spell it. Ti, nife and ss I think 317L...whatever. here is a nickel build in the interim. Lightly pretorched it...very little glow. Mounted, set resistance, wicked and vaped....no clue if I will get a dry coil message...good vape.

Stopped vaping...took top cap off, check coil, gently fixed wicks now low resistance message.....no vape...lol...frustrating...
Tweaked the coil, raised it, now back to .o7 and vaping.....the dry coil feature is not happening.....wonder what I am doing wrong or if I am even in temp mode. Owe red the joules to 34.4. Temp still set at 450...

I though Ni200 had to be spaced or it shorts?
Is that a 22g 18/17 wrap on 3mm?
It is...I've read over and over its like Wheaties or Frosted Flakes...spaced or compressed.
But you are prolly right. I'm prolly not in temp mode lol...only way to find out is see if I can incinerate the wick at some point lol...vaping well in whatever mode I'm in...joules mode...

Just got my ipv4s and some .6mm TI wire from sweet spot vapors. I wrapped duals with a 3mmID, 8/7 and it ohmd out at .23 initially. I set it at 400F which came in at 39.9J. The vape is really good from a Mantav2. After awhile the vapor production increased and is on par with my regular K1, 22 or 24g builds. I think flavor overall is better than K1 in a Tugboat, Derringer or Aeolus. The thing that is freaking me out a little bit is I have not gotten a dry hit message. I can feel that a dry hit is coming...that the wicks are becoming dry but no dry hit message and the mod continues to fire. Here is a pic of my screen. Will the mod fire in Joules mode without actually being in TC mode? I did set the resistance baseline with a cold mod and atty. The 2nd time I did it the resistance jumped up to .3. The vape is still steller.

I'm curious what you mean by it came in at 39.9J. Does it automagically set itself?

Nope...my bad. Just wearing the dunce Cap brah. I can adjust joules from main screen. I know one joule equals one watt. What's the relationship to temperature lol? I think I know. Are you guys having fun with me or what.
Okay, so slapped in this spaced bad boy on a 3mm id. No dry firing, nothing. Set the resistance , wicked, juiced, fired great...put the top cap on and..........SHORT....lol...shorted to the top cap. The Manta is so tight. Fiddled with the pancaked left side of the coil until the lead SNAPPED...lol. here's a pic of that beauty.

So recoiled on a 2.5mm ID and all good. Same process. Came in at .07 and vaping great. Still no clue if dry wick message will appear. Here is a pic of the 2.5mm version.

Great flavor. Set at 34.2joules and 450 degrees. Any suggestions on temp and joules settings would be appreciated.
TC definitely kicked in. As the juice is absorbed, I feel the mod is decreasing power...pretty cool. Okay, I'm tripping on 3mg nic right now...need a lil break....Lil bit...

I bought some of SSv Ti wire .04mm (not the Ti-X) before i heard the news it was grade 2 ...i used it in my velocity clone in Ti mode on ipv4s and i thought it vaped just fine although just a little cooler than i liked even at 600f.

***572 F(max) not 600F, was thinking about a different mod

Very cool. I'm going to wrap some spaced coils tonite with it in ti mode and see if I can get my ipv4s to respond to it. The nickel will tide me over until my unkamen order shows up. Really enjoying this nickel build now. Consistent as heck. Love he ramp down as the wick dries out. Pretty cool. The flavor from the ni200 is really good...different than K1 for sure. I need to try diff juices on it. So far only Milkman and The OB....I want to get some tobacco joose on it...RY4S n such...Tribeca....maybe crack out the big dark green bottle[emoji33]

Yeah OK, we might've had a little fun at your expense @WharfRat1976 but one thing for sure, no one can preach to you about coil symmetry. That is a spectacular looking coil bro!!

Ha Cig! Thanks for getting me going on this thread as well. I do take pride in building perfect coils lol. What's your take on the relationship between joules and temp settings?

& my Crazy Wire Ti is slightly springy, not as much as Zivipf but its perfectly clean
I like CW myself. From what I can gather it is between 26 and 27 also from what I can get from the res of my coils. Not as high as 27 but not as low as 26 but I still like it best so far.

My coils don't look like that. Must have something to do with the way my hands work. Or don't work whatever. That looks like something done by machine.

as great as it sounds and as good as the technology is right now, and what it promises to do I still use kanthal wire myself. I figure that i stay with the basic until more studies have been conducted on all these new wires that are coming out in the market. Kanthal was not meant for vaping, but it has become the standard and the closest thing to being safe for vaping. The more we experiment with other wires, the more things come out with out any real hard facts about safety. I have tried alot of wire out there but i always go back to kanthal. But if you are ok with using different types of wires, so be it:)

Ha Cig! Thanks for getting me going on this thread as well. I do take pride in building perfect coils lol. What's your take on the relationship between joules and temp settings?

Now that's a good question and one that has many offerings. Some folks like to run the power setting watts/joules just below the point of temp protect, others, myself included, like to force the mod into tp immediately and rely on the mod to regulate power down to hold temp. Much of that has to do with the mods' ability to reduce power while temp protecting without making noise (rattlesnaking) or becoming pulsey (noticeable power cycling). My Evic does a great job of quietly regulating power with no noticeable changes. Ymmv

So try to set your joules way too high and see how your mod performs. If it rattlesnakes keep turning the joules diwn until it stops.

The Temp setting is a matter if personal preference. What's too hot for one is not for another soooo.
