Personally I wouldn't vape around kids. Studies have shown that kids who are exposed to cigarette smoking when they're young are more likely to become smokers themselves. I know part of this can be attributed to second hand smoke, but I think the Monkey See, Monkey Do factor is part of it as well. As a responsible adult I won't do something that I think might make a child susceptible to a vicious habit when they get older.

First of all, I completely agree with this.
Second, I can't be the only one who sees the humor in your comment vs. your avatar.

I was about to go on this whole spiel about responsibility and humor not being mutually exclusive... then I remembered I said "Monkey See, Monkey Do"... LoL.

you had me at monkey......

I think one day my comments on here might be used out of context to convict me for my thoughts.

Maam, you don't understand, I was joking, I have a bad sense of humour...
Judge: I don't see the humour in those comments...

hmmmm.. I should start using sarcasm quotes... they'd probably remove them anyway.

minimalsaint... the mmmmmkay was to put just a little distance between us in case I wasn't joking wasn't it... lol.

Your day in court:
Judge: your telling us you didn't know this man was responsible for these acts against humanity... did he not tell you he was giving his son ____ right there in the forum...
minimalsaint: I thought he was joking
Judge: I don't see the humour in those comments

what was the OP again?

(had to scroll up)

vaping around children = bad, but not convictable, proceed as you will, but don't judge unless ye yourself be judged ( 7'th ;) )

The funny thing is we're discussing vaping around children but when you are around children they don't think about anyone but themselves. Little kids will just fart, pee and crap themselves without a moments thought as to who has to smell it, let alone who has to clean it up! You need to vape just to be able to stand the smell of them! There there are the booger monsters who won't use a Kleenex and run around like little snot goblins or worse, who use you as their Kleenex! Thanks kid! I was hoping to look like I got hit by Slimer from Ghostbusters! You have to vape clouds just to get their disgustingness hidden in a fog of fruity goodness. And if you've ever had a boy who hit puberty, we're talking about stink generators that put little kids to shame! Kids are selfish.

I'm with you all the way
I would vape around kids, I wouldn't blow it in their faces tho.

I dont vape around kids...for one because I dont believe theres no risk of secondhand vapor like people like to say, just doesnt make sense that I could get nic from vapor, but what I blow out has no nic in it like it just disappears from the vapor. The big reason though is I dont want to encourage vaping or smoking. Kids want to do everything they see grownups do and its attractive when youre young. Especially vaping because it smells good. I wouldnt want to have any part in creating curiosity about my habit that I struggled with for so long.

Even if you were to blow out nicotine (it doesn't make sense to me either but studies say no) nicotine isn't that big of a risk and those it is a risk for tend to not be in the "kid" category.

I understand the mimicking issue. That was what crossed my mind when my great niece asked what it was (not old enough to have a real conversation with and I don't do well with baby reasoning).

I don't have kids yet, but I babysit my 4 year old niece frequently. I've never vaped in front of her, and never smoked in front of her before I made the switch. Even thought ecigs are better for us than cigarettes, it's still not something I want her to see me do. It'll probably be an entirely different story when I have my own kids though (mainly bc I think it would be nearly impossible to hide it 24/7)

Fog machines do not contain nicotine.

But tomatoes, potatoes and peppers do. ;)

Personally, I smoked around my kids, but outside when they were, and used it as a teaching tool. Eventually kids going to want to mimic someone, their friends more than likely. Why else has every parent on the face of the planet said something to the effect of "if your friends jumped off of (fill in the name of a high elevation here) would you do it too"? I spent many years talking to them about both not playing follow the leader and the dangers of getting hooked on cigarettes. I also explained what it felt like to be chained to a pack of cigarettes. Neither of my boys have ever smoked nor done any drugs, and both are independent thinkers; not easily taken in by whatever fad their friends were/are currently into. Not too shabby for a pair of gifts that didn't come with instructions.
