What scares me even more is they refuse to listen to sound advice when we try and fill in the gaps in thier knowledge and teach them the safety.
I wouldn't say that... I listened back when I was new and wanted to experience what it was like to blow big clouds. I listened, and studied, and learned. And now I try to share what I learned.
There's no real secret to it - it's no different than having kids. Kids want to do impulsive, stupid things - you have to school them or they'll never learn how to temper their impulses, delay gratification, plan ahead, etc.
Just get in there and keep posting thorough, easy to understand instructions. Post them every time anyone expresses an interest in sub ohming. Tweet them, Facebook them, and YouTube them! Don't make sub ohming a big taboo secret. Get it out there - the right way. Sure there will be a few who won't listen, but if you offer the information repeatedly, make it fun and interesting, and do it with kindness, my guess is most will catch on. No one wants to blow their hand off.
Even if you run into someone who seems to be resisting, you can at least get them to buy some Sony 30 amps by linking them to a good sale. It won't solve the whole problem, but it will help.
