I like compact, especially after using my istick for the last 3 weeks. Much better than my MVP2 as far as size and vape quality. Soldering batteries doesn't bother me. Many year ago, I used to race R/C cars so I would buy a box of batteries, test each cell and make my own matched battery packs. I prefer box mods over long, thin mods.

I do think they look great though.

Yeah see...that is the ONLY thing that keeps me from cancelling at this point. I would like a little mod too, for out and about...I have a small purse...lol...and like most women there is a LOT of stuff in it....:D

But I will absolutely lower my expectations of quality based on remarks in this thread.

I want the one Brandon had...what was that? Opus?

Yeah see that does not bother me either...You don't have to solder to replace it...

Protovapor should change their FAQ if replacing the battery does not require soldering.

How does changing the battery work?
The XPV is an internal battery mod. The battery is not intended to be changed when it runs out of charge, but it can be changed by the user when it no longer takes a good charge. The battery in the unit has a 2-pin connector soldered to it via a wiring harness. New batteries will have to have this harness. You can either order from us or recover the harness from the original battery, and transfer to a new battery. Please be careful when soldering to a lithium-ion battery, or have someone do it that knows how.

Yes...unopened ones.

(sent from Mars, it's not as red as I imagined.)

Ha, mine weren't in any sort of packaging. Just tossed in a flat rate box.

It looks like my order number is going to be pretty close to shipping in the first batch, if so I'll keep it. After all I do really like my other vaporshark. If it's not going to be here for a while I'll just join the hunt for a vaporflask 40, and whichever arrives first I'll keep.

That is if you are wrapping the battery, not changing it....if you wrap your own batteries you have to solder, if you buy a wrapped battery you do not.

This is what you plug in once the battery is wrapped...buy it wrapped and you snap and go...trying to "recover the harness" means you will solder it to a new battery....

LOL Whelp those lying VS people then...dude said I could return them if they were "unopened"...

Call MIke, ask him if he talked to Norma today...he is in Customer Service....told me that once you open them and put them on that oils from your hands cause them to have an odor and they are then unusable to VS....which begs the question. After we touch them are they going to stink? LOL, my lovely little stinky mod!

Yeah see that does not bother me either...You don't have to solder to replace it...you have to have a wrapped battery which you snap into the connector, which Protovapor sells and I have an extra of...the intent is to charge USB and only replace the battery when it is totally dead....I am not married to the idea of removing the battery to charge it, I am fine with USB charging.

Not trying to convince you, just saying that does not harsh my mellow one iota and while I do have a soldering iron, I won't be using it on the XPV.

I prefer usb charging over pulling out a battery to charge.

I don't carry a murse so being small and fitting in my pocket helps.

Opus D. Looks a bit weird and uses an internal 1500mah Li-po battery. No go for me. I want something that uses 18650's.

Nothing wrong with their FAQ. If you order a battery from them (like Bassnorma), it will have the harness already soldered on the battery. If you already have a battery or want to buy a battery somewhere else, you can re-use the harness from the old battery, which would require soldering.

Return it the way you got it. If they give you ....., do a chargeback on your credit card.

I am asking though KTM, what was the mod that Brandon was using in the first pbusardo vid? Was it an Opus? Either way...Nhaler has no DNA40 ready...if that is the one.

Not sure. I saw him use a VS DNA in a few videos though. The Opus is DNA 20 or 30 and has a li-po battery. Brandon might have a custom built with a DNA 40.

Let's hope that he get what we want from the Shark then....or learn to build a box mod...Friend of mine wants a BF one, in truth, I think I do too...lol

I was actually thinking about getting a Hana mini clone and mod it with a DNA 40, Varitube 510 spring connector and mill out the battery section to fit a 18650. Maybe a nicer fire button. I wasn't crazy about all the hot glue inside holding the buttons and electronics though.

Yeah, the Opus 40D. Looks cool. The owner of nHaler said they are working on it, but no date so far... No images other then Brandon using it and no specs. Not sure what size the battery will be. Look at the capacity in the tiny iStick. I will wait and see.

I've seen someone do just that and posted pictures in the hana thread a loooong time ago. Except he did it with a authentic hana. Ballsy fella I tell ya

I saw that too. And a bunch modding the mini to accept a 18650 battery. That's where I get my hair-brained ideas. I'm not smart enough to think of that on my own

I'm going to cancel my rDNA40 order. I hate being misled. When I ordered on 10/14 it said shipping 10/28. I'm sure from what i've seen posted in this thread I wouldn't receive mine until the end of Nov or sometime in Dec. In my opinion the VS isn't good enough to wait that long for. If I'm going to wait I'll either find exactly what I want or build it. :(

If you ordered it on the 14th, I would guess there's a pretty good chance you'll be part of the first shipment. I didn't decide I wanted one until over a week after so I was almost sure I would have to wait a while for mine so I called a local shop and reserved one. Hopefully, I'll get one the first week of Nov.

There really isn't a better option for a DNA 40 device for me and I'm still looking to see if there's other options. For now, I'm happily vaping away on my Istick while I wait. I also ordered a few more tanks to play with while I wait.

Is there a list of DNA 40 devices anywhere?

VS rDNA 40D
Protovapor XPV
Hana Modz DNA 40
VaporFlask
Bap DNA 40
Dark Star

Those are the ones I know of. Did I miss any?
