I have 2 Goblins in the cart, both colors with extensions. Should I do it? I love my Merlins but...

I have 2 x Goblin RBA by UD (4.2mL Updated Version) and 2 x Goblin Mini RTA - Stainless I just remembered I had in the stash from my panic buying this past summer that I have not even tried yet.... and a bunch of other tanks of course. Time to start playing with some new tanks I think, after I get the rest of my atty stand cleaned out of tanks that I haven't used in ages.

I have more tanks than I will likely ever need/use and yet my shopping list of tanks I want is a mile long so I say go for it lolol

You defintily should do it, I also love my merlin, but the Goblin v3 is also a great atty, it has become my favorite (but Merlin and Bellus are close)........on GB and FT (in 2 days) they are less than $20, it's a steal!

Sadly, I would say no based on my experience. But, if you are looking at a good Christmas sale price, and really want to try one out, go for it.

I haven't touched my Goblin Minis for awhile now ever since I got my Merlins - even though I still don't have them running consistenly they way I want for MTL use.

I had to put a piece of rolled up SS mesh in the air hole on both my Merlins to get a good restricted vape. It works great. I ordered both colors of the Goblins with extensions. I have to try them...

i had leak problems too... but the flavor, the draw are perfect for me

Yes, agreed, but the leak problems were just too unacceptable. I don't need to be playing with such a finicky tank when there are other, friendlier options.

Even the Serpent Mini has leaked less on me, but performed just as well otherwise. I don't use those much anymore either, just because they still tended to seep juice a bit too much - and I can really do without the unexpected juice stains.

That's a good idea. I was thinking about maybe drilling out the airflow restriction insert a bit to open the airflow up just a little more. I think it's too tight as is. I guess I've just been vaping long enough I don't really need a super tight draw anymore.

Every rda/rta/rdta in my rotation right now (and all the ones most recently used I am washing and stashing) are wide open except one, and that one I only close slightly: the Limitless Combo RDTA. Many of the ones I am washing and stashing I found too restrictive in the airflow department.

I finally received two Augvape Merlin RTAs I ordered a few weeks ago from FT. I tried doing a 1.4 ohm, 10 wrap, 4mm inner diameter, single 28 gauge SS 316L build that ended up reading 1.15 ohms. Not too big a deal as I just wanted to tryout TC for the first time on my iStick Pico.

I noticed neither tank sits entirely flush on my iStick Pico (less than half a millimeter gap), but then noticed apparently none of my other tanks did either, so I stopped being concerned with that. I used the installed (but removable) deck airflow hole restriction screw, which reduces the bell chamber's air hole size to about a 2.5mm diameter, then also switched out the wide bore drip tip for one of my preferred narrow bore MTL ones.

These tanks appear to be well machined, but they are an average height 510 drip tip taller than a Goblin Mini V3 because they hold 4ml of juice. I like the extra juice capacity, but I'd prefer a shorter setup. The Merlin is a 23mm outer diameter tank - that just (barely) fits on my iStick Pico without any rubbing, or other fit and function issues.

The Augvape Merlin's velocity deck is pretty easy to work on, just like the GM V3. The design of the wick chambers (cups?) and juice flow holes makes these tanks easier to wick in comparison to the GM V3 or Serpent Mini. I did not trim my rayon wick quite as much as I have on previous builds. This has worked out well. I have topped off one of the tanks a few times now without any seepage or leakage issues thus far, but I have only been playing with the tank one day.

Now I'm just trying to figure out good TC settings for this mouth-to-lung setup. It seemed to run just a little hot and harsh at first (using 3mg nicotine level juice), so I dropped the temp down to around 400F at around 12W. That seemed to work okay, though the taste I'm getting seems a little weird regardless. Is a break-in period required to improve the taste? A 4mm inner diameter coil is pretty big. I may need to use more rayon, as I could be tasting the SS coil too much?

I'll try getting closer to a 1.4 ohm build next time. With TC I'm not sure resistance matters all that much, but I still want this to be a fairly low power using setup. I also want to try my hand at rebuilding my GM V3 and Serpent Mini RTAs - as I don't think I used long enough, or thick enough, wick in those. Maybe there is still a chance I can get some use out of them. I am hoping so. In the meantime I am pleased with my results thus far with the Augvape Merlin. I'd like to try a 30 gauge double twisted SS 316L build on this too, but am having a hard time finding it online. Anyone know who would have that? Such an animal does exist, right?

This is a pic of my current Merlin build. The wire wrap and spacing is far from perfect, but it works. I apologize for the lack of clarity. Photo taken with an iPhone 5.View attachment 614607

Perfect MTL for me so far. Going to keep it a single coil and in short size for now. I am using the spit-back thingy that was not installed. It was in the bag of extra goodies. I just filled the black one and forgot to use a syringe to see exactly how much liquid it can hold. I filled it as high as I could and there was no air bubble to be seen. I have to see the exact amount it can hold next fill.

Started off with a simple 30g SS coil at 3mm diameter 7 wraps spaced with Japenese Cotton. Have to try 28g next.

Waiting for my swivels to come so I can make my Fused Claptons.
