Initially my wife and I saw vaping we saw it more as a method to quit smoking rather than a less expensive alternative, but as we took the plunge into the wonderful world of E-cigs I noticed a curious and familiar (being a pipe smoker) attitude being adopted, that is that vaping was becoming something of a hobby; collecting, trading, sampling, mixing... Is this weird to anyone else? Anyone follow a similar path to vapedom? I guess I am interested to know if anyone shares my thoughts towards vaping, or if it is an unhealthy attitude. :vapor:

Well, nicotine is bad for you, but getting nicotine via smoking is much worse than vaping. One of the primary reasons I smoked as heavily as I did for as long as I did was to self medicate my ADHD, something I think nicotine works wonders for. At eleven days I've hit a point where I don't want to be a smoker, but I'm nowhere near ready to give up nicotine completely, so vaping for me represents a healthy compromise.

Hardly weird and not nearly as unhealthy as smoking. It definitely is fun. Of course, any hobby can become "unhealthy" if you let it consume you.

Well, nicotine is bad for you, ...

There are many here who would disagree with you, letoatreides. Better get the flame suit ready.

I started vaping because my wife had to quit smoking so she wouldn't get fired from her job (nurse). I was going to keep smoking when she wasn't home. But, the vape tasted so good that I just made the full change. Never intended to quit, just happened. Now I like vaping so much that even if I got rid of nicotine I'd just vape 0mg.

I wanted just a halo kit. But then I got reading, bought some more stuff, did some more reading, bought some more stuff. (I think you get the point). I guess I can call this a hobby. I enjoy all aspects of vaping, the different PVs, different flavours, cartomizers and so on.

Having vaping as a hobby is healthy in my opinion. Cigarettes are just boring smoky sticks to me now.

To me, first and foremost vaping is a path to Freedom. I dislike HAVING to have tobacco, I deplore the panic I feel when I smoke my last cigarette at 3 or 4 AM and have to drive out to get a pack regardless of the weather. I'm not totally free of them yet & still feel a little of that panic at such times, but I can manage it now so that's progress. I don't really care if I ever "quit smoking"... maybe I will, maybe not, entirely. But I intend to secure that Freedom to choose every time before I light up, instead of just automatically reaching in my pocket & lighting one up.

Vaping to me is my ticket to freedom. I have embraced the whole concept with gusto. I like it. I enjoy it. I no longer chastise myself for being such an idiot smoking cigarettes, knowing full well what the repercussions may be. Even my daughter approves! My plan is to reduce my nicotine intake to zero. However long that takes! Will I ever stop vaping? Probably not. Will I ever put another cigarette to my mouth? NEVER

I didn't start vaping to quit smoking,it was to supplement nicotine intake in places where I couldn't smoke.
After a week,I realized at 2:30pm that I had not smoked a cig yet that day,so,I took another drag off my eGo and quit smoking.
It can and has turned into a hobby and you can spend a fair amount of money if you try it all,I know firsthand.
