Really need some help and insights...

.. using my VS rdna40 building Ni200 builds with 28/30/32g and experimenting, but one key thing missing in my vapes is heat.

I am unable to get any warmth in the vapor. I am looking at getting cake warm or slightly warm cappuccino type of heat that I like, as from 26/28g kanthal builds. I am pretty sure that amount of heat is not going to burn cotton, so definitely much below 450F. Unfortunately I am not even close to that on Ni200 builds. I ramp up my temperature between 400-500F and beyond 450F there is definitive slight aftertaste of cotton burn so can't raise it higher than that.

I have built micro coils ID 2mm with 28g 12 wraps, 30g 7-9 wraps, 32g 5-7 wraps, twisted 28g 9 wraps, twisted 32g 7 wraps and with almost all still get only cool vapor. Usually build on kayfun, Magma, Holmes and Venturi. kayfun is the closest one with slightly warmer vape but that is probably due to highly restrictive airflow, closely followed by magma.

Also have rebuilt an atlantis coil with 28g 10 wraps ID 3mm and it also gets cool vapeat 400-450F, but at 500-540F it does give a slightly warmer vape and doesn't burn the cotton as it is always heavily saturated unlike RBAs.

My question is this supposed to be normal, does everyone seem to be satisfied with the cool vapor. And is there any build that would provide slightly warmer vape. Also worth mentioning is that my mod has freezing screens and could this be the problem, although I get cool vape all the time no matter what the screen does.

I am totally lost and without help may have to just go back to kanthal builds. Please help!!!!

Try this on your Kayfun:
28g Ni200, 3mm ID, 8 wraps spaced coils. The spacing doesn't have to be pretty but the coils shouldn't touch. Keep the coil about 2mm above the air hole. Set temp at 450°F and up your wattage to about 25w. If that still doesn't give you the warm vape you want, try 30w or 35w.

VS just posted on Facebook that the temp control nickel Nauti coils should be online next week. :)

They are available now according to their website...

I have been recently doing only non-contact coils, realized from suggestions that it is much easier to build with no hotspots. However not much difference in vape between other than ease to build.
Could you please suggest how changing ID 2mm to 3mm would make the vape hotter. I have rarely did 3mm coils before, just curious. Kayfun with restricted airflow does tend to be a little bit warm but not able to get anywhere close to this on other RBA's.

Maybe I have a bad mod. I just wanted to check if there was an issue with my mod (currently on my 3rd bad one, and the very first one the very first build was a dream. Taste was topnotch and warm. Then everything went downhill from screen freeze issues). I should probably hold my experimentation until I get a good device. But I am glad to hear that it is possible to get warmer vape.
Hmmmmmmm, that doesn't sound right. If your screen is freezing, I bet you are not getting TP. That's what happend to the one I had to send back.

The bigger coil has more surface area that can heat up for a warmer vape.

Thanks KTM. I've been following a few of the dna40 threads since it dropped and it seems to be that the general consensus is drifting towards spaced coils.

Wow....placed my order yesterday and received my shipping notice this morning. I was expecting a much longer wait.
What time Monday did you place your order, I wonder? I placed an order yesterday too, no shipping notice yet. Not that I in any way expected one that fast, as I didn't place the order till about noon Eastern time.

I placed my order at 12:02am like right before the server crashed.. I guess they're just shipping them out randomly.

I ordered at 1:15 AM on Monday morning, no shipping yet. Some are saying the package deals might be going first.

That appears to be the case. I almost ordered the package deal too, oh well.

The wire I ordered is supposed to be here on saturday, I guess that gives me some time to play around with the nickel wire and get used to it.
