If an individual is in a scenario where they must physically defend themselves or suffer physical harm, defense is certainly justified ..
A yelling match does not fit that scenario .. being spotted using a PV in a non-smoking area and being reminded it is, in fact, a non-smoking zone is a fairly common occurance these days .. and will get more common as more folks make the switch to an e-cig ..
We as the early wave of users must deal with that in the most constructive way possible in order to further our cause ..
Many on ECF like to toss out sayings .. here's one for you .. "One bad apple spoils the whole bunch" ..

Myself, I abide by the same rules as the analog smoker .. I abided by them before, I abide by them now .. because, if your blowing what looks like smoke, people think you're smoking ..
It's as simple as that ..
I want to thank WarHawk for sharing that personal story; I think it paints a picture that puts things in a broader perspective (which is good!). And no, I wasn't directing my comment at you! you
There's a time and place for violence, but I think most (if not all) will agree that initiating a fight in an argument about e-cigs, is over the top, regardless of the venue.
And your construction project would of went way over budget because you'd of had no Iron workers and when you explained to the city counsel why you wasted millions of dollar's because you did nit want people to smoke fake cigarettes on your job Id see you the next day at the unemployment office with me.
Rules need to be reasonable and have merit. To many people follow and enforce rules when they know they serve no good reason its to bad so many are quick to do so.
Buzz; I'd have fired you, not for holding to your opinion that vaping is OK, but for disregarding the rules. It's unfortunate that there wasn't a way to compromise with this employer; would they have accepted a cig-a-like?
For you maybe. I chose not to let my vaping be lumped in with smoking. We dont need rules just because its that simple.....

**cough** nothing wrong **cough**If you are treating it the same as smoking they will treat it as so.
If I am outside in a non smoking area, with a respectful distance from others guess what I'm doing?

I have said in many, many threads that I hope each and every day that PV use will become socially acceptable .. however, I also know that only 20% of the USA population smokes analogs .. so, the majority of the population are non-smokers and have been conditioned repeatedly over many years to view the analog smoker as the addicted, health killing, slow suicide nitwit who just keeps at it and subjects others to their own nasty habit ..
In my opinion .. if we as e-cig users try to ignore the analog rules until definitive information has been accepted by the 80% that don't smoke, then we are simply asking the ANTZ to put out propaganda that will hurt our cause, not help it ..
While I would like to see open public e-cig use and acceptance, there is also the question of where the line should be drawn .. ?? Hitting a Provari while your child is being delivered may be a bit over the line, you think .. ?? Or not .. ??
I fully understand that .. however, in my case, I am not so much in need of a puff that I must do it whenever and where ever ..
I agree with you mostly Im not even saying punching someone is right but Im also not above doing it. I will not vape at a restaurant. I will vape in a store in a deserted isle if Im so inclined.
If Im vaping outside and someone lets me know it is bothering them I will move. Its fairly easy to get along Ive had very few bad encounters.
But Im sorry If I were in a deserted parking lot and some guy starts yelling and ranting at me getting in my face he might walk away with a fat lip.
If we let our selves be herded in with smoking it will be very hard to change that. I say nip it in the bud before it becomes a lost cause. I have news for you ANTZ will do what they do no matter what we do. They've all ready proven this to over and over.
Who said anything about whenever and where ever? I'm referring being out side in public, respectfully stepping away from others. I won't be going to a designated smoking area.
I'm posting about myself here, obviously not you ..
Backing a debate with logic rather than emotion has always been proven to be the most effective ..
By your own admission now, you prefer not to be seen using the PV in a public place .. what makes stealth use any different than no use at all in non-smoking areas .. ?? If you truly want to "nip it in the bud" why not just do it everywhere .. ??
And it would be quite rare these days that a parking lot would not be under surveillance camera ..
Its all ready happening if you haven't noticedUsing a Heinlein quote that came out of a novel, "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" ..
Heinlein, a definite Libertarian, grounded his philosophy in the concept of self-responsible individuals .. which is exactly my point .. we need to be self-responsible individuals when it comes to public PV Use .. otherwise, we will have the rules written for us and they will not be to our liking ..
