Does the rdna have overcharge protection through the usb port? Can I leave it plugged in and not worry about it?

That is a really good question. I am not sure.
When did VS start advertising that the Sony was no longer shipping with the device? I opened the battery door and "what the #$%^ is that?" I have a Sony in it now, but this is mildly irritating.
The best battery for this mod would probably be the ncr18650pf.
I'm not sure why they used a battery that isn't even equal to the amp limit of the mod. It's not safe, really. Pretty dumb vaporshark, pretty dumb. But It's what I've come to expect from those guys.

So,I received a shipping notice from Vaporshark. Still just saying pre shipment information sent on the USPS tracking site, but it is a positive change. Hopefully, I have it back in the next 4-5 days.
I'm with you. I have a post on here about my experience with some lower amperage batteries and the DNA30. The batteries had misleading advertising/labeling. I had an atomizer short internally in spite of my precautions of checking it directly before snugging it down to the mod. Thankfully the board shut down and it was non-event. Do that enough times and see what happens. It's not about what your plans are, it's about the worst case scenario.
As safe as possible for a given device vs. a disregard for safety.
I agree also. Very surprised at VS. I even wrote to them quoting the mismatch between the Evolv requirements and the Panasonic NCR18650B spec. Their answer was basically it should be fine for most people above .65 ohm.
I would strongly recommend people follow Evolv's recommendation and only use an IMR battery rated over 12A continuous discharge. If you can't find the Sony's, there's plenty better choices than the 18650B, see for example the list in Baditude's ECF blog:

Was that post prior to the introduction of the Samsung INR18650-25R? I have two of them that I purchased and am trying to decide on if I should take this Panasonic out.
Baditude updated his list 9/23/14. The Samsung INR18650-25R is on there, should be a good fit at 2500 mAh and 20A. I personally would swap out the Panasonic NCR18650B, they are good batteries for lower power usage but there are better and safer choices out there nowadays.
Oh, I was looking at the amp, haha. I don't normally go down below 1.5ohm resistance or above 10 watts. The only thing that is getting me is the extra 900mah. I have been vaping on it and its lasting me forever. I am big on safety, but not sure if I am using the extra power that would cause me to swap it out. Is there a online tool that will let me plug in wattage and resistance to get an amp rating?
It says at 1.5 ohm and 10W you should only be pulling 2.58A so you should be ok with the Panny, and I hear you on the extra time.
Now I think about it again, not sure the rDNA can get the voltage down low enough on a fresh battery for that, so you may be firing a little higher (4.2 volts would have you at 2.8A). Still under the amp limit of the battery though.
I've followed this thread for almost 200 pages
good morning EVERYONE....well yesterday was NOT a good day for me...First i crashed my $1800 rc quadcopter....then i came into the house and went to change the battery in my vaporshark.....and YES i did it....put the battery in backwards....and SIZZLE!!!....My house STILL stinks of burnt electronics....I called vaporshark customer service who basically told me that i would get a $50 rebate towards a new one if i send mine back....I also asked if a new device was going to be released and i was told yes and most LIKELY before the holidays....So i think i might wait for that and look at other alternatives also....Meanwhile back to my provari mini...So learn from my mistake my friends...If you are upset about something or preoccupied, it is very easy to make this mistake...
Wonder if it would be wise to just bite the bullet and spend $30 on a VTC5. That post lists the Samsung 25R, but all I keep reading about batteries is that IMRs have been proven not to blow up and INR are not exactly the same as IMR.
Pretty sad that I need to have this conversation, because VS's site clearly stated a VTC4, which was not in the mod when it arrived... and also was not in the second package that they sent me after I called their customer service to voice my concern about it not having what I paid for. I am amazed that they have not been sued yet.
