I hope you hold on to it and try some other things on it before you decide to return it.
I would love to try and help you figure out what the problem is so I'm with KTM, let's start with the basics:
What attys are you putting builds in?
On your attempted builds: ga., dia., wraps and target ohm.
The only thing I can get a good, consistant nickel build on so far has been the Lemo. I've tried the erlkonigan every way to Sunday and on several occasions wanted to stomp a mud hole in it!
Bottom line: IMHO not all attys play well with nickel! Don't get too discouraged, I hope it's not the device and it's something that can be fixed with a little help from the people that have had a little success with the VS!
Hey sorry i havnt responded, I have been on travel all weekend. Thank you for reaching out to help.
I have tried 4 toppers so far all resulting in the same behavior.
1. marquis RDA
2. Aeolus RDA
3. Venturi RDA
4. Rogue RDA
All builds I am doing are 28g spaced coils 3mm-4mm diameter single coils. All coils I have tried are 0.11 to 0.15 ohm
I am still having issues with the rdna40, and now after spending 2 extra days with it over the weekend I can def say there is something up with my chip. I believe whatever part of the chip is reading the temperature is faulty.
Here are a few things I have noticed :
1. My at rest readings are off, which is why I am hitting TP almost instantly even at like 5 watts. On a new fresh coil (spaced) 0.13 ohm 28gauges single, when firing at 410TP, and 12 watts I hit TP in almost 2 seconds resulting in almost no vapor. This is true for any wattage above 5.
2. The breakpoint between working and not working on my device is 490F. The device works as it should @ 490f and above, but does not do me any good because it defeats the purpose of owning this device. Vaping at 490f , the wicks get charred. Once @ 490F, I can actually fire for more than 3 seconds and not hit TP. Once I switch to 480F, the bug happens again.
3. If I vape for a little bit, unscrew my atty and screw it back on. My at rest readings will change, I know this is not what you are supposed to be doing b/c it trips up the chip, however if i do this I can actually vape @ 410 TP and the degrees meter will actually read below 350f.
4. There is no ramp on my degree meter. Say I have it set at 450f. If i fire, it reads 350 for a split second then immediately 450F then "Temperature Protected" all while producing barely any vapor.
I have tried almost 20 builds thus far and tried to get my wicking correct with rayon. I feel like I have done the builds perfectly. My ohms dont jump, there is nothing that would tell me suspect there is a bad connection anywhere. This chip for whatever reason below 490F does not work properly.
Edit: Here is a pic of one of my builds
