I am the new owner of a Vaporshark r-dna 30. I bought this mod to use as my "travel mod" (I travel for a living)....I am usually a mechanical mod guy, but I got sick of carrying multiple batteries with me, and I also don't want to risk banging up my nice mechanicals during travel. The Vaporshark gets pretty good reviews, so that's what I went with. I really wanted to hold out for a DNA 40, but I am leaving for a long business trip on Monday and wanted something quickly that I could bring with me. DNA 40s are out of stock everywhere right now....I also don't subohm as much as I used to, so I think 30 watts will be plenty of power for what I'm doing (mostly between .8 and 1.2 Ohms).

My only gripe so far with the V-Shark is that my atty sits a bit cockeyed on the top of it. Like the 510 is crooked a tad...no big deal, just being nit-picky. Is this a common issue with these? I mean other than that, I am pretty impressed with the quality of this mod! It feels solidly built....

Oh, I know what I wanted to ask! I was under the impression that the V-Shark came with a VTC4, but mine came with an NCR18650B in it! Needless to say, I swapped it out for a VTC5.....

How does the V-Shark hold up after having it for a while? I am hoping that mine will be able to take a beating and keep on performing! lol....

I'd love to know this too. I have a DNA 30 and rDNA in the cart now but am seeing so many reports of problems and lousy CS I'm having serious second thoughts about pulling the trigger.

Yeah....I mean people will have negative things to say about almost any product, so you have to take the neg. reviews with a grain of salt. I watched Phil Busardo's review on the V-Shark rDNA 30 and he had nothing but positive things to say, so I pulled the trigger....Hopefully it won't leave me "stranded" on the road next week!! :)

Wasn't aware of the bad CS thing though....I don't like hearing that too much!! :(

They used to come with vtc4 now come with a crappy battery.... They call this batterygate.... Also vs will be offering an dna40 upgrade to the 30 device but it'll be about 100 bucks

For me, the functionality of the device has been good. When I want to vape it, the thing fires up. Also, the size of it is great for having a replaceable 18650. My tanks do not leak, so I have not experienced the effects of e liquid getting into the circuitry like others have.

I expect certain things from devices at this price point. The paint on my iPhone's home button hasn't started wearing off, which I have had for a year and it was half the cost of this device, but that is just an ascetic issue. I take care of my things, so I expect them to hold up for a while so that I can enjoy them without issue. I can tell you that from what I have experienced (still have a device that came with a slanted DNA screen and paint issues) and seen the quality control on the devices were spotty, but not sure if they have fixed that with the upcoming rDNA40 release, which I hope they have. The company seems like its having growing pains that most companies have to deal with, although I think customer service is more a cultural thing that is not so easily fixed, because that tends to trickle down from the CEO in such a small company.

Gotcha. Yeah the NCR18650B is indeed a crappy battery IMO (only has a 6.8 amp limit or something like that!). Hopefully the VTC5 I have in there now will last for a while before needing to be recharged....

I really wanted a DNA 40, but I am leaving for a long business trip on Monday and there's no telling when they will become available! With the DNA 30 I was able to order it yesterday and I have the mod today! I don't foresee myself needing more than 30 watts anyway, so I am sure it'll be fine...

Cool, thanks for the info! Hopefully mine'll hold up under the rigors of road travel! I am just sick and tired of carrying 4-5 batteries with me for my mechs. I have a 15,000 mAh portable USB charging device, so I never have to worry about the VS dying on me!! :)

I called them with a question...they were polite and friendly, even though swamped...so far so good....still going to seal it if I need to though and it did not stop me from ordering either.

(sent from Mars, it's not as red as I imagined.)

They are nice people, but try calling them with an issue like the site showing "Sony VTC4" in big letters, but a questionable Panasonic arrives or a device that has a slanted DNA screen with paint issues. Took me almost a month and speaking to three people before they finally decide to send one out. To error is human, but realizing your mistakes and handling those issues in a timely manner is a whole other animal. From my experience with the company, if I had a warranty issue with my device, I would expect them to fight with me about it, as I have seen them do with others. This is how I feel as a customer that has had to deal with the customer service other than asking them a question about the size of the device or when it is going to arrive. Customer service is not just how friendly they are, but how they handle issues with the products they are selling, because if there is an issue down the road that is what we as consumers have to rely on.

Yeah....I haven't seen that side yet....I get you.

Those of you that have ordered the rDNA 40, which battery did you choose?

I chose the Samsung 25A battery.

I don't recall getting a choice of battery on the pre-order but I did order it eight days ago (10/14)...so I may have forgotten....just looked up the order. All that is on there is the rdna40, a charging base and three skins....lol...I like color in my life =P.

In fact I am fairly sure I did not get a battery choice because it clearly states on the site that it ships with an LG.

And I just ran through the process again and there is no battery selection....maybe you ordered it when there was a choice?

When I pre-ordered the 40, I didn't see an option to choose a batt preference (then again I'd had a few shots and missed the expected shipping date of the 28th too). The page just said that it'll ship with an LG 35 amp. I hope that's the case. LG is a good company so I'd trust that their batts would be safe to use and actually live up to the stated specs...

Oh, ok :)

I did order it on the 14th too, but I placed my order pretty early, at around noon eastern time.

Ok, just keep in mind that 35A is the pulse rating. It's 20A continuous. It's fine on the rDNA 40, though.

I had read that, but I also read that was the same with the rating on the VTC's. Even when I drip, which isn't very often, I build to .4 which is only around 10 amps anyway. I just want to know I have a quality battery, and I trust (for better or worse) manufacturers like Sony and LG...

The NCR18650B is NOT a crappy battery. It's a high quality battery, just not a high amp battery. It's rated for 6.8amps but will pulse to 12amp so probably not a good choice for sub-ohm'ers and possibly irresponsible of VS to include it with a DNA 30 but I would guess 95% of rDNA 30 owners won't have any issues with the battery and the higher capacity would be welcome for most. The DNA 30 max output is 10amp. If you build coils over .8 ohms, you will be fine.

So far so good. I am running a 1ohm coil at 15 watts with a VTC5. I too did not get the VTC4, oh well. Certain RDA's sit crooked and some sit flush.

DNA 40 is rated at 16 amps continuous, 23 amp peak.

So, all this talk of the chip door and leaking juice led me to call their customer service line (just to see what the experience of talking with them would be like as much as anything else). The person I spoke with initially wasn't even sure what I meant by "removing the door on the chip side", but the person he transferred me to stated "if you open the door and put silicone around the seam it could diminish units ability to let gas out if the battery vents. Also if you did seal the seam, then had an issue, if a service tech found any silicone in the bay they could use that as an excuse to say you did something to the chip".

1. The battery is on the other side, so why would it vent through the the chip bay...
2. He said the words "use that as an excuse"...

God, I hope I get a perfect unit straight off... That sounds shady to me all around...
