Well even if we don't necessarily agree - I appreciate your willingness to have a conversation about it.

I'll leave it at that. :)

It get's lonely up here.. it's nice to have somebody to chat with.

I'll leave it at that. :)

Have a nice one!

To the topic-

I don't understand why someone who doesn't like what you like or disagrees is considered a troll.

If I'm purchasing something, I want to hear the good and bad. If there's a negative feature, I want to know what to look out for. If I just wanted to read glowing reviews, I'd go to the manuf. site.

Another point to mention, sometimes getting a different viewpoint adds to discussions. Maybe even open ones eyes to what is actually going on in the world of regulations.

I consider a person a Troll nuisance poster if they consistently look for attention. Just don't give them the attention. ;)

This is all kid stuff compared to some of the Harley/anti-Harley and Ducati/anti-Ducati threads on the motorcycle boards.

I almost got into a bar fight one night over that kind of ridiculousness. I happen to like old metric bikes, not that they're superior, I just happen to like working on them & riding them. I appreciate all kinds of other bikes too & just like vape gear or anything else in life, I'm not bothered by the choices someone else makes. Well, this guy happened to be a Harley fan & even though we talked for 20 minutes about bikes in general, he wanted to fight after he found out that I rode a Honda. I finally had to walk down to the next bar because he was just getting more and more aggressive about it... and he followed me down there. :?: It's the same on all forums, but I agree, some of those bike 'wars' get absolutely crazy.

Yes, there's a lot of trolling, but I've also seen a fair bit of oversensitivity where almost anything is interpreted as trolling. I recently responded with a harmless joke on a post in the Provari forum, and man was my head bitten of (it wasn't that bad, I'm exaggerating). It was nothing against Provaris, and I can't see how it could jagged l have been interpreted as such, but nonetheless it was. I've also seen a lot of hostile and rude responses to questions such as "why get a provari (aw batteries, a original mech mod instead of a clone, etc). In many cases these are actually honest questions, and the initial assumption should be just that (that's the best way to kill a troll btw, give a sober and informative answer). Not everyone here is a native speaker, and not all native speakers have a good grasp of the language. Let's not be so sensitive that we automatically assume that someone is criticising our darlings.

I understand the difference - I've been doing the forum thing for almost 20 years. ;)

In fact, that's kind of the point. I would prefer "Because I said so" over "If you're an adult, you should be ok with being censored based on other people's 'potential' sensitivities"

I could have easily found that offensive. Am I going to report it? No.

It's important to understand the rules you are expected to follow.

if you have been on forums that long I am surprised you don't know they are not a democracy. I get weary of people complaining about the moderation. and it seems most people don't really read the rules. there are ecig forums out there that are lightly moderated or not moderated at all. those can always be enjoyed by people who don't want to be moderated!

Yes, exactly!

I really wish people wouldn't do this. When I think of all the time and money I wasted in my first months of vaping because all the reviews for some item were over-the-top great, only to find that The Coolest Tank of All Time leaked like a sieve, or the World's Yummiest Juice tasted like car wax, I really have to wonder why so few people dare to buck the trend on this.

If somebody asks for an honest opinion before spending his hard earned money on something, I hardly think we're doing him any favors by calling those who are contributing useful information "trolls" just because their experiences were less than stellar. It really ruins the whole point of comparing opinions.

(Having said all that, I must say that I find the ProVari threads outright hilarious. I hope they never, ever stop.)

I don't recall complaining about the moderation. I get weary of people making up meaning in my words - you quote me saying that I understood, then based your reply on the assumption that I don't understand. Did you reply to this before you finished reading the thread? (bad form) Because I felt like it was a micro-conversation that had run its course to completion. Why did you feel the need to bring it back up? Are you collecting 'likes'? Feels a bit cantankerous and pot stirring, which I am sure is against the rules. Can I complain about that and have your post deleted?

FWIW - there are about a billion rules and a billion threads on a billion forums. It may be 'old hat' to such an esteemed veteran as yourself, but it is quite daunting to search through...which is why I just came right out and asked what rules were being broken. I can't help if you read past that, or decided for yourself that I asked in an a less than genuine fashion.

I just put the first and only person on my ignore list today ... someone who continually posts to have the last word.

He will even post 5 times in a row ... getting the last word on everybody he disagrees with, one by one.

Ignored... ;)

I think what you were originally talking about was not the moderation, but the people who have a feelings calendar. If so, I'd agree. Everyone (speaking of the world, not forums or ECF) these days feels we need to walk on eggshells as to not hurt the feelings of someone else, even if it means being dishonest. You can't have a legit concern because you're then racist, sexist, ageist or mod-ist (like that one?). But it's become such the norm & so widespread that forums (in general) also either have to, or feel they have to, conform. At the end of the day private property is private property, whether it's some acreage, a building or a corner of the internet. House rules. Some trolls even take advantage of that fact. Perhaps even most.

hmmm, sure looked to me like you were complaining about the moderation here but whatever....<shrug>

I don't have "bad form" thanks anyway. I do read threads in their entirety before I respond. and if for some reason I don't I state that fact in my post.

I don't "collect" likes. and please, feel free to report my post. if the moderators think it should be deleted they will do that.

as to the rest...well, meh... my history here can speak for itself :vapor:

We'll never know. I've never reported a post in my life.

I don't know what a 'feelings calendar' is, but I think you caught the spirit of my communication. :)

I do feel compelled to state (again?) that I never once suggested that this forum and its management couldn't or shouldn't be able to do whatever the hell they please at any given time.

I expressed confusion at the thin blurry lines and a little resentment at being censored because of them.
