I've definitely decided to get the husband to drill out an airhole larger for me. I'm not sure exactly what size but DEFINITELY larger than what I have. LOL, after my mom leaves (that should be in my sig by now).

I still like the berserker and I sure hope opening up an airhole won't impact the flavor too much but it's just way too tight a draw for me.

The doggy is fairly restricted, but for some reason (oh equipment and its foibles) well, it works fine and it's pretty restricted. Less so than the doggy but still... :)

Anna

Beserker is a single air hole rta. Siren 2 and Ares both have a long slot that allows uncovering all holes at once. That would be a good option for the Beserker.

But that would make it impossible to use just 1 of the 5 holes, except for the smallest one or the largest one, wouldn't it? The Berserker would be just another Siren 2 or Ares, as far as airflow options then.

There are many of us who love the Berserker precisely because we're able to use any 1 of the 5 holes that works best for us.

The ones that have the slot also have a single hole on the ring. That lets you choose an end hole or expose any number of holes using the slot side. Just rotate the ring to expose a single hole at a time on one part of the ring or spin the ring 90 degrees to put the slot over the holes. Move it back and forth and you can choose any number of adjacent holes at the same time.

Berserker flooding and gurgling
I think I identified the cause of the problem and found the solution:

Where the problem sits:

while you screw the top lid, the pressure push liquid into the chamber, meaning that the wick get fuller and fuller of liquid. At a point the wick get liquid saturated and, unable to receive more, floods. Obviously for gravity reasons, it floods into the air hole beneath the wick causing flooding, then gurgling. I guess this happens regardless of how good your wicking is (but can't confirm.

Solution:
while screwing down the top lid, do it slowly and alternate a 2-4 sec firing. This will dry the wick and make it able to receive more liquid (you can vape it through your mouth, this will improve the chamber cleaning) and go on this way: screw a bit, vape a bit, screw a bit, vape a bit and so on until you completely screwed the top lid.
Not sure, but I guess that with this procedure doesn't matter whether you keep open/closed the airflow ring while unscrew/refill/screw down.
Not tried but: keeping the tank tilted horizontally, may improve avoid the excess of absorbed liquid falling straight into the air hole beneath the coil.

Give it a try and let me know guys. I've just tried it now, and it worked for me perfectly.

Yes, @renatovotto, the leaking source of the problem is perfectly identified. Many modders have gone through it and often found ways to reduce it or even fix it. I think of Sergey with his kayfuns, when he constantly searched for solutions to let pressure escape, or Imeo and his liquid control via mouthpiece.

Unfortunately the Berserker has issues due to a simplified construction as far as pressure control goes. For one, the air ring is slightly loose an never really makes it for tightness as far as air locking goes. It gets better if the ring is turned clockwise, in the direction of the smaller hole, but never really makes it.

I think what you suggest should work, and I've tried it often when I first got the atomiser, but, personally, I find bottom filling much more easy then top. It's a pity, as that makes the pretty way that top cup was designed, pretty useless.

For me, bottom filling is fast, safe and also gives me a chance to check the state of the build. In putting the deck back I also have ways to let pressure escape from the air holes as the ring turns going through all of them.

So, it's really up to the user decision which way's better. But, of course, thank you for your guide: I'm sure many can get advantages in using it.

Moving away from this leaking issue, I have to thank whoever discovered that the Manta bubble thank is a perfect substitute for the original: works great!

Update: unfortunately, it seems images are not working here. Any clues?
Just checked, and it shows on desktop version, so, I guess, it looks like a Tapatalk issue.

Cool pic there @lanzenesi. Didn't know about the Manta tank. Have to look around. Used to love the amber look of the Berserker, but found that tank too small and moved to the larger (clear) glass.

As far as the leaking, I also find the bottom fill to be much more useful, and like you said a good build check opportunity. Since I started bottom filling I haven't got ANY leaks or gurgles. Love this tank!

Well, I finally jumped on the Berserker band wagon.:D

@The Yeti was kind enough to tip me off about a website that was selling them for $13. I broke down and bought 2. It took me a bit to break them out; but about a month ago I did.

I set one up with the tall tank and the other with the short set-up. I routinely vape unflavored 90% of the time and DIY the rest. I figured the tall was fine for the unflavored and I would see how the shorty performed as a flavor rig.

I still have the original build in both. It is a 28ga.316L SS, 8 wrap (0.77Ω), 2.5 dia., rayon wicked build (same build in both). I alternate the tanks on the same mod (Hcigar Warwolf) running them in temp mode.

I love the way these sip juice. I have been wanting to move away from DTL tanks, and reduce my liquid consumption, and this has exceeded my expectations. My daily consumption has dropped from 4 to 2 mL a day.

Though I have yet to rebuild with of these, I have done a couple of burn-offs, and re-wicks, and they just keep chugging. I'm impressed.

I only have two minor disappointments:
1. Bottom filling. Like most others, I had read that this tank really needs to be bottom filled, but I still had to try. Of course, both flooded. From there on, I bottom fill, and have never had even the slightest gurgle.:thumb: It is as simple as everyone claims. I just find non-working features (like the Berserker's "top-fill") annoying. Certainly no deal-breaker, and I even expected it; but an annoyance none the less.

2. I am not getting the intense flavor I was expecting from many of the comments I have read (based on the short set-up only). Because I have only one build in it so far; I am withholding judgement. I am hoping it is my choice of build, my build installation, my flavored juice selection, or any combination thereof.

I have read through this thread (been following it since it started), and focused on keeping the coil as close to the air inlet as possible. And, I know I still have diameter, and number of wraps to experiment with.

If anyone has suggestions, for SS/rayon builds, I would be eager to hear them.

