Finally got my VS30. Had a notice in my mailbox and went and picked it up at the post office about 10 minutes away.
First impression: gunmetal color is nice. Not offensive in any way, but not anything that 'wows' me. Slight flaws in the finish in several spots; not a big deal, but it was $170, so it has to compete with the Provari which has (at least mine) a very tough finish without flaws.
It's definitely tiny. One of the small modern beepers that doctors still use is about the closest comparison I can think of.
Mine had an internal rattle. I opened it up, and guess what I found inside? An extra one of the little black adjustment buttons rattling around inside. So if yours rattles, open it up. You'll likely find the same. I guess the assembly people drop a button and just grab another one instead of retrieving the one they dropped. So I now have a spare button that I doubt I'll ever need, unless I lose one taking it apart. If you open yours, be careful because the "minus" button will just be floating there waiting to fall out if you tip it.
DNA screen is straight and fit and finish is good, but not great. The casting is a bit rough around the edges, but the finish hides it for the most part. Nitpicking, but again, for the price I'm going to.
The USB port seems sturdy and quality. A friend of mine just had the USB port fail on his VS20, so I'm going to be careful with it.
Power is impressive, but I think we all knew that. My 0.8 coils at 15W are plenty, with the battery supplying 3.9-4V depending on coil. I'll probably roll a bit higher resistance coils for this, in the 1.0-1.2 range.
Only a USB-to-Micro cord is supplied, with no wall charger. There are no instructions or other information in the package.
The air slots don't seem to provide much airflow -- my Spheroids have a much tighter draw on this than they do on my Paps Lux. That was a bit of a disappointment, since I planned on using them pretty much exclusively on the VS. I may work out a solution to this using a slotted washer, which I've done on other mods. Just plan on it being a tight draw if you use an atty with airholes in the 510 connection.
Switch is clicky and seems to be decent quality. I could do without the blue LED ring around it for a more proven switch, but it's not bad.
Overall I'm happy I got it. It's a DNA30 with 1200 mAh in a tiny package. Very pocketable, and solidly built. I just hope it'll stand up to day-to-day use, because that's what it's going to see.
