Did you check the size on these? The SX Mini M Class much bigger than the dna 40 and also a little bit bigger than the rDNA 40 which uses a replaceable 18650 battery.

It takes an 18650. I have the S class and you couldn't ask for a nicer mod I like it better then my rDna40 or my P3. If you watch Busardos review it is spot on accurate also. I am getting an M class also. My thinking is maybe they will come up with a better wire. Nickel in my mind is too finnicky. I have just about sworn it off completely and the SXmini firmware is self upgradable. Just dl the driver and the update and you've got it. I think something better then nickel is going to come up. I have tried so many builds it makes my head swim either they are crappy from the start or if they are good they only last for 3 days. but I want to get the new SX because I want one more and it leaves me open for options. They also changed some of the features aesthetically that Busardo talks about. Very well made. You can either change the battery or charge it at night when your in be like I do mini USB.

I wonder what the failure rate actually is with these. I have 2 that have not had a problem yet.

VS told someone last week that the return rate is down from 10% to 2%. Obviously, there is no way to verify the accuracy of those numbers. No breakdown of screen issues versus something else but, going by what I've see posted, nearly all returns are because of the screen scrambling.

Got my white shark skin and o-ring set for my STm, just waiting for the Cherry Vapes white and black cloud chaser drip tips to finish them off. Just ordered the DNA30 with a blue shark skin, STn and already have the blue o-rings for it. Going to be set with these three setups for a while....I hope:glare:

You're gonna love it. I don't have a pic with my other DNA30 with red sharkskin.

Right in line with what Evolv said (about 5% failure rate).

Perhaps unobtanium is better than nickel, personally I think you are in for a long wait if Ni and Ti do not work for you.
I am confidant that if it could be done with Kanthal, Evolv would have already done it.

If you think nickel coils are too finnicky realize that other materials will be worse as they have to deal with much smaller resistance changes as temp increases.

Oh also the battery indicator on the SX is right on also. Plus it has memory functions and 3 modes, Powerful, Standard, and Soft. Perhaps Kryptonite would work. IMO and not only mine nickel is too hard to work with. It's very hit and miss maybe you have found a way to make it work as well as Kanthal in the long run but I haven't and the pre made coils are a waste of money. I still want to have the option just in case. I know some guy like qorax has had some good luck with it and more power to him but for me it is just too much of a hassle. I think the idea behind it is great though but it needs to be something that everyone can enjoy and use and that is not the case with nickel. With all the advancements that have been made in vaping I am sure something will come up if the govt doesn't find a way of shutting it down.

I'm using 24 gauge Titanium w/ mine. It's no trouble at all to work with.

Hey if you want an yihi no problem and no need to convince me.
I understand some have trouble with Ni and some do not. I do not.
Donèt like Ni try Ti (Titanium) several are very happy with it, adjust temps down for Ti

Do not like either, use Kanthal, no worries.
If you expect the yihi with Ni will be like kanthal you will be disappointed.

I clean mine every two tanks ~ and it (Ni200 / TP) is my go to now. I can't imagine myself vaping regular kanthal builds anymore. For me it is as easy to build and maintain as regular wick-n-coil ~ but the bonus is in it's 'safety' and a superior vape satisfaction.

The only coil I had any luck with was a 14 wrap 28awg microcoil that qorax told me about it stayed at .12 ohms for 3 days the went wonky. When I went to rewick it and tied to dry fire it at 600 degrees it caught on fire. I guess I am kind of lazy, I don't like taking my tanks apart every 2 or 3 tanks and cleaning them. I have no thoughts of the SX working any better on nickel but I love the way they work on Kanthal, I also love the way my rDNA works with Kanthal and have had no problems with the board with the NI200 works flawlessly. I just like the features of the SX more. I tried to duplicate the previously mentioned coil. Came out right at .12 ohms started out fine. This coil had been wrapped much better then the first because I work hardened the wire first. Didn't even take 1 day and it was down to .07 ohms. My Kanthal coils work for ever easy to clean and rewick and never had a problem. There was a learning curve with them when I started also but once I got it it was a piece of cake. I don't believe I ever burn my juice and I know I never burn my wick. Just a great vape everytime. Don't have to check all the time to see if I am hitting TP They just work. That is what I want to see with the low resistance wire like NI200. Have thought of trying titanium but I'm not convinced of the safety. But there has got to be something out there that will work and I am convinced that they will find it. You can bet they are working on it as we speak. Didn't want you to get the wrong impression of my thoughts on the rDNA40, its a great device I just like the features of the SX more. I use both daily. I probably vape 2 tanks a day on each so nickel means I would have to be tearing down my atties everyday and working on them IF I could find a build that I could recreated on a daily basis.

Nickel builds are just slightly more tedious than kanthal for me. I've got 3 lemos and my erlq with ni builds right now, all working and wicking like a champ. All 4 have been in use for about 3 weeks in heavy rotation and each has been rewicked at least 6 times and all have been rock solid from the day I built them. Not sure why problems persist for those trying to coil with ni200, connections are the key and once managed correctly it's quite simple. Take your time, make it secure. Simple.....

So I think part of the screen issues with the large DNA screen have to do with using the same chip for the small and large screen. When my screen screws up, it looks like the display is trying to show the display from the small display and the large display at the same time. Earlier today, my screen changed to look exactly like the smaller display DNA40. After a few button presses, the top part of the screen still showed the smaller screen format, and the bottom half showed the large format. Then it all scrambled together and started scrolling. I think the chip is getting confused which display is attached and it's causing the issues.

Here's a picture I snapped when my large display changed to the format of the smaller display:

VkTI3x8.jpg

It's still a bit screwed up, but it's definitely trying to render the smaller format to the larger screen.

After this showed up, the bottom part of the screen changed to the larger format and the top stayed small. Then it started getting all screwed up and scrolling after that. So I think this is part of the display problems we are seeing.

What atty are you using. Coils changing resistance is usually a function of connection stability in the atty.

The one thing with nickel builds is that you need a really stable atty. My clone ErlK doesn't stay stable for more than a day or so, but the authentic is fine. Even my Lemo will jump around on occasion.

Man thats a pretty good looking meal for prison. Where are you at a cafeteria? Or do they have Nationalized eating in Canada too. Just Joking around. Hey wheres the beer I thought that was all you Kanucks drank. Thats one thing I loved about Canada they tax the crap out of cigarettes and beer and have for a long time and at the time I used to drive trains to Vancouver BC Every Canadian drank beer and smoked cigarettes. I remember when the breweries up there went on strike I was working at Sumas WA and they were bringing semis full of beer for the the Canadians to buy. It was crazy.