Thank you in advance for any and all replies. And a huge thank you to ALL, for all the advise and information, that has already been contributed to this thread. You made my learning curve pretty gentle.

Any left??

I can't really say I build to maximize flavor, so I'm not particularly qualified to answer - but I will say that out of all the builds I have tried, I have enjoyed this the most: 1.1Ω coil that's SS, 30gauge, 7 wraps, 2.5mm diameter

I'm enjoying it!:thumb:

It won't appeal to the techno savvy; in that it doesn't offer more detailed features like custom TCRs. But, it does every thing I wanted it for. It is a single 18650, with addiquate temp control. menus are all accessible from the main screen (and without the need for memorizing button combinations). The display screen is not very big; but the color palette still keeps it legible for my sorry old eyes. It is metal construction; so some may find it heavy, but I have no issues with it.

It is quite comfortable in the hand.

The only thing I still haven't still haven't made up my mind about is the battery door latching mechanism.

It seems/behaves (I'm not sure of the mfg's intent) like it is supposed to be a double click process. To open; one pushes up, and then slide over, and the door swings open. To close; push up (there will be a bit of spring tension), and slide over. If you were to stop there, and run your finger across the edge of the door, you would feel it still slightly protruding. In this position, the door is mostly latched, but not secure. (I have actually dropped a battery a couple of times; just from setting it down, when it was closed only to this point.)

To secure it; I have to push the protruding edge in until flush. I feel a slight, but distinct "click." Then it is secure and will stay closed until I intentionally open it again.

With the Berserker attached, it makes a good pants pocket carry rig; though I find it a bit heavy for a shirt pocket.

For me; it was money well spent. :D

I've read the comments about leaking in the Beserker 24mm, but I haven't yet had mine to leak. I use a 28ga 2.5mm 6 wrap slightly spaced SS316L coil that comes out to be .6 ohms cold. I fill by removing the top cap and squirting liquid in until it's full up to the oval fill ports on top, then I install the top cap and start the threads a turn or so. I invert it and screw the cap tight. My wick ends go down into the deck holes and just touch the deck. I use the largest air hole, so there's not a lot of internal vacuum/suction when I vape, compared to using the smaller holes.

I can pocket carry with no leaks and no gurgles. Sometimes, after I fill it there's a gurgle for the first couple of hits, but past that it's been a great flavor tank with no leaking issues. Maybe the air space I leave by not filling it up to the cap threads is the key. There's lots of air space to compress instead of liquid all the way up to the top threads.

@IDJoel - I wondered if you'd ever get a Berserker! Nice to know that you did and for the most part you like it.

I've been using the pre-wound SS and Kanthal coils from FT in mine, with rayon wicking, and at a puny 6.2W - 7W usually. Have used the 1.3ohms and the 1.5 ohms of both wire types, in the 24mm Berserker and in the Mini. I set my 24mm AFC to the middle of the 5 holes.

I actually like the 24mm, in the 2mL Ultem tube configuration the best. I don't know if it's the difference in the larger diameter chimney base, yet shorter chimney that makes a difference. But, I can tell a difference in the flavor I get with it compared to the 4mL glass tank with the taller chimney, and with the 22mm Mini with any of the 3 tubes that came with it.

Several other people have also mentioned that they prefer the 2mL configuration of the 24mm. I remember that some of them mentioned they also thought the flavor was better than with the 4mL glass tube.

As far as top filling or bottom filling...99% of the time I bottom fill mine. I do topfill sometimes, if I'm out somewhere and want a quick refill and know I don't need a peek at the coil or wick. Sometimes I get a gurgle for the first few draws, but it clears up then. I still prefer bottom filling though.

I hope you get yours fine-tuned so that you get the flavor that many of us do. I still can't get over how much I get and how smooth it always is, too.

Yep, I've noticed more comments in favour of the shorty look, and they're probably correct. Myself, from what I remember of the very first shots, seem to remember the difference as not to be so relevant. Mind you, I might be influenced by my lazyness and enjoyment with the huge ultem manta barrel tank in expressing my experience.

Right, I'll have to do a revert and recall operation, just to check if my beliefs still hold next time.

Thought I'd post this here, and on the Berserker Mini thread, since some replacement parts for Berserkers are very hard to find.

MyVPro.com carries some normally hard to find parts for a large variety of tanks, especially Vandy Vape and Geek Vape (ie. replacement glass, insulators, parts bags, drip tips, etc.). They're the only place that carries the Accessory Bags of the spare parts (which contain o-rings, screws, etc.) and they also have the 2 types of drip tips...for the Berserkers, and many other Vandy Vape tanks.

Usually, because their S/H is high (to me), even for little littleweight stuff, I've held off on ordering some things because of that. However...they're having a FREE S/H promotion this week-end ...so it makes ordering those things a much better deal, IMO!

They also have lots of tanks, parts, etc. in their Clearance section, too. They're really marked down in many cases, so you may want to peek at that section, too.

If anyone is interested in stocking up on more Berserker 24mm, VaporDNA has all 4 colors in their Clearance section, for just $17.99 each, no matter what color you choose! That's about $8 less than FT was selling them for, using the MAP code.

If you sign up to receive their email newsletters, you'll immediately get a coupon code for 10% off your First Order with them. So that brings it down to just $16.19 per tank. Their S/H is a Flat $4.99 by USPS Ground (or more by FedEx). But...depending on your order total...you could get Free S/H. $49.99 gets free USPS delivery, and $59.99 gets free FedEx 2-day delivery.

While you're there, you may want to check out their whole Clearance section. I was amazed at a bunch of the highly discounted prices on other tanks, on mods, on coils, etc.
