I don't know why it took me so long to try twisted 26g Ti. Loaded up my velocity clone with twisted dual 26g coils earlier, and I'm impressed. Going to have to order some 24g Ti, I can't believe I forgot to put some in my cart when I just ordered some SS430 last night.

    @cigatron,
Did a spaced 6 wrap 26g on 3mm rod (don't have 24g yet) KGD in Subtank Mini. Ohms out perfectly at .30. It's annealed by me. Ti from Unaken. All connections are tight. Lots of vapor on ipv D2, at 25j @ 475 degrees. BUT MUTED FLAVOR.

Same juice, in another Subtank with stock prebuilt .5 ohm Kanthal coil, LOTS OF FLAVOR.

Is there TOO much cotton in a 3mm ID coil? All I can think of!

Have you ever gotten STM RBA's with a coil pre-installed? Mine came with little 2.0-2.5mm coils - I kept wondering WTF?

Then when I was having issues with my 3-3.5mm builds I decided to try going 'small'. Made a world of difference. Then again, getting enough ohms for the small coils and decent TC is then the challenge. Lucky I have 32AWG Ti and Ni to play with. :)

Try this place Rio-Grande Ti Grade 1, 50' $10 dollars, Acid washed and annealed.

I use this and you will love the annealed aspect of this stuff. I have cleaned it with alcohol, acetone, soap and water and the paper towel never shows any signs of dirt/gunk.

Well I think I'm going to build the last 2 of my STM's was trying to decide between Crazy Wire and Unkamen and I think Unkamen is the choice. If amount of juice used is not a problem the Unk is a better all around vape flavorwise and vapewise but it really eats the juice.

Let us know after you try it, and your setup, and your opinion of FLAVOR!
    Thanks.

Titanium Gr.1 after light dryburn, washing, ultrasonic cleanup and brushing. Does it look ok?

Well what seems to be is the Unk has a better taste and vape when it is new but on the ones I cleaned and put back in service the CW tastes better. I don't know why that is but the CW tastes just like new the Unk has a different flavor its stronger and not as good. So given everything that I have learned from using the 2 wires with the same build same atty and mod the CW uses less juice tastes just as good after cleaning easier to work with. Doesn't put out as much vapor at first but that could be my fault by not turning it up enough. So I'm kind of leaning towards the CW all things considered.

Like Steve you're talking about Sweet Spot Vapour, NOT Sweet Vapes :) TA1 Titanium Wire 30ft

I shouldn't have edited my reply out to him quoting the link, but I didn't want to leave his original post in the quote to add to confusion - obviously had the opposite effect :)

Sweet Vapes is just reselling standard Chinese Grade 1 Titanium, the identical spools that I got from 3FVape and ThunderDan has now received from Sweet Vapes.

Any more feedback from those using Ti wire from "SweetVapes.com", NOT "sweet-spot"?
I live in US, and have bought some Ti wire already from Unkamen, but I occasionally buy products from SweetVape, so it would be convenient. Then again, if the Unkamen wire is made in the U.S., and the SweetVape is made in China, I may pass.

I must admit, I am amzed that people seem to find such large differences in taste etc between wires from different suppliers that are, in the end, identical or pretty much near it in chemical composition. I have wire from Unkamen, crazy wire, stealth vape, zivipf and probably some others and i really dont see any major difference for the same build with the same guage wire from different sources...

Well I've come to the conclusion that Ti is not for me. I've tried it in my tanks and my drippers. Tanks was a bust immediately. It was ok in the RDA's but I wasn't getting the full flavor that I was accustomed to so I built a single nickel cool and BAM. Full flavor again great vape. I can live with my single coils and nickel just works better for me. Could be the fact that I don't own a true Ti device. That might make a difference but I'm gonna stay with nickel for now.

I'm not giving up yet, as I believe Ti may be a healthier choice of materials. But the distinct lack of flavor compared to my Kanthal builds is a mystery I have yet to solve. I wrote about it here just recently. I have two co-workers with better taste buds then me, and had them try both and they agreed. I'm going to try different amounts of KGD cotton wicking as I experiment more.

The details on my setup are here if interested:

Well I would like to revise this statement. I think both wires are very good. After vaping the cleaned Unk the flavor has started to come back to the way it was originally so I don't think you could go wrong with either wire. They both work very well new or cleaned so its just a matter of personal preference. I actually don't know which is better I will continue using both. I now have more built with the Unk and there are things I like about it and with CW so as with all things vaping I have a hard time making up my mind but I really like Ti wire. I wouldn't pay $1 a foot for it though but I am using more Unk then CW. So it's up to you by the time I decide there will be even a better wire out there.

I matched the settings Cigatron suggested and it was only slightly better, but hotter, and I prefer a cooler vape. I just don't get it, since the Titanium does not impart any flavor of its own, then one must suspect the cotton, and how much or little is used, but if that's not the case, then the design of the Subtank itself may come into question. But not everyone uses a STM. I keep reading about the great flavor folks are getting with the Titanium & STM, but I'm doing a direct comparison with identical tanks and juice, the only two differences are the Titanium/Kanthal coils and power mode versus TC mode. Sure is a MYSTERY to me. I want to love Ti, as I'm sold on its better potential health qualities over alloys. I guess my next test will be a nickel build, but I don't like its metal composition, though I'm not allergic.

I don't have or think Kanger has a pre-made titanium coil to compare to, but I did get good flavor with a Joytech Delta 2 titanium pre-built coil in the Eciggity/EHPro Morph tank I have, just adds to my confusion!
You could give Pima cotton a try. Since I started using it I found what I was looking for in the taste of a vape and great wicking.

    I wonder....

I've never dealt with Kanthal before so coming from Ni to Ti I found the stuff to be to "springy" and hard to work with. I sometimes resort to winding on screws and getting the torch out to heat the coil to keep the wound shape I gave it.

With Ni200 we needed ether large ID and/or lots and lots of windings with 28-32awg to get enough minimum resistance. Switching to Ti I started using 28-24awg with much less windings.

One day I was aimlessly winding Ti on a screw and came up with a 1.0ohm coil. It works fine on both my YiHi chipped mods. I have a few builds in the 0.6 to 1.0 ohm range. All 8-12 windings of Ti.

My current theory is that not only does equal windings of Ti/Ni create the same surface area for vaporization but the higher resistance of Ti allows your mod to regulate a more accurate vape.

Outside of thinking Ti is still a PITA to work with, I'm finally happy with the builds I've recently done.

    YMMV.
