Considering how water vapor dissipates, you would have to virtually be kissing the person to blow vapor in their face. All of us who advocate openingly vaping also advocate respect. But only vaping with smokers or where smoking is allowed and never vaping in the open around others, will confirm the myth by the "anti's" that vaping is just as dangerous as smoking. By openingly vaping in a respectful manner and being well educated on vaping, we as a community can build a positive awareness of vaping. Perception is reality. If we act like it is the same as smoking, then it will be PERCEVIED as being the same as smoking and will be banned everywhere.

I assure you that you don't have to be kissing someone to blow vapor in their face. I've been vaping indoors and it doesn't dissipate instantly. Safety isn't the only factor when dealing with public places. If I'm eating in a restuarant I don't want anybody misting anything in the air around me. I'm a grown adult and I can handle being in a public place without having to show off my shiny new pv. Pushing your love for vaping on others in a public place will do more harm than treating it like a cigarette. I have enough self control to make it through a grocery shopping trip without having vape. Having the attitude that you must vape anywhere and everywhere is borderline childish. A lot of people could care less that what your exhaling is safer than smoking. Your forgetting the most inportant thing here and thats the fact that its a "public place" not your place.

I've been using eCigs for about 4 months now and I will generally vape pretty much anywhere. I refrain at indoor resturants, but that's about it. I've had people start to get on to me for smoking inside a few times but, as soon as I explain that it's not smoke they've all let it go rather quickly. I think vaping in public and explaining it to as many people as possible is important right now to make sure the public doesn't make it illegal or anything out of ignorance like they supposedly have on airplanes already.

I was in the non-smoking area of a casino a couple weeks ago and from 20' away an attendant said, "you can't smoke in here", which turned a few heads, so I said, "sorry" and put the 5v box mod back in my pocket. Casino folks have no sense of humar, so thought it best to comply intead of trying to negotiate the matter.

I live in California and hatred of smokers is permitted. We have cities that if you are outside and anyone doesn't like your smoking, you must put your cigarette out. So I am still a little gun shy when it comes to vaping in public. This was a fantastic thread and I read every page. Thank you.

Sorry but I don’t agree and to be honest I think you are coming across a bit overboard. Perhaps you didn’t get the humor in the first sentence in WV2wins post. I thought it was heavily laced with tongue and cheek. Overall his post was spot on. I see very clearly that he advocates respect and I take that to mean consideration for the people that do not vape. I would ad that there should also be respect for the person that does vape. If WV2win had been in that same restaurant with you and had seen such behavior I would be willing to bet that he would be in their face calling them out about being rude. I have been to many places and have never seen the behavior you are alluding to. To me the most important thing about a “public place” is that it’s public. It’s not his or yours or mine or anyone else’s excecpt the owner. While I might not like some of the things others do in public, unless they are causing harm, It’s none of my business. It’s freedom.

This just happened to me, and it was highly amusing. (Yes, I'm a jackass)

So I'm walking into the post office, taking one last drag off my VP before I hit the line of Doom and Destruction. I slide my PV into my front shirt pocket before I actually get to the line - As I really don't want to vape in lines or crowded situations usually - and I hear this 40+ year old lady yelling in a comically "tattle-tale"esque voice "THAT MAN IS SMOKING IN HERE!" Now... The PV is already in my pocket, and I couldn't help but grin and say "What!? Where'd it go!?" She retorts "IN YOUR POCKET!" ...Now, at this point I lost all control and started slapping my shirt pocket repeatedly saying "Ow! OW! Hot! HOT!!" ...silence - except for the other Doom-Riders making noises I can only describe as the grownup giggles.

She finishes and walks off in a huff, saying nothing after her initial outburst at being apparently infiltrated by Demons who breathe vapor of pure evil and laugh at her distress. When I get to to counter the attendant, who I've seen many times before, asks me in the sweetest Southern Old Lady voice "Was that lady a hollerin' at you?" I say yes, and show her the PV that incited such devastation. To which she replies "Ohhhh yeah, those are fine," and we went about our business.

It was a lovely pick-me-up halfway through a long, long Friday :)

just made a thread but just had another thought that i wanted to post about

So obviously, i go outside when i want to have an analog... do you guys do the same with your e-cigs when you're not home and in public? i dont think i'll feel comfortable using this inside buildings.. like right now im at a starbucks.

i'm feeling a little self conscious already about the thought about using it at my college in public... i guess no one really smokes in the building i'm always at so i'm always outside smoking.. i'm just kinda imagining the looks i'm going to get smoking that thing outside a campus building.

i was thinking of maybe just smoking in the bathroom stealth mode but that's kinda nasty too

do you guys jus shrug off the funny looks? or do it in stealth mode?

When I first got into ecigs I wanted to share it with as many people as possible but now I'm mostly a stealth vape as getting funny looks and comments gets old after a while.

Restaurants, stores, (most) bars, etc are "open to the public", but they are not "public places". They most definitely belong to someone else.

The first people I explained what my PV was were the postal workers. My Postmaster and 2 more employees are smokers, let me rephrase that, "former smokers". They were the first people I converted to PV's. I can vape in the post office but I am respectful of other people that happen to be there at the same time. My Postmaster will call me any time I have a package come in (they know I'm buying more goodies, which I do share some with them).

If the anti's would be respectful the majority of us PV users would be respectful. We must continue to educate the public and continue to be respectful of others.

I'm surprised she didn't say, "Well, bless her heart." That's the ol' southern way of saying "Loser!"

Airlines not allowing vaping I can understand: You're tightly packed together with dozens of strangers in a pressurized metal tube hurtling through the stratosphere, reliant on oxygen supplied by the aircraft. Then, someone starts filling your space with some sort of vapor. Is it a biological weapon? Poison? Smoke from a bomb fuse? Is he middle eastern? I'm gonna die today! Air travel culture is not ready for vaping, I would not be surprised if a flight was diverted and someone arrested for vaping while flying. It's still a post 9/11 world folks, we're not going to convert folks by scaring them. Hell, PVs will likely be banned from carry-on for fear that it could be a disguised weapon.

Post offices are allowing it? That's huge. Although the postal service operates entirely on the price of postage (not one dollar of tax money), it's still a federal institution. That means post offices are federal buildings. Tread carefully, if vaping were to be banned in post offices, it won't help public opinion.

Shouldn't this thread be in E-Cigarettes in Public ?
