Thank you all for ur advice, Obviously the size is out of the window, battery life is much more important to me. Thank you for clearly pointing that out, lol. Obviously wont get the "draw" of a analogue. Fair enough.

Another question then, Is the battery life of say 4-5 hrs continuous use or time from removal from charger to depletion?

You are most welcome. We have all been there and know what you are going through. The truth will serve you best.

When most of us say 4-5 hours, we mean for vaping from the time a new cart or carto is screwed on a fully charged battery till it needs to be recharged with intermittent vaping through that period. I vape heavy and a battery that would last most 2 hours might last me half an hour. I started with the standard 510 and it lasted me less than 20 minutes, but many folks said it would go longer than an hour. So I use a HUGE battery and with a 510 atty and cart now and the battery lasts someone like me more than a day. (Comparison in energy density, the standard 510 battery is 180 mAh while the battery I use now is 2400 mAh.)

I think Rosa is on the right track, an 808 seems like a better fit for your first PV.

I started with an 808 and still like it. Mine is automatic but that doesn't bother me (probably because I don't know any better) It's similar (a bit bigger) to a regular cigarette and from a distance could pass for one, but battery life is an issue. I thought I would use it every 90 min- 2hours..nope..I vape all day now, so I'm getting an ego tank, and if that doesn't work I might have someone modify a scuba tank for me to wear around the house (just kidding, really). I quit analogs almost right away and have no desire for them, but I do have anxiety attacks on long drives wondering if my 808 batteries will hold out lol (actually my car has a USB outlet so I keep one in that, but I still worry). Pre-filled cartomizers are ok to start with but they really don't last at all, so if you get some- keep them and get some e-liquid and refill them yourself it's way cheaper than continuing to buy pre-filled ones.

yes Vapor4Life is a KR808D-1

I don't know if EVO is KR808D-1, or -2 (incompatible) or E8 (really incompatible)

They have a variety of carto sample packs (5 flavors) for trying flavors. I like the WOW tobacco sampler.

And get some juice there or elsewhere - you can top off or refill those cartos - I have been using one for 5 days and if it starts tasting bad I plan to try washing it.

BTW - don't run cartos all the way to dry or you risk singeing the stuffing inside and that will ruin the flavor

Do you have an idea of what nicotine should be good for you?

In general with many exceptions
full strength smoker->24mg, light smoker->16-18mg, ultralights smoker 10-12mg
And it's a good idea to get some lower and some higher
If you smoke heavily, smoke 100's all the way, etc or just tough to get off cigs, you may need higher
If you vape a lot more than you smoked, you may need lower

Tink really likes her DSE901 and has talked me into trying one next time I'm hardware shopping.

There are plenty of places to get both like... THE EASY MAX STARTER KIT- KR808D-1 Note, I have NOT done business with these folks and cannot recommend them from personal experience. There is a review section of this forum for checking out suppliers and I recommend using it for the vendors you are considering.

If you get the KR808D-1 you'll have to worry about the batteries recharging all the time -- but it's relatively smaller. If you go this way you'll want a Personal Charging Case.

If you get the eGo T, you won't have to worry about the batteries but you'll have to deal with e-liquid. Instead of re-filling and screwing on cartomizers, you'll have to fill a tiny tank of e-liquid and put it on. The battery is wider (not really longer though) but it lasts about 6 hours. Or if you get the 1000 mah batteries it'll last a day and a half but then it'll be much longer too.

So, the question is..... how much bigger are you willing to go to get awesome battery life?

Once again, nobody recommends the DSE 901 (stomping foot!) Good flavor, good battery life with a V4L extra long manual, great vapor, very reasonable prices (Totally Wicked has regular auto kits for under $30.) Check this out:
YouTube - In Defense of the DSE901 002

Not to confuse OP more...But 808 and 901 battery and atties/cartomisers are interchangable. Not same manufacturer, but both work well, so you can buy either, and use both setups. All are readily available. :p

As long as you have 2- 280 mah batteries, a charger, and some cartos..Youll be fine. 808 is a great auto. You can start, use for a few days, and your still well within budget to order more stuff. I would do evo if it were me. I like the cost, and dont care about a carry case. Then you can grab a manual battery or two..some liquids..just grow from there. Keep it simple to start. You'll know what you like best once you have something simple IN HAND...and 280 mah will last a 2 pack a day smoker 4 hours before it needs charged. Takes 3 hours to charge...itll be fine for you.

WOW! Ok. LOL wot fun.

Ok I assume a pass thru charger means u can use it while its charging??

I think I'm looking at an 808 with a charging case not a carry case. at least two batteries, a wall, car and usb charger, wow cartomizers, and as i understand it some juice so i assume I will need a drip tip. Do i need more than 1 tip?

and thanks for the video dee5

with that kit you don't need a drip tip. Just the kit (two batts, charger, cartomizers), the pcc, and some juice to re-fill your used up cartomizers with.

I like the drip tips because I add juice to my cartos and it pops off easier than the caps that come on them. Its not needed just makes it easier to pop off.

Heck, what are they.. a couple of dollars? Why not add that too. :)

(It's so easy to add stuff to other people's carts... LOL:) )

The battery life is 280mah. Here's how it was described that made sanse to me:

for each 100 mah, you get roughly an hour... so 180 mah (like a standard 510) is about 2 hours... 280 mah (like a standard kr808d1 is about 3 hours)

If you get the XL kr808d1 batteries then they are 380 mah, or roughly 4 hours.

eGo (what I have) is 650 mah, about 6 1/2 hours. eGo also makes a 1000 mah battery -- 10 hours.

... of course all this depends on your usage too, my 510 (180mah) only lasted me about 45 minutes to an hour.

as for "strength", do you mean like the strength of the flavor? That would be a juice thing.

There's also volts. I don't know much about volts, but I think it has something to do with how warm the vapor becomes with higher voltage. Also, they say some flavors taste better with a higher voltage too, that's why the senior members are always saying "buy a variable voltage mod!" because then you can adjust the voltage to suit whichever juice you are vaping.

I think that the kr808d1 and the eGo/510 systems are both 3.7volt PV's -- not sure, but I think so.
